Tiger Turns Four!

I can't believe that my sweet Grandson is four!
The time has flown by!
This year Tiger is celebrating in several ways.
He went to a carnival and had a great time.  After some rides he played some games and won this wonderful horn!
On Monday he had a day off from school and he and his Dad went on a hike

Then had lunch at a Drug Store counter
and a nice cold shake
(he is all about thumbs up in photos these days)
Tuesday the 7th was his actual Birthday and he had a good day at school with his friends.
Then home for some presents!
He got trucks for his sandbox from Mom & Dad
Leggo's from Grandma
A new bike from his Aunt Ashleigh
and lots of cards and $$ from family
He and Daddy put together the race car Leggos right away.
Dinner and then the important part...CAKE!
We sang Happy Birthday
He blew out the candles!
He was clapping his hands so they are blurry!
He could not sit still.  It was a wonderful day.  If Sara hasn't had the baby we will have a small party Sat afternoon with some of his friends.   I think Tiger has the 'celebrate as many days as you can' birthday plan figured out, just like his Grandma!

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Art Project Week 12 & 13

March's Art Project theme was
Making Your Mark (doodles & mark making)
Week 12
Art Challenge: As a Focal Point
Journal Prompt: Coming Into Focus

One of the things I love about this art project is learning new techniques...I've seen many use a Gelli Plate to make interesting backgrounds on their pages.  I got a small Gelli Plate and added some acyrlics in spring colors, rolled it with a brayer to mix the colors.
Then I applied it to the page
I like the colors and textures it adds to a page
I added my 'marks' using a pencil eraser to make dots all over the page.  I added three circles and wrote the prompt: Focus in them
It seemed too Pink for me so I added some blue acrylics using the Gelli plate again.  I think it got a little muddy, but I finally just called it done.

Week 13
Art Challenge:  Make a Custom Element
Journal Challenge: Ride the energy of your own unique spirit

I covered the page with torn pieces from a Paris guidebook.
I created a custom element using a makeup sponge.  I cut it into a triangle shape and used it as a border on the page
I stamped the quote on newspaper edges and cut them out...I had already stamped the page with a dragonfly stamp which is a spirit element in my life
I used my original element to create a flower on the page
A few doodles with black ink and this page is complete.  It is one of my favorites.

Thanks for joining me on this art journey!

Today is Tiger's Birthday and I'm going to party with him later today!  I'll share some pics tomorrow!  I can't believe my Grandson is now 4!
No new baby yet, but any day now!

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Happy Easter!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!
I had the family over for dinner and it was so nice to all be together for the holiday.
I normally use pastels for Easter, but this year I was drawn to these vintage dishes.  Poppy Trail Strawberry by Metlox.
Tiger's place setting included a cat placemat and a bunny napkin ring.
The adults had just a plan placemat but we did have gingham napkins with bird napkin rings.
A simple center piece with a couple of bunnies on a strawberry platter.
A traditional dinner of baked ham, mac'n'cheese, steamed asparagus, baby peas, rolls and a nice berry pie for dessert.  It was good even if I did cook most of it myself!
After dinner Tiger hunted some Easter eggs in my front yard.
The sun was bright and Tiger was moving so fast I didn't get any good photos.  Oh well, he had fun!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Easter.  We are still on baby watch so if I'm a bit absent from the blog that is why.  I'm taking dinner to Sara twice a week and helping with Tiger all I can so she can rest.  Baby girl will be here soon and I'll have photos galore of her!

To leave you with a little Easter collection that came about by accident.
These bunny pieces are made by Avon and I kept finding pieces at the thrift shop until, a collection!

Tuesday is Tiger's 4th Birthday, where did the year go!

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Expresso Cups

The first year I attended the World's Longest Yard Sale and before I was a blogger I 'started' a collection with one buy.
Expresso or small coffee cups
Here are two of the cups that started the collection
along with these two.  All four seem to be from cafe's in Brazil.  I was going to buy one but the seller said take them all for the price of one...sold!
Since then I've added a few more to the collection.  Both of these cups are from Starbuck.
(the bunnies are from my daughter's collection)
The back cup is a New Orleans souvenir cup and the front cup is from Antoine's Restaurant in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
I am not the one who 'took' this from the restaurant but gladly bought it at a thrift shop.
I've eaten at this amazing restaurant once and a small butter plate might have found it's way into my purse after a few glasses of wine.  I never do that sort of thing now!
Included in this collection are a few small coffee cups from airlines...also found at thrift shops
These are also Airline coffee cups
National Airlines and Pan Am
A restaurant ware cup and a cute little modern expresso cup, both thrift shop finds
These are two fun cups, small in size so they joined the collection!

Hope you enjoyed my little collection and no,
I don't drink expresso!

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

A Little Easter Bunny Fun!

At Easter I like to display my Bunny collection
along with some fun Egg Cups!
Some vintage some new, almost all thrifty finds.
I have a eclectic collection for sure!
I've had these Peter Rabbit books in English and French since I was 16!
I got this bunny egg holder at World Market a few years ago.
My faux eggs fill it nicely.
A few of the fun Easter egg cups I've collected!
One more bunny in a small vignette!
These two egg cups are my newest finds!
The white one is unmarked but has a pretty border of flowers and a raised flower design on the white part, I paid .99 for it.  The turquoise egg cup is a Harlequin egg cup from the Homer Laughlin company.  Read more about that company HERE.
I found this egg cup at Goodwill and it was a surprising .77,  Score on both of these!
I hope you enjoyed my funny bunnies!
I'll be sharing my Easter tablescape next week!

Wishing you JOY,

Linda
