Treating Myself!

I had a little bit of time the other day so I stopped into one of my favorite Antique Malls, Junk in the Trunk!  I gave myself $10 to spend.  So can you pick the item I bought?

Pink McCoy pottery but $15 will I splurge? 

Vintage pottery and only $4

More McCoy pottery but also $15

I love these glasses, a set of 8 for $10 but I already have some in green so should I buy these?

A fur collar and only $10??

So what did I buy?

Well I didn't buy this adorable thing

It is a baby tub, the lid comes off!

Only $85 but I wanted to share the photo because I thought it was so sweet!

So after much looking and thinking I brought home...

The yellow McCoy planter for $5

I love how it fits in with my other McCoy yellow pottery and is so Springy! 

I've also been doing more with my watercolors (I'm obsessed I tell ya)

First flower.  It was an exercise using only one color and I was to try and get different levels of transparency.  It's only OK but I'm learning so much.

I really like this one.  I used a wet on wet method to get the more blurred images and it was fun.

I must tell you I am loving watercolor painting so much!  I had to order some more watercolor paper and I got some great deals from Amazon.  I also got a fun set of brushes I'll play with and share soon.  

My beautiful daughter Sara turned 35 yesterday.  I love this photo from when she was 5 years old.  She still has that smile and yes, Tiger looks just like her! 

So now my only question for you...

Should I got back and see if this vase is still there?

National Thrift Shop Day!

Who knew? 

National Thrift shop day? 

I'm all in for celebrating!!

A recent trip to the North Georgia Mountains provided me a chance to shop some new to me thrift shops.  Here are my fun finds!

This bathroom tray (originally from Bed, Bath and Beyond) was $1 as was the cute Avon bunny.   The wonderful pink pottery was marked down at another thrift shop to yes, $1

I've been collecting Golden Books for my friend Sherry and these three were .75...total! 

I could not resist this .25 ashtray because it is the same pattern as the little nut cup I found several months ago.  Restaurant ware from Syracuse china.

My favorite finds however where these two Paris prints...

Just .50 each, but the real treasure was written on the back

Purchases in 1992 on a 50th wedding anniversary trip to Europe! 

I just love them.  I will frame and hang on my walls. 

I think I'll take Mom to the local thrift shops today, I mean it is a holiday right?

Junkin' with Donna & The Pink Post

I had a junkin date with my friend Donna (Distressed Donna Down Home)

We had to reschedule it due to my unplanned surgery but we were able to set a new date.  This time I drove to Augusta to meet her and see her booth!

We hit several thrift stores and antique malls during the day.  Now I confess to trying to take photos with my phone several times but it just would not work!  Too Hot? 

Who knows, but we had a blast and as the day progressed most of my purchases had a common theme...PINK!

So here is the Pink Post!

This bowl was $1 and the decorated edge is raised and just so darn pretty!

This big stoneware crock is a lovely shade of PINK!

A sweet little Fire King berry bowl and an orphan shaker for my collection

This Hull pottery pitcher was so unusual and had so much PINK on it and was such a great price I had to have it.

A pretty PINK flower frog for my growing collection and I also found

this clear glass oval frog with large holes for candles.  Great prices on both.

These PINK pottery bookend planters had to be my favorite purchase.  A pretty low price and when I got to the checkout, 1/2 price!!  Score. 

Donna and I had lunch at The Boil Weevil Cafe in Augusta, GA.  Such a cute little cafe and the sandwiches were excellent.  BUT, the desserts are out of this world!  I got to choose a piece of cake since we were celebrating my Birthday and it was a really hard choice. I finally went with the Coffee Toffee, layers of chocolate cake with a hint of coffee iced with coffee buttercream and dark chocolate genache!   Our waiter added a drizzle of raspberry over the whipped cream.  So this is probably the best cake I have EVER had!  Huge piece which Donna and I shared and I still had some to take home.  I would drive back there just for that cake! 

Donna and I always exchange gifts! 

I was able to pick out some things from her booth.  This PINK chalk board that Donna made and this PINK quilt that I saw on her blog and requested she save for me!  As always we had a great time!  Donna blogged about our adventure here so you can check out her great finds!

Pottery Finds!

My pottery collection is one of my favorites and back in the Fall I had some fun finds on Ebay!

This vase is so interesting!  I love the grey vase with the burgundy bird.  This McCoy piece was priced low and I was thrilled to add it to my collection! 

I've long wished for these next two items.  My friend and enabler Claudia (Mockingbird Hill Cottage) has a few of these on her piano and I always find my eye going to them.  Well I found two at separate times on Ebay and won them at low prices...happy dance!

The singing birds are just so sweet!

I love how these bookcase shelves turned out.

Claudia also has started sharing some of her Roseville pottery collection.  I thought the glazes were so pretty and that if I found a piece at a good price I might add it to my pottery collection.

While in Texas and waiting for someone to meet me at my brother's apartment, I saw a little antique store and stopped in.  These pretty Roseville candlesticks caught me eye and the price was $16 for the pair.  I believe it's the Apple Blossom pattern.

This piece was found on Ebay and no one else bid on it and so it came home to me.  I love the blue so much.  

This pattern is Water Lily, gorgeous!

Pottery and Ebay can be addictive!  

I used some Christmas money to buy this beautiful piece.

This large console bowl in the Magnolia pattern.  Again an Ebay find that no one else bid on and I got for a great price (even with shipping).  I saw it listed for twice what I paid for it several times on Ebay.  (You all know I'm a bargain hunter right??)

So where am I putting all this new pottery?  

In the Secretary of course.

This is a work in progress.  Trying things out to see if I like how they are displayed and continuing to play with arrangements.  I love having another place to display my pottery.

W is for White

Last week I shared my collection of green pottery so today I'm sharing my white pottery collection.

I display most of the white pottery (and some ironstone :) in the TV stand.

All of the white pottery and ironstone pieces have been found at thrift stores, yard sales and flea markets.  None of them cost more then a dollar or two at the most.

They are great to store decorative items in

Ironstone sugar and creamers look great with the planter collection.

Pretty Pottery

I love pottery and have been collecting it for many years.  

My latest additions are all thrifty finds!

These two were found at the same thrift shop.  Both are old and not particularly valuable, but I paid less then $1 for both of them.

Love the pink on this sweet little bird planter

and blue tickets were 1/2 price!

The condition on this one is a little rough, but that sweet decal and flower detail on the bottom make up for it

I love mini's and these two pieces are the newest additions to my small collection

The blue pitcher was $3 at an Antique Mall

The white basket was $1 at a thrift shop

Both are marked USA and are most likely Shawnee or McCoy
