In The Groove!

I am trying to be back in the groove and join in some of my favorite parties

I love this very small tin of Charles Chips I purchased from my friend Sherry.  It's a sampler tin from this famous snack company.

I found this adorable Morton Pottery cactus planter
(the cactus would be the tail....cute)
I only paid $1 for this guy!

Do you remember all the glass apple dishes I found on my road trip a few months ago?  Well I found these two small bowls, 60 cents each, and had to add them to my dish closet.  Oh yes, look for an Apple table in the fall!

Lastly I found these two black Fiesta plates at the thrift shop.  Pretty scratched up, but for 35 cents each they will be a great addition to my tablescaping!

I hope you will go by and check out these great blogs and their fun parties

A Few Cute Things!

I stopped by the local Goodwill one day and found two cute things that just 'had' to come home with me!

This cute little restaurant creamer was only .49 and will join my collection at home!

This milk glass vase has the prettiest design on it and at $1.99 I knew it was a keeper!

Look at this cute goofy face!  Love this boy and miss him so much~

Vintage Goodies

On my way to Texas last month, I stopped by my blogging friend Sherry's and shopped at her booth
Back 2 Vintage in Laurel, MS
I also was able to shop her inventory at home!
Here are some of the awesome items I purchased!
I was really excited when I saw these in Sherry's stash.  I have several plates and bowls in this patter and to add the S&P and the cream and sugar bowl was a big score for me!  This is Poppy Metlox and the pattern is Woodland Gold...go here to see it used in a tablescape for Thanksgiving 2010!
This little piggy creamer came home with me
Yes I have a thing for creamers!
These tiny saucers (no cups) were just too cute to pass up and I think they will make perfect butter pats!
I really liked this bowl and drinking glass!
The orange edge caught my eye and the neat design...Sherry said it is called Wagon Wheel.  It will be used in a trayscape for sure!
This sugar and creamer are the most lovely shade of blue!  I could not resist.  Neither Sherry or I can find any information about them but hopefully one of you knows the maker and pattern??

Least you think that I only took from Sherry, I brought her a car load of Pyrex and other assorted dishes from my stash.  She was excited to get items she has trouble finding in her area and are popular in her booth!
It was a win~win for both of us!

A Few Vintage Things!

I found a couple of great vintage goodies this past week!

This orphan Pepper shaker is so cute!  I found it at a thrift shop on 1/2 price day so it was .27
These are large stamps with numbers and letters
I don't know what I'm going to do with them but I think they look cool...$1.21 each...did I pay too much?
May favorite find this week was this lovely creamer.  Marked Edwin Knowles and the patterin is Gloria.  I love it and for $1.80 it joined my collection.

Vintage Bargains

I have two awesome vintage and thrifty things to share with you
Both are also additions to my collections
A blue fridgie!  I'm not sure what set this came from but when I saw it at Goodwill and it was priced reasonably AND it was Senior Day, I had to have it!  Cost:  $1.... Score!

This next find was the only thing found on this quick visit to Value Village last week
This hammered aluminum bread tray is in wonderful condition
This Rodney Kent piece marked 404 has his well known Tulip design on it
and applied ribbon and flower handles
I saw this listed on line for $25
I paid $3

Candy Anyone?

I love glass and have been drawn to it since I was young.  I love the wonderful vintage candy dishes I've been finding in the thrifts. Recently I found a new one in Green!
When I found this piece it was soooooo dirty!
Years of grime had accumulated in the raised design.
I soaked in soapy water and scrubbed it with a toothbrush to remove all the dirt!
Look at that shine!
This is made by Imperial Glass and is the Swirl and Lace Design and is a lovely Emerald color. I paid $3 for it and I am thrilled!

I Love Vintage

Can you believe it's March already?  My Azaleas are starting to bloom and if there is sunshine tomorrow I'll take some photos!

I have been pretty lucky lately and have found some great vintage items at the thrifts
I love this black depression glass creamer
for only 59 cents!!
I found this great Pyrex storage container for $1
I'm thinking of storing my growing collection of cute cupcake papers in it!
I think this is a whisk and I paid $1.50 for it
I need to gather up my small collection of vintage kitchen utensils and display them
I didn't need them but could not resist these four amber dessert dishes bought for a total of $1.50 for all four!

Amazing Tablecloth

I recently stopped in a thrift store that helps support abandoned dogs and cats
I've purchased a few items here before but its always a bit of hit and miss
This time was a hit
Someone put some amazing time into making this a very special tablecloth.  Look at this center section.  Not only does it have this lovely embroidery but also these crocheted inserts
*updated to say that several readers think this is tatting and not crochet....thank you ladies!
Close up of one of the corners
The tablecloth is more of an ecru color
Amazing work!
The backside!
I am going to list this in my Etsy shop and hope someone will give it a good home!
*updated: one of my wonderful blogging friends has offered this lovely tablecloth a good home!*

Decorating with Plates

I love plates!  Vintage plates are my weakness!  I will buy one of a kind at the thrifts if they 'speak' to me.  But what to do with these...a plate rack is perfect!  You can show plates by color, theme or whatever is pleasing to your eye!
In January I choose 4 plates of the same pattern
but for February I'm doing a month of Pink
So here is my plate rack now
I have chosen 4 plates with Pink in them
These top two are from a set of dishes by Vernon Ware called "Tickled Pink"
This is a restaurant ware plate from Syracuse USA
I have found a couple of other pieces in this pattern also

This restaurant ware plate is also made by Syracuse China.  I love the Pink on this plate!
