B is for Books

This week we are studying the letter B over at Miss Jenny's

I love books and I'm a big fiction reader.
However I do have a collection of reference books that help me find and enjoy vintage items.
I have a lot of books on Pottery and Glassware
Most have been ordered from Amazon from their used books.  Reference books are usually pretty expensive but finding them used is a great way to acquire several.  Since I don't care about 'values' that might be outdated, these used books really work for me.

My latest purchases averaged about $5 each including postage...great deal!
I have collected several Shawnee miniture pottery pieces and this book has a great section on them.  I love to take my time and just look at the photos.  Helps me find pottery 'in the wild' so to speak!

Recently I've seen my McCoy pottery collection expand and so purchased these two books to help me find and train my eye for more pieces.

Don't be afraid to purchase used books!

B is also for Birthday
I have a large milestone birthday coming in about two weeks.  Can you guess my upcoming age?
I am a June baby!

B is also for Baby and Brother
The Joy on their faces is priceless!

Thanks Jenny for hosting another round of Alphabe Fun!

I have reference books too, but mine are about vintage dolls! I have too many cats and all my breakable collectibles are in the few safe places that I have, so I don't buy anymore. I have some Stangl pottery. Have you ever heard of it? It was made in NJ and as a child my mother liked to go to their outlet store.

Did you know that your link on Jenny's blog goes to last week's A post? I found your B post and most people probably will, but I thought I'd let you know.

I buy used books all the time! Books are so expensive brand-new. I buy a lot of used ones through, or else I find books through library book sales and some at Goodwill. That photo of Tiger and his baby sister is just too darn precious. I love how they're looking at each other with pure delight. And can't believe the baby is smiling already!

Boy, baby, books and birthday. I like your collection of working books that are useful for you. I was in Goodwill today, didn't find any books but found a gorgeous tall cut glass vase. What milestone birthday is this for you? I had a big one in April.

Linda, I often buy used books too. They can be a great deal.
Your photo of the grands is priceless. Yes, the joy on their faces. I predict that that photo is going to be a favorite one many, many years from now.

Looks like we share a birth month! I rely on the library for my reading habit but do need to acquire some reference books like yours -- and definitely used all the way!! I haven't bought a new book in many years -- thank goodness for the nearby Half Price Books!

Your grandkidlits are adorable!!

I ♥♥♥ that photo of Tiger and Rosemary!
Books...I would be totally lost without books. It amazes me when I come upon someone that doesn't read. I buy many of my books at thrift stores or Alibris.
Have a great weekend.

Tiger and Rosemary are precious little people! I so love how they seem to click for the camera. I love my books and will never give them up. I order many of them at amazon too. Are you having that 6-5 birthday? Goodness your birthday figurine is precious too. Always my pleasure to be here Linda. I am always grateful for the friendship I found through Miz Mollye. Take care and enjoy a beautiful day!

What a sweet picture of Tiger and Rosemary, love their smiles. I have quite a collection of old reference books too. Even though the prices are way off, they're great to use for identification.

Once upon a time I wanted to own a used book store. I still think it would be fun, as long as I don't have to be the one waiting on people. :-) Happy Birthday to you. 29 years old, right?

I knew you had to be a book person.

And, B is for new baby in your life.

I have those 3 books! I don't care if they are older as I use them for reference not price guides. Your grandkids are adorable!!!

Happy Birthday. Maybe you can do what my mom does. Switch the digits of your age around. She isn't 82, she's 28!! But I don't do that as I don't want to be 6!

Hugs, Dianne

I never thought about hunting for used reference books on Amazon. Thanks for the tip. B is for those two beauties - Tiger and Rosemary. Wonderful photo of them together.

I love books so much too...real books, that I can touch, thumb through, smell and keep ! The internet is easy for references but it is so much more rewarding to find things in the original hard copy !!! ;)

I love used books, too.

There seems to be a bounty of them available at library and yard sales anymore.

Those two Grandlittles are absolutely beautiful.

And you, my dear, must be turning 50!

Thanks for sharing such a bounty of lovely photos on your link to the letter B.
