You Might Be A Hoarder If?????

I have made some very interesting discoveries during this part of my move!
I am not a hoarder, but I have wayyyy to much stuff!
I mean I don't save scraps of paper (oh wait there are those recipes and magazine pics I like....) but now I have Pinterest so all that can be thrown away!  I can walk through my home and I can sleep on my bed (unlike many hoarders) but there have been times when I had to move things to do both.   Hmmmmmmmmmm?  But no, I am not a hoarder....a collector, a junkin/thrift addict yes and don't get me started on yard sales!  But a hoarder takes things to a whole crazy level and I know I'm not a hoarder because I am letting go of things with little or no pain (well except in my back).
All of this went to the thrift shop today!
I am finding I am ready to let go and live lighter!
I really am a plate addict, but I know I don't have room for all these in the new place and it's time to let these dishes find a new home.
Packing causes chaos!
Keep or donate?
Pack or Purge?
Decisions still to be made!
Thanks for taking this journey with me!

I hope you will join Diann and I for

Wishing You Joy,

Linda

Bless your heart ♥
(I DID see a plate in there that I would have bought off of you!)

I always say that's one of the hardest things to do. Take each item in your hand and make a decision. It is SO tiring! It sure saps your energy. But you're doing a great job! Just pace yourself as much as you can. And think of the joy you'll give that person that finds a treasure when they see what you've donated! You're blessing someone else! Sweet hugs, Sis!

Well Linda, you already know you are inspiring me like crazy! Although at the end of the day I feel like my entire body was beaten up on, it does feel great to purge!

Linda - I'm really beginning to think I am a hoarder. I just don't want to let go of "stuff". I am proud of you for getting rid of all of those goodies. I'm going to start doing that also!
(Maybe next year)

I know you'll miss all the pretty dishes you've been collecting for so long, but I'm sure they'll all make someone else very happy. When you get settled in you can start all over again:-)

You know how often I purge but my heart still stopped a sec when I saw those brown bowls.. lol

Wowsers, Linda. That sounds like an arduous task. GOOD LUCK.

And good for you letting go of things.

Oh woe is me. When I think of packing up this house, it gives me shivers.

Thanks for sharing. Susan

Trying to catch up on reading my favorite blogs since I returned home today! Sometimes it's nice to let go of things! I love "stuff" but I don;t like it when my home starts to feel too cluttered. Less is more...:) I also enjoyed reading about your delightful birthday lunch with your friends....so sweet! You received some sweet and thoughtful gifts! Your photos of Tiger were precious too....he's such a little doll! Blessings my friend! Vicky

It's really hard to know what to cull out though, isn't it! I just know that I love wide open spaces and when we move to a smaller place someday, I'll have to do as you're doing.

Hi Linda,
It's hard letting go of our "stuff." But I find that when you do, you always feel better. Just think of all the good stuff you are donating for junk hunters like us!!

hugs

For those of us who love dishes, it is difficult to let go of them. Before we moved away from the house where we had lived for 31 years, I gave away dishes I just didn't have the room to keep or pack to move. There are times when I wish I still had them, although I have also added other dishes in the nine years we've been here! I do work in times all during the year to use every one of them, though! xo Nellie

First off, good for you! It's hard work, and you are to be commended for all your efforts.

Second off, I sure wish I lived near the thrift store where those were donated. :-)

Wow, you do have a lot of plates! Good for you for cleaning some out and donating them. I need to do the same with tchotckes. ;-)

I get it, I'm a tableclothaholic, and a dishaholic myself, LOL! BUT when you do move those boxes out and get rid of stuff, you feel lifted, almost giddy, like a big weight has been taken off your shoulders. Enjoy that feeling!

We tend to break things before we can accumulate too many but yes you will feel so much better not having to move and unload all that extra stuff. I saw a plate I liked in there though.

Gosh Linda, you have some wonderful finds there. I should have asked you if you have some shallow cereal bowls when I saw you. It's too bad you didn't have time for a yard sale...you could have probably made some good money.

Oh Linda,
You have such a wonderful and story filled collection - actually collections!! This week I FINALLY cleared out my closet of shoes and some clothes. A HUGE 30 gal. trash bag of shoes! It was difficult for some of them. 2 pair of Candies from the late 80s and early 90s. Actually- they were cork platform shoes. I LOVED those shoes. but I'd break my neck now. Favorite tops I use to wear, but can't now. Took them all to the thrift shop! Feels good now. . . .

BTW- You're soooo organized and neat. You've posted photos of your closet with your glassware and china and plates. You would never be considered a hoarder.

Moving is so stressful and it is so hard to downsize the things we love. I know there will be some happy shoppers at the thrift store.

Thank you for visiting me the other day. New follower here. I, too, have slowly been getting rid of stuff. Sometimes less is better. Thank goodness I don't live near you, I may have visited the thrift store and bought some of what you donated!

I need your great firm attitude when it comes to getting rid of "stuff". As friend said to me... you must be brutal!!!
Great post... I'm sure you love living lighter!!!

Hi Linda,

I noticed your hoarder post and had to smile. Being thrifty can lead to holding on to some things a little longer than I should. Of course, that's also being creative. I can just always think of something to do or make with all that stuff. I'm much better than I used to be and definitely don't meet the definition of hoarder. ~smile~ No, honest!
