A Favorite Thrifty Thing

Several years ago I stopped into a small thrift shop.  Looking around I didn't see much but as I was leaving this was in the showcase.

This milk glass pitcher and four glasses in the lovely

 Harvest pattern by Indiana Glass.

I've seen this set in Antique Malls and at the Worlds Longest Yard Sale, but prices were always way out of my comfort zone.

The pitcher alone was minimum $25. 

 So I inquired about the price!

How about $20 for the set they said!

I am love this and it's one of my favorite finds ever!

Cream & Sugar Anyone?

I love creamers and have collected them for years

Do you know what happens when you collect creamers? you also seem to collect sugar bowls and even stranger for me sets of cream and sugars!

I filled the cubbies with my surprising collection of 

Vintage Cream and Sugars

Honestly I had no idea I had so many sets!

In all sorts of colors

and all sorts of shapes

and sizes

Some were gifts but most were thrifty finds

This little green set is my smallest and I use them all the time!

I have all kinds of cream and sugar sets

 I love them but some are going to be sold to make room for other things!

A Few Cute Things!

I stopped by the local Goodwill one day and found two cute things that just 'had' to come home with me!

This cute little restaurant creamer was only .49 and will join my collection at home!

This milk glass vase has the prettiest design on it and at $1.99 I knew it was a keeper!

Look at this cute goofy face!  Love this boy and miss him so much~

Mother's Day Lunch ~ Let's Dish

Our May themed challenge for Let's Dish is

Mother's Day

This year I decided to set a lunch table for four! 

The guests are my Mother (of course), my daughter Sara celebrating her 2nd Mother's Day, Myself and my other daughter Ashleigh.  This a virtual lunch as we won't all be together but wish we could!

These table is Vintage, Traditional and Modern!

This wonderful milk glass snack set in the vintage grapes and leaves pattern was my inspiration for this table.  I love milk glass and have collected it for several years....mostly from thrifts, yard and estate sales

The place mats, napkins and napkin rings are very modern.  Place mats & napkins were found at Garden Ridge on sale...love that blue color!

The flatware a wedding gift to my parents is traditional.  My Mom has passed it on to me now and I treasure it. 

The centerpiece is some faux flowers in a milk glass planter.  I love the touch of green this adds to the table.  I used only milk glass serving pieces to keep the table very simple in color scheme

The napkin rings are some I won in a lovely giveaway....so sweet!

These little salt & pepper shakers were only 50 cents!

The lovely crystal water glasses are from Mr ALC's family.  His Mother passed away many years ago before I met him.  I am honored to add some of her things to this table.

On the menu~salads, fruit and various breads

I will serve tea or coffee

**update since writing this post...late last night my Mom was admitted to the hospital with heart failure (they had to shock her heart I was told). They did emergency surgery and put in a pacemaker.  She is holding her own, but at 81 has some recovery ahead of her.  I would appreciate all  your prayers~~ I will be going to Houston**

Let's Dish ~ Easter

This table was inspired by these guys!

I found these rabbits at a thrift store a few years ago (.80 each) and fell in love with them.  I think they are perfect for a simple Easter table!

Lots of pink this year!

 I started with a dusty rose colored Fiesta plate, added a blue plate and then a cute pink polka dot salad plate.

A small milk glass bowl holds a pink plastic egg that will hold some Easter candy as a treat!

The napkins are the newest additions to my stash and were .25 ea at a thrift shop

I used my sweet little rabbit napkin rings

also .25 cents each bought at yard sales

The plate stack picks up the colors of the napkins

Centered on a pale pink place mat with white flat ware this place setting is ready for the food!

I love these wine flutes....I have found two at different thrift shops for under $1 each

When something is this pretty I will sometimes buy it when I only see one and this time I am so glad I did as I found a 2nd flute!

** Edited to add that the flutes are from Pierrier-Jouet Fleur de Champagne and come in special sets with their champagne....Thanks to Marlis for the information** 

The hot pink placemat was .99 at Bed, Bath & Beyond...I added some faux flowers to a milkglass vase and voila....a center piece!

We will be having Ham, cheesy potatoes and green beans on Sunday.  I want something yummy for dessert but haven't decided what yet!

What Came First??

The Chicken or the Egg?

In this case....the chicken

I found this adorable set of dessert plates at the thrift shop and paid $3.50 for them on 1/2 price day.  New with tags on they inspired this tablescape

A table for two!

The place setting started with a white place mat that were $1 each from Dollar Tree a few years ago

I used a blue Fiesta plate, milk glass plate with a cute out edge topped by the chick plate

Added an egg cup and faux egg for fun!

All these dishes are from my stash and were found at thrift shops or yard sales

I used white handled flatware and these pretty blue and white napkins bought on clearance from Old Time Pottery (I think)

The glass is old and has a sweet flower pattern on it.  These two glasses were found at a thrift for less then $1 each

I had trouble with a centerpiece as nothing I tried made me happy.  I settled on this Easter egg wreath with a candle in the center

These cute egg shaped chick Salt & Pepper shakers add to the 'theme' of this table

Sweet and Simple

After taking all these photos I did pick some flowers from the yard and think they add a nice touch of Spring!
