Baby Boomer Barbie's

When Barbie made her debut in 1959 I was a little girl of 9 and I wanted a Barbie!  I got one and the rest is history!  I had clothes, a house and Ken!  My original Barbie dolls and clothes now belong to my daughter. So when my friend and crazy party giver Joyce invited us to come to a party and dress as our favorite Barbie....I was in!
Joyce is Hippie/Woodstock Barbie
And did it so well!
The whole house was decorated Barbie
I could only dream about having these fabulous dolls!
Love this book and the photos
This was in the kitchen and wanted to sit right down and play this game...again!
Ken or Poindexter?
The Barbie's!
Sandie as Breast Cancer Survivor Barbie, Rose as Hot Flash Barbie, Joyce as Hippie Barbie, Sue as the 'original' Barbie and Cheri as 1950's Barbie
ME?? I came as
Paris Barbie of course
(that is my little dog Fifi peeking out of my bag)
Barbie's signature PINK, donned the table
We had goodie bags and a place card photo
I was Nascar Barbie for a moment there!
Lunch was BBQ Sandwiches, coleslaw, baked beans and sweet tea or pink lemonade!
Barbie's everywhere!
original Barbie
Barbie (Sue) when she is 64
Not bad at all!
We are a bit rowdy when we all get together
But gosh we have fun!
Barbie's Dream House!
Barbie saying 'Yes to the Dress'
(it was yummy)

So what's next Ladies?
How about a road trip to Biltimore Estate to see the Downton Abbey clothing exhibit in March!
Fifi and I will be there with Pink on!

If you love Pink be sure to head over to
where I am guest posting on Think Pink Monday and sharing my pink pottery collection.

I had a blast and ladies I thank you!

How fun Linda! You make a beautiful Paris Barbie! I loved Barbies and so did my sister. My daughter loved them too. We still have several brand new in their boxes that we collected when she was growing up. Nascar Barbie is one of them...:) Most of them were Ballerinas that we collected. Nothing like Barbie dolls. Thanks for sharing this fun post...:)

Hugs, Vicky

You ladies seem to have a lot of fun. There really wasn't a hippie Barbie, was there? I mean, I don't really remember that stuff. But of course you would be a Paris Barbie!

What a fun party! You ladies all look so festive and retro, love your Paris Barbie look. I had that Barbie game and seeing the picture of the board on the table brought back so many memories. Ken was the cool guy, no one wanted to end up with Poindexter.

Hi Linda,
What a great idea for a party! You all look adorable! We must be about the same age because I got my first Barbie and age 9 or 10 and I still remember the day perfectly. I was so excited! My sister, Nancy, had Barbie in the black striped bathing suit and the one in the black evening gown with boa. I wish I had saved mine. Thanks for a fun post that brought back happy memories. And p.s. - you looked adorable as "Paris Barbie"! Cheryl @ 22 Applegate Lane

Linda, that was a really cool party! I wish my girlfriends would like that....I only have one that kinda loves vintage...There's always a thrifty one in the binch and guess what that is me!

I sold most of my Barbie stuff when I lost my job and will take the rest to a thrift shortly.

Hugs to you and Fifi and Tiger and Charlie lol

I would have brought my TV Chef Barbie to the party. What a wonderful time, madam, XOXO

Oh, what fun! I really enjoyed your post, and your friend went all out to carry out the Barbie theme! I still have my original Barbie from MY ninth birthday AND I have my Barbie dreamhouse -- the cardboard one that folds into a large suitcase. I have to thank my mom for holding onto that all these years!

Laurie Ritchey said...

How fun that must have been, and how cute you look! All of the decor is just perfection. I can't believe she even has the house! The original Barbie she has is just like mine (although I didn't take very good care of mine, and I know I have that swimsuit somewhere, but I haven't seen it in years.) I have to go back and look at all of this fun again.

This is absolutely awesome! Barbies were my absolute favorite thing to play with when I was growing up. Me and my best friend across the street would spend literally all day every Saturday playing Barbies. Thanks for the memories!

I wanted a Barbie doll so bad when I was about ten years old that I would have begged for one. After eons of pouting I did finally get one. This looks like a really fun party, good friends, great costumes.
