Thrifty Things Friday

A lot has happened in the last month.
Not all of it good.
But we move on!

I have been thrifting about once a week lately and have had some good finds.  I decided to group them to share with you.  This week, pottery treasures!

I love the bamboo design on this Shawnee planter...$2
I seem to keep finding these little bird planters.  This one has a repaired wing but for $1 still cute!

These cute little pots were .79 each and the one with the bow is adorable!
(edited to add that the white pottery is McCoy!)
My favorite find in pottery these last few weeks...
This wall pocket planter
I saw some on Ebay but no maker listed.  I love it though and only $2

Thank you for all the sweet words about Annie.  She has settled in nicely and is such a cute little thing.  I'm so glad she and I found each other.

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

$6.05 For All This!

Today I took a bag of things to the thrift shop and of course I had to look around
and of course I found a few things!
They all fit into this blue gift bag!
and only cost $6.05

So what's inside?
Five books and a great little hammered metal container originally from Bed, Bath & Beyond
Some linens including a pink linen pillow cover for my bed and a cute Christmas burlap bag
Four placemats green and red plaid
I can't wait to do a table with these at Christmas!

this gorgeous milk glass plate and three glass pepper ornaments
A pumpkin to craft with, a glass Christmas jar and this owl
He still has the paper Enesco sticker on the bottom
I think he is very cool!!

This thrift store supports Battered Women and Children and is my favorite place to shop here.
Nothing is priced (which usually drives me crazy) but it's always so inexpensive I never feel like I'm paying too much.  I like to support this store and boy do I!!

Easter Tablescapes

Since I'm not home to set a new Easter table, I thought I would share a few from previous years!
This tablescape had a rabbit theme in 2010
I love these April Cornell linens!

In 2012 the rabbits inspired another table
Pink and Blue for Easter
This thrift shop rabbits are some of my favorite finds at only .80 each!

This table from 2010 was also lots of fun
And featured a place setting for my 'hoped for' Grandchild....
Maybe next year I can host Easter dinner at my house and use these fun place mats!
This Bunny napkin ring makes me smile!

In 2012 I set an Easter table for Two!
I love the blue and whites used on this table
A simple but fun centerpiece says it all!

I will enjoy being with my Mom this year but will miss hunting eggs with Tiger.
There is always next year!

Things are moving along here in Texas.  It is such a big job to downsize but we are working on it.  Mom continues to improve health wise and so we are on track to have her moved to Georgia by June 15th!  We will all be glad when this move is over.   I miss my family but talk to them frequently, in fact Tiger called me today to thank me for his Easter card.  Thank goodness for all the photos and videos his parents share with me!

I'm so sorry I haven't been visiting but Diann and I are trying our best and really appreciate you joining the fun at TTF!

Thrifty Things Friday #152

Diann and I are so glad to see you!

This week I'm sharing some thrifty items I bought this week.

$2.41
That is what I paid for all of these items at my favorite thrift store.
I love these Tupperware canisters.  I have several and they are great in the kitchen pantry or in the craft room!  These need a good washing and one of the tops has a chunk missing, but for the price these were a great find!
These toddler cups were like new and keep Tiger from spilling his drinks on the carpet while visiting Grandma.
I fell in love with this little Santa bird, looks like he slipped on the ice and broke his wing....
This tray is perfect for Tiger's visits.  He can sit on the floor with a snack or use it as a coloring or play doh table.  So all this (including the tray) for only $2.41 (including tax) was a SCORE!

I've been looking for some new pillows for the couch to lighten up for Spring.  Being the 'frugal' person I am I've looked and looked.
I found these on clearance yesterday at Target for 50% off!  Yay!

Love this soft purple.  Its not a color I use often but I really like it on the couch.  They also have a zipper and inserts so I can change out the covers!
Both for $25

Thrifty Things Friday #151

So happy to see you!
Diann and I look forward each week to seeing what you have to share at TTF!

This week I'm sharing my thrifty St. Patrick's Day decorations.  I just add a few 'touches' of green here and there!
Lot's of green in one of the cubbies
Some favorite plates on the wall
This shamrock plate and cup on a shelf are two of my favorites.
The shamrock coasters are in a light green planter and just look cute!  The gorgeous vase is a family treasure I'll share more about soon.
This sits on the pass through from the kitchen to the living room
I love how the milk glass with the green is so pretty!
I hung this little tag on one of my vintage candy jars

All of my decorations are thrift shop finds!
I like being able to decorate for pennies for holidays!
What do you have to share this week?

Thrifty Things Friday #150

Diann and I are so glad to see you

This week I'm sharing a thrifty organizational tip with you.  It's not original to me but I finally decided to try this and I love it.
Scarfs....I love them!
I wore them daily in Paris and bought a few to bring home.  Putting them in a drawer and having to search through them when I want to wear one is a pain...so I decided to try this.
I took one of my wooden hangers and used plastic shower rings I bought at the thrift shop
I put the rings on the hanger and each ring holds a scarf!
I can see them at a glance and I love it!
I hung mine on the inside of the closet door on an hook rack that was already there so it doesn't tip as it does just hung from the hanger hook.
Easy and inexpensive.  I can also hang this inside the closet out of the way during the summer when no one wears a cute scarf in Georgia!

That's my little thrifty tip this week.
I can't wait to see what you have to share.

Thrifty Things Friday #149

Thanks for joining Diann and I for

I've had a virus all week and so instead of a new post I thought I would show you some of the dishes I've used in tablescapes and that have now been donated.
Re-thrifting is as important as thrifting!

The first set of dishes is on the chopping block, but are still here.  The restaurant ware and the lovely blue and white dishes were donated before I moved.
Some pretty plates in this group...all were donated except the solid green and black plates.
I find solid color plates to be the backbone of my tablescaping after the basic white plate of course!
The orange dishes, most of the Fiesta ware and the Halloween plates are all gone.  Often once they are used I just have to let them go.  The Fiesta was hard to part with, but it is so heavy and I had to downsize.  I still have 'some' Fiesta.
The cherry plates, green plates and white with the flowers are gone.  I still have the solid blue plates, the milk glass and the egg coddler.
The set of Federal Blue glassware was also donated.

I still have a closet full of dishes and glassware.  I'm still working on downsizing, but it's hard as many of you know.  I'm trying to do a tablescape and then donate plates that I don't think I will use again.  One of the hardest sets to donate were these fish plates
I loved these plates but didn't use them enough to keep them.

So what have you been up to this week?
