A Little Thrifting!

I have done a little thrift shopping while here in Texas.  I have been trying not to buy much as I am flying home and not in my car!
Last week I found these...
Metlox pottery in the 'Fruit Basket' pattern
The sugar bowl and creamer were $2.99
The lid detail is so cute!

 I also found....
The matching Salt & Pepper for $1.50

I looked for plates or any other pieces of this pattern but found none~!
Still these will go with so many colors and will be seen in a tablescape for sure!

If you are a follower of A La Carte you know I love my Blue Birds of Happiness
I found this one for 99cents!

Now for the happy news!
At Mom's check-up on Wed her Dr said she was doing great and can resume all her activities.  This means I can go home!
I will miss Mom so much but I need to get home and start looking for a place for her to move closer!
Texas is now just too far away!
Here we are last Saturday on my Birthday!
She looks great don't you agree?

So looks like I will be flying home Monday and hopefully Mom will be moving closer in the next 6-12 months!  Thank you again for all your prayers and well wishes!

Do You Smash??

A week ago I would not have known what you were talking about...Smash?  Now I do thanks to my good friend Diane at Lavender Dreams and this post!
I found a 50% off coupon for Michael's and drove over and bought a Smash Journal!
They come in different colors and designs....I choose "Doodle" because I liked the inside graphics.

Now you could make your own but I decided to buy one and see if I liked it!  It comes with a pen/glue stick...pretty cool!
I haven't done any pages yet, but this is the kind of things you would put in one.  These are from my trip to Vegas and the Bellagio.  Since this is a journal you can also write your thoughts or feelings about events.  It reminds me of my old High School scrapbook where I kept ticket stubs, corsages, cards, etc!
I'm also going to add scrap booking stickers to some of the pages!

Now for the fun part!  The great gals at Art @ Home and My So Called Chaos are hosting a
Summer Smashing Link Party

We will journal all summer and then share our books in September!  Sounds like a lot of fun to me!!  More details are available Here
Of course you don't have to buy a Smash Journal you can make your own and still join in all the fun!

My Favorite Month Is June!

OK, so you have probably figured out that if June is my favorite month its because...yes yes...It's my birthday month!
In fact Yesterday was my birthday!
I turned 62 and I'm here to tell you it wasn't too painful at all!  It's been years since I've spent my birthday with my Mom and so that was extra special.
Lovely calls from family, emails, Facebook wishes and some adorable ECards!

Even Charlie got in the act!
I miss my Mommy!
was the caption to this photo that Mr ALC sent me!!  I love it!!

A fun dinner out with some of my Texas family!
I had steak and grilled shrimp!  It was so good and I was stuffed but managed to top it off with cheesecake!
I miss my Georgia family and friends but will hopefully be home soon!
I've enjoyed the flowers in my Mom's yard and that  is part of my love of the month of June also!

I'm joining Seasonal Sundays with

I hope you will check out both of these fun parties!

A Few Cute Things!

I stopped by the local Goodwill one day and found two cute things that just 'had' to come home with me!

This cute little restaurant creamer was only .49 and will join my collection at home!

This milk glass vase has the prettiest design on it and at $1.99 I knew it was a keeper!

Look at this cute goofy face!  Love this boy and miss him so much~

A Little Sadness!

Thank you all for your well wishes for my Mom.
She is doing great and healing well.  Still tires easily but each day she gets stronger.  She goes back to the Doctor on June 13th and if she is released to drive I will fly home the next week.  I'll begin making plans to move her closer to me!

On top of everything Mom has been going through
her sweet dog Buddy died last Friday
Buddy was 13 years old and not in the best of health.  In fact we took him to the Vet on Thur to see how he was doing and judge his condition.
The Vet said he had a pretty bad heart mummer and a gum infection and it was getting 'time'.  Mom wasn't ready right then so we decided to get him an antibiotic shot, some pills for his cough and begin to say our goodbyes.
God had other plans~~
Late Friday night after we had gone to bed, we heard Buddy cry and when we got to him I could tell something serious had happened and he was dying.  I held his head and stroked his side until he took his last breathe...letting him know we loved him and what a good dog and great companion he had been.  This was my first time helping a furry friend over the Rainbow Bridge.
We like to think that Buddy is up there with my Dad sitting in his lap as he did for so many years before my Dad passed away!  I know they are happy to be together again.  Mom and I are sad but know that he had a good life.  I am so thankful I was here to help Buddy and my Mom through this really hard time.
We still have Mom's cat Sam and he has been a real comfort to her!

So one last picture and this I hope will cheer you up!  It's of Tiger of course.  His Grandma misses him so much!
The most beautiful baby ever!

Toujours,
Linda
