Today's Favorite Thing
Is this framed cross stitch piece
Why is this so special?
Because I made this back in the 70's for my parents
I didn't date it or put my initials on it and I wish I had but I didn't think of it
This was one of my first attempts at cross stitch
It took many hours while taking care of babies and a home but I kept at it!
It is special to me and it has hung in my parents home since I made it
with so much love
One of these days it will come back to me
but maybe it will go live with one of my girls!

That's precious beyond words, Linda. My parents have a framed needlepoint I made for them on their wall - gosh, it has to be 30+ years ago!

That's a lovely cross-stitch -- I'm sure your parents treasure it! I made a crewel embroidery stitchery for my mother and it hung in the living room until her death when my father gave it back to me. I have it still-- I'll have to write about it on A Favorite Thing!

You can always write a little message on the back telling the story of your sampler for future generations. How nice that it's been hanging in your mother's home all these years.

This is a beautiful favorite thing. I made some of these too back in the 70s and my mom has them in storage for me. I need to get them and enjoy them. Thanks for reminding me.
I have always been drawn to samplers. Your's is especially nice, because of your family story to go with it. They must treasure it.

It's lovely!! You can always turn it over and if it doesn't have cardboard on the back- put in a cardboard backing and sign it now and put on it the year you made it. Hope your Mom is improving!! She's very blessed to have you there to help out!

O, I love your cross stitched piece. I loved to cross stitch years ago and made a cute lady and gent....they are in a closet and I need to get them out and hang them up.

Linda, this is beautiful and very special. I'm a stitcher, and I know how much time and effort goes into making a piece like this. You should write the information on the back of the frame - your name, who you stitched it for, date, place. At least maybe the information will stay with the piece that way.
