What's Up Wednesday On A Thursday!

 For my June birthday, my friend Carter and I went to the mountains.  We drove through the Smokey Mountains to Bryson City, NC.  Pretty views along the way and a cute little town.  I did a little shopping in an adorable vintage shop!

Outside they had plants and this great bike with flowers!  We also stopped at some thrift stores and a Flea Market.  I had a good time and found some treasures!

PINK!  All the pottery pieces were bargains.  The vases were both .50 each.  The little planter was $5

The flower frog was in the vintage shop and a bargain at $3.  I found this Flamingo spreader for .25 at a thrift shop.  I love it when I can add things to my existing collections.

I have a hard time leaving sweet little vintage wine glasses at the thrift shop.  This one was .25, the ceramic owl has magnets to hang on the fridge and hold pencils and was $1.50.

This gorgeous milk glass compote with lid was $8 and is in wonderful condition.  I found it at the Flea Market!

We stopped at an Antique Market in an old school and it was like a museum of gorgeous items.  Lots of glassware, pottery and collections one could only dream about.  Pricey but beautiful.  I saw these Roseville pieces and fawned over them.  I hadn't seen these except in books.  Amazing works of art!

Nothing purchased here but worth the stop just to look.

Treating Myself!

I had a little bit of time the other day so I stopped into one of my favorite Antique Malls, Junk in the Trunk!  I gave myself $10 to spend.  So can you pick the item I bought?

Pink McCoy pottery but $15 will I splurge?

I love these glasses, a set of 8 for $10 but I already have some in green so should I buy these?

So what did I buy?

Well I didn't buy this adorable thing

It is a baby tub, the lid comes off!

Only $85 but I wanted to share the photo because I thought it was so sweet!

So after much looking and thinking I brought home...

The yellow McCoy planter for $5

I love how it fits in with my other McCoy yellow pottery and is so Springy! 

I've also been doing more with my watercolors (I'm obsessed I tell ya)

First flower.  It was an exercise using only one color and I was to try and get different levels of transparency.  It's only OK but I'm learning so much.

I really like this one.  I used a wet on wet method to get the more blurred images and it was fun.  

An exercise using only 4 colors.

I must tell you I am loving watercolor painting so much!  I had to order some more watercolor paper and I got some great deals from Amazon.  I also got a fun set of brushes I'll play with and share soon.  

My beautiful daughter Sara turned 35 yesterday.  I love this photo from when she was 5 years old.  She still has that smile and yes, Tiger looks just like her! 

So now my only question for you...

Should I got back and see if this vase is still there?

Still Thrifting?? YES!!

I haven't shared a thrifty finds post in a very long time.  I am still visiting my favorite thrift stores, but not as frequently and I'm buying much much less.  One reason is that I'm downsizing my collections so buying less and also trying to only buy things I need or really love!

This sweet little transferware dish falls into the LOVE category!  Its a tiny little thing and it was only .50!!  Unmarked but maybe a nut dish? 

I'll drop rings or earrings in it on my dresser.

Also in the love category, is this shelf sitter.  This little girl's face is priceless and for .25 she had to come to my house for Christmas! 

This haul includes a few loves, some useful items and yes something for one of my collections!

Sometimes pretty things just need to be saved.  This pottery leaf was too nice to leave at the thrift shop and those cookie cutters will be great for crafting.  Under $1 for both...score.

I love the soup bowls with the little handles.  I recently bought one at Big Lots for $4 but got both of these for $1 total..score.  I love Tervis Tumblers and when I find them in good shape and cheap I buy.  The glass spoon and the ceramic shoe...ok so these might have been impulse buys but they were cheap!  

I haven't bought milk glass in ages but these pieces were too pretty and such a good bargain.  The plates (there are two of them) match my collection in the Harvest pattern.  The sweet little bowl with the green insides just called to me!  All three for $2...

I am always looking for things for the Grands.  Tiger is into Super Hero's so these 4 were $1 total.  I also always buy books and at .50 each a great bargain.  The picnic basket shape sorter was $1. 

