It's That Time Again!

Time for???  

The Worlds Longest Yard Sale!

I know!

With moving I wasn't sure I would go this year but my friend Kathy @ Happy Mrs. C is going to be a seller this year.   She will be at Lone Oak Community Center in Signal Mtn, TN

Kathy and I met online a few years ago and finally met face to face back in June when I took her some things to sell at the WLYS.  She invited me to come and visit her 

and so I decided I would!

I do plan to shop a little bit, but since I'm downsizing something will have to be really special for me to buy it!  What I really want to do is help Kathy in her booth and get an idea of how it is from the selling side! 

BUT, I still want to do my yearly

Coffee Mugs

I'm a woman who likes her morning coffee!

My children know this! 

When Sara was little she picked out this mug for me on Mother's Day

I've kept it ever since!  

Last Mother's Day Sara & Tiger gave this to me!

I love it!  From a newborn to a two year old! 

I drink from this most mornings!

Yesterday my other daughter found this and sent it to me as a gift!  I think it says it all!

It is a travel mug and just perfect! 

So thank you to my sweet daughters and my darling grandson for three of my favorite things from three of my favorite people!

As you know I'm not doing much thrift shopping since I'm 'downsizing'...but...

It's hard to stop looking and of course when I look I usually find a little something I need!

I just had to have this cute little Rooster! 

A nice bright spot in the new kitchen for $1 

I've been doing a lot of summer reading in the evenings and was in need a few new books, so of course I go to the thrift shops

I found five books and the total was $2 for all!!

Charlie Kitty

Charlie has settled in pretty well to his new digs!

He stays close to me but I see him getting more comfortable every day! 

Today this made me so happy!

I've been waiting for Charlie to discover this window so he can sit and look outside.

Now that we have moved we no longer have the screened porch 

which was Charlie's favorite place!

Seeing him enjoy looking out the window is a favorite thing!

Thrifty Things Friday #118

During my move I'm sending more to the Thrift Shops then I'm bringing home...

thank goodness! 

BUT...
of course I have found some things for my new place!

I really needed chairs for my dining room table and look at this!  I found four of these amazing chairs at the Project Safe House thrift shop!

Look at the backs!   

They are pretty old and have had some repair done to them but they are sturdy and comfortable!

I took the thrift my four ladder back chairs and brought these home!  I love them!

I paid $35 and felt like this was a super bargain!

This thrift store is my favorite one in Athens, GA.

I donate to them and purchase from them often.  They have great prices and the money supports a great cause 'working to end domestic violance'

So I love spending my money here!

I also found these cute glasses at another thrift shop

Just some random glasses that caught my eye! 

Less then $1.50 for all!

This week I had a hard time choosing but these two are a couple of favorites

Lynda Bergman Design shared a wonderful way to capture memories with this charming shadowbox.

She kept sand from her daughter's first sandbox and this photo to create a lasting memory!

Land of EnCraftment found some really thrifty things to share with us, but this stunning cabinet was my favorite!

I can just imagine this filled with all my treasures!

A Bargain

Something is only a bargain if you really need it or really LOVE it!

Recently I shared a bargain I found for my new home

I bought this at Hobby Lobby for 80% off and was excited because the colors were right, it had the Eiffel Tower, french words and Paris on it! 

Perfect!  Except it wasn't! 

I love the pillows which were also a bargain...love them!  No hesitation, no second guessing my choice....but the wall art...hmmmmmm

I wanted to love it but somehow I didn't!

I think it's too big for my room and the dark center feels like a black hole somehow!  So today I returned it!  Whew...I'm glad I did.  

Because a bargain isn't a bargain if you don't love it!

The right thing will come along and when it does I'll know it and I'll love it! 

I am settling in here and finding this 2 bedroom duplex just perfect for me.  I adore being closer to my daughter, SIL and of course Tiger! 

Tiger recently spent a few hours here with me while his Mom and Dad did some chores at their house.  We played and of course he had to 'eat'!

I think he is in a growth spurt again!

After lunch we had a treat!  Grandma has these little tiny ice cream cones that are 'Tiger' size!

Wishing You A 'Ducky' Day

Saturday, between rain showers, I went to the park with Tiger and his Mama! 

 As we took a walk around the pond we saw the ducks!

Hello Mr. Duck!

With so much rain the pond was very muddy and the ducks were all out of the water!

We had a lot of fun and made it home before the next rain shower started!

Thrifty Things Friday #117

I showed you my new sofa the other day. I'm so excited about having a new look for my living room.  I've got a small decorating budget using some birthday money.  I know I don't have to do it all at once, but I would like to get a little style going!

This pillow has been my 'dream style' for awhile.  I bought this when Judy at 20 North Ora had it on sale in her Etsy shop.  I love it!  So when sofa shopping I had it in mind.

And it looks fabulous on the new sofa but of course I need more stuff!

Yesterday I popped into Hobby Lobby just to look!  Well LOOK what I found!  On clearance for 80% off!  WOW!   Makes it in my price range.

It has the wonderful french script, a beautiful red Eiffel Tower and of course it says Paris!

What's not to love, and only $20

I also found these pillows at Big Lots for 1/2 price! 

Two really cute pillows for $12 (that's only $6 each)!

It adds another touch of the red!

I am pretty happy with both items! 

Now to figure out what else to add to the wall with the painting.  I was thinking plate rack or something black and scrollie???  Ideas??

Of course whatever I find has to be thrifty!

Settling In

Are you bored with my moving posts yet?

Sorry my friends, it's all I've got right now! 

 I brought Charlie home and this was his reaction!

He kept looking around, like where am I????

He has settled in nicely!

Watching TV with me last night on my new sofa

  I love it!  

Thought I would share with you the view from my front door!

My neighbor's door is to the right...

She has all these wonderful flowers and I get to enjoy them also!

They (meaning not me) mowed the grass this morning so everything looks great! 

    My side of the parking pad.  

As you can see the duplex's are not right on top of each other.  

It is really quiet and lovely here.  The deer come out every morning and evening.   I will try to get a photo of the two babies.  They don't seem to be too afraid!

I got some more unpacked today.  I had to take a long break since I got sick last week.  I'm all better now but had a very rough couple of days.  It felt good to get the Pyrex unpacked and put away and the Paris things back in the cubbies!

I received my new book for the book club that Brenda at Cozy Little House is starting.    I have never been in a book club but this one is online and sounds fun.  Check it out!  So far the book is really good!

Many of you asked for my new address when I moved.  You know I can't remember who...lol!
