Friday Finds!

It has been awhile since I did a Friday finds.  Since I'm not thrifting very much these days I don't have a lot to share.  I do wander through the thrifts but have cut my buying down to almost nothing!
This cute cat earring holder was found at GW and I just had to have it!  It is on my dresser and holding some of my favorite earrings!
I had butterflies on my mind when I bought this .99 plastic bin.  Not sure what to do with it but it's mine now!
I love vintage table cloths and this Christmas one is round and makes a great tree skirt for $1
These footed glasses were hard to photograph, but the dragonfly on them had me smiling!  Only .75 for three!
(I looked for that 4th glass but guess that's why they were at the thrift, only 3 of them)

Three Lefton Lambs for $1
So cute!

This Hall restaurant ketchup container was .99 at Habitat for Humanity!
I could not pass this cutie up!

I've been doing a little planting as Spring has sprung!
A tomato plant
and some Herbs for my Mom
These are outside our mutual front doors.  I got this little fountain as a surprise for Mom.
It is solar powered but with the wind blowing it blows the water everywhere and empties the bird bath or bucket pretty fast!  So maybe in summer with less wind it will work better, but it's cute!

We have bird feeders and flowers and hope to plant a few more things.
In front of Mom's window and both our front doors!
In front of my window so Annie Belle and I can watch the birds from inside.
We have a young pair of Cardinals we are watching grow!
We have such a deer problem here in our neighborhood but they don't like these flowers very much so they might last!

It's cold and rainy today but hopefully I'll get a bit more outdoor planting done this weekend.

Annie says this is not her 'best' side but as you can tell from this view she has gained a lot of weight.  I bought her 'diet' food and now if I can just get her to play a bit more and lose some weight.  I am careful about the amount of food I give her but she has 'fluffed' right up!
Still a sweetie and loves her Mama...even if I do have her on a diet!

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Birds Everywhere!

I love my bird collection and in Spring enjoy seeing them in the cubbies.  Even as crazy as life is right now I took the time to let them fly around!
I've been collecting birds for several years now. They just make me smile.
The vintage pink and blue bird planter is a recent find on Etsy.  It is so cute and a perfect addition to my collection.
A few little 'tweets' just for you (did you see the tiny cat in the cubby?)
This adorable little egg cup was a sweet gift from my friend and fellow egg cup collector Claudia!
I love that face!
Claudia is also a collector of McCoy pottery and this green and brown bird planter flew in my home after seeing one on her blog.  She is a bad?good? influence on me :)

On a personal note, my daughter Ashleigh will be here this weekend for a visit.  It will be wonderful to have a Mother's Day with both of my daughters, my Mom, my son in law and my two grands all together!  Life is good.

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Window Glass

I like to set glass in my front windows to catch the light.  One of my collections has a permanent place in the dining room window...my pretty Blue Birds of Happiness.  Not all of mine are made by the famous Terra Studios, but most of them are.  I've found them all at thrifts and yard sales.
Here is what the window looked like for quite awhile.  I love the blue glass pitchers also.
Recently I decided to change it up a bit and while in Hobby Lobby found two items for my window.
These pretty little glass tiles.
Dragonflies are very special to me!
There were two patterns and since I couldn't decide which one and they were 1/2 price...
I got both!
So these are some of my new favorite things along with some of my old favorite things!

A Little Thrifting!

I have done a little thrift shopping while here in Texas.  I have been trying not to buy much as I am flying home and not in my car!
Last week I found these...
Metlox pottery in the 'Fruit Basket' pattern
The sugar bowl and creamer were $2.99
The lid detail is so cute!

 I also found....
The matching Salt & Pepper for $1.50

I looked for plates or any other pieces of this pattern but found none~!
Still these will go with so many colors and will be seen in a tablescape for sure!

If you are a follower of A La Carte you know I love my Blue Birds of Happiness
I found this one for 99cents!

Now for the happy news!
At Mom's check-up on Wed her Dr said she was doing great and can resume all her activities.  This means I can go home!
I will miss Mom so much but I need to get home and start looking for a place for her to move closer!
Texas is now just too far away!
Here we are last Saturday on my Birthday!
She looks great don't you agree?

