Honey I'm Home!!!

I'm back home in Georgia!  I had a wonderful trip and visit with family, but it is always good to be back home!

A big Birthday wish to Mr. ALC today!
I made banana nut muffins for breakfast and gave him his 'bag o' junk' present!  He loved it all!
My guy truly is a junker and I love it!

This old Polaroid belonged to my Dad and now is part of Mr ALC's camera collection
(he loves it)

Two items for a couple of his other collections
The shaving mug was found at an Estate sale and the travel alarm at a thrift store

This is my favorite of the gifts!
I found this Fresh-o-later at my friend Sherry's booth in Laurel, Ms.  I knew as much as my guy loves coffee this was a great gift for him!
The Fresh-O-Later was made by the Community Coffee company back in the 1930's and they have been selling them ever since!

This was a fun joke gift!
I found this book at the thrift store and had to get it.  Mr ALC is always saying we live with a neurotic cat!  It is a very funny book!

Charlie is not so sure the book is THAT funny!
Charlie is looking over the pile of 'stuff' I got from my parent's garage....
good stuff of course!

We will be enjoying dinner and a movie at home tonight and maybe some cake!

I'm linking up to Thrifty Things Friday even if I am  late!  Hope you are having a fun weekend!

Thrifting On The Road

I do love to go thrifting and while I'm traveling is no exception!  I shared my stop at Sherry's wonderful booth in the Antique Mall, but of course I've done a bit of shopping while here in Texas as well!

First let me say the prices in the thrift stores have just gone out of sight!  Not kidding!!  I have been in about 6 thrifts since being here and only bought a couple of things.....mostly books!
These all look good and I'm already into "A Summer Affair" by Elin Hilderbrand
I did find this little blue and white owl for $1 and I really like that it's a bank....
cute huh?

So that's it for my thrifting finds here in Texas!
Pretty slim pickins as they say!

Earth Day ~ Let's Dish

Before I share photos of my tablescape for Kathleen's challenge of "The Good Earth" I must admit I put this together in a hurry and last minute before leaving for my trip to Texas.
I didn't want to miss joining but you might see a few 'spots' on the dishes and other less then perfect shots.

The first thing that came to mind for this challenge was earth colors and these new plates and bowls I had picked up at the thrift store were just right
The black, brown and grey colors seemed perfect!
My other inspiration was the adorable mushroom place card holders I won from Kathleen in the fun St Patrick's Day Blog Crawl.  Perfect for such an earth-y table.
You can see the pattern on the plates in this photo.  I added a black plate, rattan charger and a black napkin to the setting.
The flatware is from World Market and a perfect shade of putty on a brown placemat
Vintage brown wine glass and a black champagne glass were added to the table
A green plant was the easiest centerpiece (and what I had...) I added a sweet bird on the rattan charger in the same colors as the plate pattern
These Mushroom salt and pepper shakers were found on the World Longest Yard Sale and have been waiting for just the right tablescape for them to appear
Very simple but it adds to the theme of
Earth Day

Thank you Kathleen for hosting such a fun party
and for The Good Earth challenge!
Please be sure to visit Cuisine Kathleen for
Let's Dish and see many more lovely tablescapes!

Southern Fun!

Welcome to Laurel, Mississippi!
What could be more fun then a visit with a blogging friend?  How about Estate sales, yard sales and a visit to a fabulous Antique Mall with that same friend and her adorable 85 year old Mom!  That is what I was able to do with my wonderful friend Sherry at Back 2 Vintage
This is the Antique Mall where Sherry sells the wonderful vintage goodies she finds
I could not resist shopping here of course!
Look at all that vintage goodness!
Great vintage plates and cute egg cups!
I love this display cabinet
So many treasures and great prices!
This cabinet kept 'talking' to me but I left it for someone else to take home
However these items said take me and I said
This sweet vintage baby dish is also now mine!

So if you ever get a chance to visit Laurel, MS
Be sure to stop by and visit Back 2 Vintage and find a treasure to take home!

I found some awesome deals at the Estate Sales and Yard sales but they are all packed up in my car.  I'll share photos of them when I return home the end of the month!  I want to thank Sherry and her sweet Husband for their warm hospitality!
I also met and fell in love with this sweet girl!
Sherry's cat Smokey!

Sherry blogged about my visit Here
Check out some of the fun goodies she found on our Estate and Yard sale adventures!

I'm in Texas now and enjoying a visit with my Mom!

Catching Up!

Seems like the week is flying by and I haven't posted since Sunday!  I need to catch up on a few things!

First of all here are some pictures of Tiger taken by his parents last weekend!  Saturday April 7th was his actual birthday and then Sunday was Easter!
Birthday Breakfast!  Pancakes!
I found these great Williams-Sonoma Pancake molds for trucks, trains and planes and gave them to Blake for his birthday April 3rd.  They used the train for Tiger's first birthday breakfast!
Playtime in the Park!
Tiger loves the park and playground and now that he is walking he has to wear shoes (he loves his bare feet).  He did pretty well with them and had a good time his Mom said!
Eating his first PB&J sandwich and of course he loved it!

Easter was pretty low key this year but Tiger enjoyed opening his plastic eggs...empty??
Daddy put some Chex cereal in them and Tiger had a great time opening and eating each piece of cereal.

I spent the day with them Tue and had a wonderful visit.  I'm about to make a trip to Texas wanted to get some last Tiger love!
I swear Sara and I heard him say 'Grandma' and we both smiled!  I love this sweet boy so much.
His Mommy and Daddy are pretty special also!

Now to my Texas update
Most of you know the last time I was in Texas my brother was diagnosed with liver failure and given just a few months to live.  Since Nov he has seen another Dr and was told that he has longer if he takes better care of himself and will eat.
He has been trying and is doing better.  Holding his own I like to say.  It's time for another trip to see him, my Mom and my other extended family in Houston.  I will return before the end of the month to celebrate Mr ALC's Birthday!

On my way to Texas I'm going to stop and visit my friend Sherry (Back 2 Vintage).  I am so excited!  Sherry and I met blogging and have become great on-line friends.  We met once when she and her husband were traveling through the Atlanta area.  It was a quick in the parking lot hug and chat but we knew we would get together again.
Sherry and Linda (I'm the fluffy one)
Now Sherry just happens to live in Laurel, MS which just happens to be a good half way point in my drive to Texas!  What could be better!  Sherry has invited me to stay and also go to an Estate sale with her and her Mom.  I can hardly wait!
There will be more blogging of our adventures I'm sure!  If you don't know Sherry visit her here and I will also be taking her the pepper shaker in this post!

My sweet Mr ALC will be staying home and taking care of things here.  Charlie will start following him around as soon as he realizes I'm gone!  He hates it when I leave but I do come back!
I miss both my guys while I am gone!

I will be blogging but not able to join some of the parties I normally join.  Just depends on my junkin KNOW there will be junkin right?

Hugs to all,

Easter Cubbies

I almost forgot to share my cubbies in their Easter Finery!
Lots of bunnies but a few other fun items here and there
Green, Pink and White color palate is inspired by the Franciscan Desert Rose basket.
A Easter card from my friend Deb is a perfect addition to this side vignette.
A closer look....
Bunnies everywhere
Salt and Pepper shakers make cute additions to the cubbies
Hear no Evil
and Speak no Evil bunnies
were found at a thrift store for .50 ea
See no Evil was no where to be found
I love this green rabbit plate and use it every year!

This small vignette on the desk features the sweet Peter Rabbit cup and saucer found at the thrift shop

I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend and I wish you many Easter blessings!
