A Few Thrifty Finds

I've continued my downsizing but as you know once a junker always a junker.  So yes I still shop the thrifts but I buy less and less.
My finds are few but one's I really love!
I've already shared this egg cup, but I also found these two Tervis Tumblers for .50 each!  They have Flamingos on them so they make me really happy.  I will have to buy a lid for them so I can use them in the car.
Corning Ware and Tupperware
Wonderful flowered pillow cases, shape cutters for Tiger to use with his playdoh and a divided pen holder to use on my art desk.  Also two Corelle plates.  All for under $4
$3 for this wonderful little table for the Grands.  The legs fold up for easy storage.
Pink is still on my mind with baby girl due any time now...I also found this great vintage jar for $1
The mini pottery was .41 and the beautiful serving dish (depression glass I think) was $2.99
A cute Vera Bradley wallet for $1.59
This bag will come in handy to carry baby things, it was $1.99 in new condition and I really like that I can wear it cross body.
I was very excited to find this charming sugar bowl at the thrift shop
It's McCoy so $6 was a good price to me.

I'm joining these parties

Baby girl has still not made her appearance.  She should arrive any moment now and we are all on pins and needles waiting!

Wishing you JOY

Confession Time

Friends it's been 14 days since my last post.
Excuses?  I have a few.
Life seems to have gotten in the way of blogging once again.  This time it's not been anything big, just a busy life and feeling like I didn't have much to blog about.
I've been visiting and commenting but not blogging,
so today let's catch up a little.
My spare room once again became a dumping ground.  I finally got over my cold (which hung on for two weeks) and tackled this mess.
This chest was moved to my daughter's house and is now holding all of the new babies clothes(she is due in a few weeks...we are so excited)
Not only did I need to edit and go through all these boxes, I needed to edit all these shelves.
I bought this folding craft table.  It's small but fits in the area I have available.  Now on to the shelves.
I moved some of the glassware to another spot.(I'll share that soon).  Opened up some shelves for craft supplies.
This gives me some art space and storage for my supplies.  Not as neat as some have, but it's a work in progress for sure.
The shelves still have some glasses I need to re-home.
These shelves are a bit more organized, but again a work in progress!
Scrapbooking supplies came out of this room to be sorted.
I'm not making scrapbooks any longer but not ready to just donate all these items.
I find in a small place that I keep making a mess in one room to try to clean up another room.  My goal is to make my home less cluttered and yet keep the things I love.
(if any of you are interested in some scrapbooking supplies let me know...they are for sale at a cheap price)
Next up....this storage unit in my dining area!

I promise to blog more.
I have art projects to share and a fun road trip with my girlfriends!

Winter in the Cubbies

After the color and intense visual impact of Christmas, I like to make the winter cubbies a little bit simpler.

A bit of a black and white theme
A few of my white ironstone pieces
Creamers and small pitchers create a space for the eyes to rest but still looks interesting.
This was just fun!
Silver trees, black truck and Eiffel Tower bottle and sheep?  I love it for some reason!
I moved my Paris cubbie collection over to this bookcase and I love it.  I keep finding treasures to include here. My latest find is a egg cup.
This vintage souvenir egg cup was found on Etsy and I had to have it!

I'll share the other bookcase soon.

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

A New Project For 2015

I have wanted to start doing some Art Projects this year.  My friend and fellow blogger Vicky at Life on Willie Mae Lane shared her participation in The Documented Life Project~2015.  I was so in love with the idea that I decided to join in.

Each month will have a theme and
each week will have an Art Challenge and a Journal Prompt

I choose a journal and got started!
January Theme
The Blank Page and How to Face It

Art Challenge:  Book Paper
Journal Prompt: Be Your Own Goal Keeper

I used book papers and other paper ephemera to cover my blank page
I used paint, markers and stickers to decorate the page.  My 'Goals' are inside the little envelope with Linda on the front and numbered 1,2,3!
I added a quote and called it done!

I love seeing how everyone interprets the prompts and how it means different things to everyone.
I will be doing the 2nd week soon
and will continue to share with you.

Check it out if you are interested in Joining this fun project!

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Crazy Christmas!

It is only December 8th and it has been a crazy month so far!
More decorating has happened
My 4 ft tree is up and decorated
I really loaded it down this year with favorite ornaments.
The tree topper is a vintage elf kneehugger this year!
I am so filled with JOY
This Santa was found in a large bag of Christmas decorations left beside the recycle bins.  I took this guy and a couple of other things and donated the rest to my favorite thrift shop.
This book case got two shelves of winter items
More Christmas and vintage in the other bookshelf
Items I've found thrifting and also gifts from friends
make my Christmas decorations extra special
Mostly vintage in the cubbies
Angels, Elves and Mr/Mrs Santa
The birds have found a warm home on a thrifted plaid scarf.
A little red bird has joined them after...
a little accident...Whoops!
I've been working on getting everything decorated and gifts in the mail this week.
Still hoping to get out a few Christmas cards also.

So remember this post not long ago
When I announced I was going to be a Grandma again?  Well we found out....
It's a GIRL!
So happy and excited!

A Look Back!

I will set my table tomorrow for Thanksgiving
It will be a small gathering but still fun and festive
I thought I'd take a look back at some previous Thanksgiving tables
I had just started tablescaping in 2009
I was pretty darn happy with how it turned out even if I did take 'flash' photos!
2010 saw some changes on this table for two!
2011 saw another table for two!
I really loved how this plate stack turned out!
2012 I spent Thanksgiving with friends after a long visit to my Mom in Texas.
I didn't set a table but I did do this 'copycat' challenge!

Last year I had my first Thanksgiving in my new home with Ashleigh, Sara, Blake & Tiger!
It was a simple table but we had a great time together!  I tend not to put too many things where a toddler can get at them!

So tomorrow I'll start pulling out dishes, linens, flatware and glasses and set the table for 2014!
I hope you will check back on Wed to share it with me!
