Dinner On A Tray

Do you ever have one of those days when you just want Dinner (on a tray) and a movie!
I used this tray I bought at IKEA many years ago
I like it's large size and low price
I used a St. Patrick's Day placemat I bought on clearance
(4 mats for $2)
This wonderful yellow plate with shamrocks was found at a church rummage sale (3 plates for .75)
and set the colors for the plate stack
A large pale yellow fiesta plate as a charger, then a wonderful green Harlequin plate, topped by the shamrock plate
 (all plates were thirfted)
I used this white napkin with a yellow flower
(4 for $1 at a yard sale)

These bright green handled flatware
were found at a GW for .20 ea
These two glasses were also thrift store finds
The green swirl boopie was .75 and the Irish Coffee glass was .59
All this fits on the tray so nicely!
These little salt & pepper shakers were gifted to me and are etched with a sweet Hummingbird
I added a tea light for ambiance
I used a battery tea light however for safety's sake
It gives some nice candle light!
Even on a tray you can set a sweet placesetting
A very pretty, seasonal and thrifty trayscape!

LAST WEEK'S THRIFTY FINDS

Last week I met one of my Atlanta blogging buddies for lunch and some thrifting.  We had a great time.  Sandie who many of you know as Chatty Crone is such a fun lady.   Sandie has just gotten the thrifting bug but is like so many of us and has lots of stuff and so is careful what she buys.  She spotted my favorite find first and I offered it to her but she said no you get them!  Ok so are you ready!!
Green Boopie Swirl Glasses!
Oh yes in all their glorious beauty sitting on a shelf in the Goodwill
Three sizes!  Two large water glasses, Two medium juice glasses and Four sherbets!  Only $1.97 each!  Oh me oh my!
See the swirl on the stem and the boopie bottoms
I am so in love with theses gorgeous glasses
Thanks Sandie for spying these beauties!

On another thrifting excursion I found some new Orphan Salt and Pepper shakers for my collection...they ranged in price from 25 cents to 99 cents each
These are just fun and someone needed to give them a home
I especially like the frog!

I was passing a yard sale and my car just turned in...imagine that!
Not much to my taste at this one but I did find this for $1
This candle holder was in my fall colors
I think it will look cute with tea lights in it
This plate was found at a thrift
For 69 cents and is perfect with this candle holder on my table
A new fall decoration

I'm joining in with Debbiedoo's

IS IS BERWICK, BOOPIE OR CANDLEWICK?

Lately due to the bad economy (mine) and the large inventory of valuable vintage items already in my home..ahem, I have been thrifting with more shall we say, discretion! However upon spying these items, well no hesitation on my part, into the cart they went.

Five for $2.92
Three for $2.12
These are 4 1/2" high and old about 5 oz
These are 3 3/4" high and old 4 ozs
So why are they special?
They are Boopie glasses!
Anchor Hocking was started in 1937 and these glasses were produced from 1941 until early 1960's and I have seen it said that it was produced into the 70's.  This design has been hard to find facts about, but I am still hoping to learn more and when I do I will bring you the information.
One reason is the design has been called Berwick, Burple, Boopie and Inspiration (although this last pattern has a swirled bottom it seems)  It has also been confused with Candlewick!
What is the difference between Boopie and Candlewick?
Boopie has the glass balls that seem to be touching each other
Candlewick they are sperated
This is Boopie
This is Candlewick
The Candlewick was made by the Imperial Glass Company
and is much more delicate looking
From the largest size I have
Water glasses (2) to the smallest the sherbet (1)
I must say I love my Boopie Glass!
It is not very expensive and I have read it came in three colors in addition to the clear.  Amber, Green and Ruby!

I am joining in two parties today!

Linda at Coastal Charm
and Troy at I Refuse to Recede

I will be looking for more Boopie Glass when I go
on the World's Longest Yard Sale in August

Always,
Linda
