When Kathleen gave us our Let's Dish challenge for July, it made me very happy!
Our theme is A Destination Tablescape
So come join me as we prepare for our trip to
If your a follower of A La Carte you know that Paris has been a dream of mine since I was a teenager. This past Mother's Day my daughter Ashleigh gifted me with a trip to Paris, France which I will take sometime in 2013
This table is a fun way to prepare for my trip!
These Paris dessert plates were found at two different thrift stores.
I love them of course!
I used the colors from the dessert plate to make this black, white and red table
All of these plates were thrifted. Red charger plate, black Fiesta plate, red salad plate and the fun desert plates!
I bought the black and white placemats at Dollar Tree
A black stemmed wineglass to toast with
The centerpiece is my collection of items from or about Paris, France
The postcard is from a friends trip to Paris. The small Eiffel Tower souvenir was brought back from Paris by my daughter Sara when she went with her High School Choir! She had an amazing time and her choir was able to sing in Notre Dame!
My Paris travel guide and a 'French for Travellers' book are topped by a larger Eiffel Tower that was a gift to Mr ALC!
Anytime I receive a card with a Paris theme it joins my collection!
This Eiffel Tower tealight holder was also thrifted
A simple black napkin and a red napkin ring along with my red handled flatware complete this setting
I want to try a crockpot Coq Au Vin recipe
Parlez-vous Francais?
Un peu!
Guess I better start studying! It's been many years since High School French!
Thanks Kathleen for hosting
au revoir!
Linda

Oh you lucky girl! I would love to go there, or anywhere in Europe! Your table is so groovy! Lovin' the black, white and red!
Oh, la la! Je adore your Parisian theme table. I'm so excited to hear that you are going to get to experience Paris. I've plenty of suggestions to share of things to do and see, but honestly letting serendipity take you along is the best way to see Paris. ~ Sarah

It's beautiful, Linda! Love the colors, love the Eiffel tower plates!
If I could remember my own high school French, I would respond with something fabulous. The only thing I can think of is "J'adore!" (Hope that's right).
I know you have to be so excited to actually be visiting a dream location.
I can't believe you found those great Paris plates in two separate locations. That kind of thing never happens to me.
Great job on a great table.
i love this tablescape! and that little eiffel tower is just what i have been looking for for my travel mantle scape. we have one, but it's been turned into an ornament, so it's stored away with the xmas stuff. i love the way you used the books, too!

Now that is one place that I have been. Hubby and I went several years ago. I can still see the view in my minds eye from the Eiffel tower. Beautiful! Thank you for taking me back again. :)
What a great job you did on this table!!! I love the color combination! I have those same Paris plates. I think my sister bought them at Pier 1 several years ago. I also have little bowls that match. The colors really make them stand out! So your daughter got to sing at Notre Dame??? What a wonderful experience!!! I know you are just ready and eager to make that trip yourself. What a great gift!!! We all look forward to seeing an authentic rendition of Parisian living upon your return! Better yet, just take us with you! :-)
Very pretty table! My grandson just returned from a trip to Paris. He loved it. He went as part of his Music History class at Lee University. He had lots of great photos.
Hope you have a fabulous trip.
You'll probably be fluent in French by the time you visit next year. This is one of my favorite tablescapes you created.
I'm excited that you will get to go to Paris! Half the fun is in the planning. What a lovely gift from your daughter. Your table is the perfect destination!

How nice of your daughter, Ashleigh, to give you a trip to Paris! I also have a daughter, Ashleigh - spelled the very same way!

What a wonderfully thoughtful daughter. Is she going with you? That would be fun.
October fo 2010 Bob and I were in Paris. He fell, hit his head and spent several days in the hospital. My daughter and I are saving now to go back.
Enjoy yourself, it will be everything you are expecting.