So YES I am still thrifting!

N is for New!

Last week I shared with you my McCoy pottery collection and 'hinted' at another purchase!

I won an Ebay bid on two lots of McCoy pottery getting a super bargain! A total of 7 pieces and the cost was less then $9 each including shipping! 

SCORE!

Here are some of my NEW (to me) McCoy

These two vases are in average shape but the pink piece is a gorgeous Art Deco style and is so pretty!

These four are my favorites in the lot!

This turquoise planter has such a pretty glaze on it.  The tulip pot I have wanted for ages and they are usually $20-$30 on Ebay plus shipping!  

I love this yellow ivy hanging planter (originally they had chains they hung from) and I'm going to plant something in this! (average price for this piece was about $25 on Etsy)

This bulb bowl might be my favorite piece...maybe

anyway, it's gorgeous color and design just make me so happy

Wait, didn't I say SEVEN pieces...oh yes well sadly one arrived like this...

I am so sad as this was one of the pieces I was so looking forward to having.  The handles are amazing.  Since it wasn't wrapped correctly, the seller gave me a refund.

I am going to try to glue it back together to at least display it.  Hey we all have some chips and cracks on us but we still have value! 

So that's my New to me McCoy and I'm tickled to add these pieces to my collection.  I think I'm done looking on Ebay/Etsy for awhile but this was a great score for sure!

M is for McCoy Pottery

I love pottery! 

I am very drawn to it and have had various collections over the years.  One of my favorites is McCoy!  I think my first piece was this.

Found in a thrift shop for very little money it holds pens in my workroom!

Not a valuable piece by any means but one that makes me happy.

One day in a thrift shop I found this Aqua bud vase and was so excited.  I paid $1 for it and truly this started my McCoy collecting.  The yellow vase was found many years later and it was also $1.

In an Antique Mall I saw a very expensive piece I just knew I wanted.  I found one on Ebay at a reasonable price

With my love of cats this was a piece I really wanted (in pink) but love the blue/green glaze.

It's a yarn holder!

One year at the World's Longest Yard Sale I bought a collection of 8 ceramic baby shoes for $5 and this was among them.  It's unmarked McCoy and I've seen it in several reference books.

I didn't buy any more McCoy for a long time but began to get the collecting bug again on one of my last trips to the World's Longest Yard Sale when I found this piece.

From the 'Wild Rose Line' of McCoy the Pink flowers really called my name.

My blog friend Claudia @ Mockingbird Hill Cottage is a big collector of McCoy and I've learned so much from her.  I bought a couple of used reference books and learned even more.  

I sent her this piece for her birthday last year.

Also found at the WLYS, it makes me happy to know it's in her home!

When I found this sugar bowl at the thrift shop this Spring, my desire for some McCoy was ignited!

This gorgeous piece was found in a local Antique Mall and the owner of the booth happened to be there and gave me an incredible deal on it! 

A birthday present for myself! 

Claudia mentioned that she found some good deals on line so I started searching Etsy and Ebay.

One seller had this sweet bird planter 

and this unmarked piece from the Rustic Line

I made an offer for both and got a great deal!

Now I was on a roll and had some birthday money
so I looked some more.

This sweet pair of vases from the Blossomtime Line were on Ebay and I had a low bid and won!

I collect Pink Pottery and hadn't seen much pink in McCoy so when I saw this vase at a great price

I knew I wanted it for my collection.

From the Spring Wood Line it is a true pink.

At a local antique mall called Junk in the Trunk
I found this white planter for $5

This piece is from around the late 60's

Someone added some green felt to keep it from scratching a table I guess.  I like it's shape.
At this same place I found this piece of unmarked McCoy and had to have it.

I found it listed in both my books as McCoy.

So that's my collection so far.  Some of the gorgeous vases Claudia have call my name.  I keep on the lookout for good deals.  I 'may' have found one on Ebay the other night, but you'll have to wait and see!
