Finally Fall

I have finally added some Fall decor to the cubbies!
I wanted to add some of the wonderful warm colors of Fall to the cubbies, but also trying to keep it simpler then I've done in previous years!
I love this little vignette on the shelf
I recently found this great glass jar at the thrift shop for .50
I love the ground glass stopper...I decided to fill it with some Pinecones and acorns
I added a print I picked up in Montreal several years ago
This shelf isn't complete, but I like where it's headed....the green owl is new

I found these brown glass bottles last year at the thrift shop and added some handmade pumpkins from my friend Z @ Old Grey Mare
A book to read with Tiger
My faux flower arrangement and a orange pottery piece
make a sweet vignette on the cedar chest
A beautiful apothecary jar filled with acrylic pumpkins and acorns!

I'm joining these parties
(even if I am a little late for a few of them)

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

A Few Thrifty Finds

The last time I dropped off items at the thrift shop I, of course, looked around and found a few things to bring home!
A very eclectic group but fun!
This Ironstone pitcher/creamer is so pretty!
It's "Petite Flora" made in Japan and sold at Sears in the '70's
I love the soft colors and it looks great next to my house plants!
I also found this lamp....it's a project
I like the shape and the height the price ($1)
It has been painted and while I like the color it doesn't go with my room so I'll repaint it
see....a project!
And I could not resist this cute pillow!
It isn't perfect colors for my living room but it was only 25 cents so it came home with me!

I'm working on taking more items to the thrift shop as I downsize my dishes and other collections.  I'll share more about that soon!

Krispy Kreme

Have you ever had a Krispy Kreme doughnut?
They are yummy!
Have you ever been to a Krispy Kreme store?
I have!!
Back before Christmas I had dinner with Sara, Blake and Tiger.  After dinner Blake loaded us in the car and said we were going for a treat!
Hot Krispy Kreme doughnuts!
When the light is on that says HOT they are making doughnuts!
You can follow along as 'your' doughnut is made
From the fryer, flipped once
Through the waterfall of icing
To the box of doughnuts we bought!
The plain iced one's were all hot off the conveyor belt!
Tiger picked a chocolate iced doughnut and we all had milk
Only Tiger got the hat!
and a chocolate mustache!

It was so much fun to watch them 'make the doughnuts'.  Besides the glazed doughnuts they have many other kinds (as you saw in our dozen) all good!!
It was so much fun and a real treat!

So if you see a Krispy Kreme and the HOT light is on,
stop on in for a melt in your mouth delight!
(no one paid me for this post, all opinions are my own)
photos are from my cell phone but you can see the fun we had!

Back To Regular Life!

Thank you for all the wonderful comments about my trip to Paris.  I'm home and rested and ready to get back to regular life!
I've been spending lots of great time with Tiger and enjoying it so much.  His parents have been planning to buy him a new bed to give him more play space in his room.  I've been saving my change for a long time and decided to use it to help get Tiger a new bed!
This bed from IKEA is a perfect solution and it was on sale!
It isn't very high, but it gives him a perfect play place!
Tiger loves it of course!
I had an IKEA Malm dresser that looks great and gives Tiger clothes storage!
Mom and Dad also got him a new bookcase
from IKEA
He loves his room!

I have enjoyed many of the IKEA pieces I've bought over the years.
This TV stand is one I've had for several years
I wanted to get a new entertainment center with bookcases and more storage but found the cost too much for my small budget.  While looking at the IKEA catalog I found that I could add BILLY bookcases in the same finish as my TV stand and make a wall unit.  At $80 each that was affordable so I had Sara & Blake pick them up for me
to replace these thrift shop bookcases I had been using in the living room.
(Charlie checking out the new shelves)
My wonderful son-in-law Blake put them together for me!
They were taller then I expected but I am so happy!
Just add the shelves where I want them and fill!
I have a lot more 'tweaking' to do but I think I'm really going to enjoy these shelves.
I will need something over the TV to balance out the tall bookcases...ideas?

**Ideas so far:  a board connecting the bookcases, I think this would be hard to match the wood but a good idea.  A large clock and I do like that idea but they seem expensive.  My idea is to have one of my Eiffel Tower photos that is very architectural made into a canvas and hang that....keep the ideas coming!**

Spring Flowers

Spring flowers are everywhere!
From the soft pink of the Bradford Pear tree
To the amazing fushia of Azaleas!

Watching the Dogwoods go from this
To this....

God shows us the multitude of his blessings!

My daughter Ashleigh is home safely!
She will be resting and working from home for a few days as she gets her strength back.
I thank you for your concern, well wishes and prayers.
It means so much to both of us!

My thoughts and prayers are with all those in Boston who were affected by today's bomb blasts!

I want to share this from one of my Hero's
We need to always remember the good in the world!

Update On Mr Toes

It has been a really rough few days!
If you missed my last post, I shared that our sweet cat Mr. Toes was shot with a pellet gun by someone.  We thought he was doing okay and didn't have any internal injuries.  Monday he went back to the Vet and they said he was running a fever.  They kept him and gave him iv fluids and pain meds.  Today they were able to give him an ultrasound and thought there was some damage so called us and discussed surgery.  We agreed and they went in.  They found the pellet had pierced the small intestine in two places, had bruised his stomach and he had peritonitis.  They removed the damaged intestine and cleaned out the infection.  He will be in the clinic for several more days while they give him antibiotics and continue to monitor his condition.
Mr Toes is such a sweet cat and has a wonderful fun personality.
We are praying for the best!
He is not out of the woods yet, but he is young and strong and we believe he has a strong will to survive!  After all he made it home after being shot.
So Mr ALC, Charlie Kitty and myself all thank you for your prayers and good healing thoughts.
It's amazing how much we love our furry babies!
Our home feels different without him here.

I'll try to get back to my regular blogging soon, my head and heart have not been up to it.  Those who I'm mailing things to, I promise I'll get them out soon.

And to make us all smile....here are some photos of a different kind of 'cat'
Tiger has started Toddler Gymnastics
Checking out the musical choices
Playing Drums...has kept Tiger a busy boy!
I hope to visit him this weekend!

Wishing You JOY,
Linda