So looks like I will be flying home Monday and hopefully Mom will be moving closer in the next 6-12 months!  Thank you again for all your prayers and well wishes!

Thrifting On The Road

I do love to go thrifting and while I'm traveling is no exception!  I shared my stop at Sherry's wonderful booth in the Antique Mall, but of course I've done a bit of shopping while here in Texas as well!

First let me say the prices in the thrift stores have just gone out of sight!  Not kidding!!  I have been in about 6 thrifts since being here and only bought a couple of things.....mostly books!
These all look good and I'm already into "A Summer Affair" by Elin Hilderbrand
I did find this little blue and white owl for $1 and I really like that it's a bank....
cute huh?

So that's it for my thrifting finds here in Texas!
Pretty slim pickins as they say!

Earth Day ~ Let's Dish

Before I share photos of my tablescape for Kathleen's challenge of "The Good Earth" I must admit I put this together in a hurry and last minute before leaving for my trip to Texas.
I didn't want to miss joining but you might see a few 'spots' on the dishes and other less then perfect shots.

The first thing that came to mind for this challenge was earth colors and these new plates and bowls I had picked up at the thrift store were just right
The black, brown and grey colors seemed perfect!
My other inspiration was the adorable mushroom place card holders I won from Kathleen in the fun St Patrick's Day Blog Crawl.  Perfect for such an earth-y table.
You can see the pattern on the plates in this photo.  I added a black plate, rattan charger and a black napkin to the setting.
The flatware is from World Market and a perfect shade of putty on a brown placemat
Vintage brown wine glass and a black champagne glass were added to the table
A green plant was the easiest centerpiece (and what I had...) I added a sweet bird on the rattan charger in the same colors as the plate pattern
These Mushroom salt and pepper shakers were found on the World Longest Yard Sale and have been waiting for just the right tablescape for them to appear
Very simple but it adds to the theme of
Earth Day

Thank you Kathleen for hosting such a fun party
and for The Good Earth challenge!
Please be sure to visit Cuisine Kathleen for
Let's Dish and see many more lovely tablescapes!

A VINTAGE THRIFTY THING

It is so good to be home! I am still on Cali time but I think by this weekend will be OK!
I am taking a break from my trip photos to join in a couple of my favorite parties and share some junk!

I found this great planter at a thrift store back in the beginning of the summer.  It's been waiting to make it's appearance!
It's old and has lost lots of paint but it still has so much charm
Are they parakeets?  Love birds??
Do you know? For 50 cents I decided they were a bargain!

**Thanks to a couple of blogging friends I have found out these were made my Morton and are called Love Birds**
I'm joining Suzanne at Vintage Thingy Thursday

Please go by and visit these fun parties!

TWEET TWEET HERE, TWEET TWEET THERE

It has been a beautiful Spring here in Georgia.  Our yard has bloomed and the birds have been visiting.  We even have a nest of Hawks high up in a tree in the wooded area behind our house.  We have been trying to spy on them as they hatch and grow!  So much fun!  In keeping with the bird theme I re-did my cubbies and collected my bird collection from around the house.  Hmmmm...larger then I remembered...oh well hope you enjoy!

That is a lot of birdies!
All these birds were thrifted or bought on clearance
All of these were thrifted except the lovely Fenton Glass bird I won in a giveaway from Vintage Christine
Some of these are orphan S&P shakers so they are a double collectible for me
This vignette was created from clearance items bought at Michael's
The tray is Couroc Giftware from Monterey, CA found in a thrift shop.  The other bird decorations are from Hobby Lobby on clearance.
The yellow bird is from Michael's and the other items were thrifted
(remember the Blue Bird of Happiness?  It helped me announce that my daughter was having a baby)
I am very happy with the cubbie display

These birds are scattered around the deck garden
The Red and Blue metal birds were clearance from
Dollar General last fall
This was a Birthday present last year
I try to keep some water in it for the birds on these hot days
Dollar Tree bird

Hope you enjoyed the birdies....

How about a Tiger picture before I go
