Friday turned out to be a very special day for me!  I got to meet a blogging buddy whose style and enthusiasm I admire.   I also had a dream come true and met my favorite author !!  AND even Better then just meeting them, we went junking together!  Be still my heart!  Here's my story!

If you are a follower of Sue at
then you know she is a serious junker.  She sells in a shop in Leesburg, VA and she loves to travel and junk when she isn't doing her 'Big Girl Job'.   Sue was on her way to Orlando for her Dad's birthday and decided to stop in Atlanta and go junking at the Scott's Antique Market.  This is a huge sale held the 2nd weekend of each month.  I have been several times and it is fun with lots of real Antiques but enough collectibles to make it interesting for me.
Here is Sue looking at some treasures!
We decided to meet Friday morning and OK, here is the
BIG SURPRISE.... Ready?  Oh I am so excited
The amazing and so talented and my FAVORITE author
came to junk with Sue!  They have been friends for a couple
of years and at first Sue didn't think MKA could make it but she did!   I was so excited.  Not long ago I was saying how I hoped
to meet her one day.  I love her books and blogged about her
Mary Kay was as nice as I expected her to be and lots of fun!
Sue brought us temporary tattoos and of course we
put them on first thing
Mary Kay in the turquoise top and Sue in black
Vintage....does it get much cuter?
We got lots of comments through out the day about them!
Mary Kay living in Atlanta knows many of the dealers including
Andrea is the cutest thing and so talented
She makes jewelry and had many wonderful collectibles
Some of which went home with us!

At another booth we met Lorene Schaefer
This set of theater seats was so eye catching with
her cute pillows!
A touch of Hollywood here!
More of her beautiful pillows

We shopped for a few hours and then had lunch and talked
about our love of junking, decorating, family and friends.
It was delightful and I'm an even bigger fan of both of
these amazing and talented ladies!
Mary Kay had to leave to head to a book signing
for her book The Fixer Upper just released in paperback
Sue had a 7 hour drive to Orlando
Me?  I got to come home and remember a very special day...
Here we are 'The Vintage Ladies'

Thank you ladies for a most memorable day!

Oh My lucky for you!!! I know you love Kathy's books and to actually spend the day with her well it doesn't get better then that....I actually invited her to the birthday tea thinking there was a slim chance she might come, with her being an Atlanta blogger and all, but I never heard from her...I was disapointed but realized how busy she is...Very happy to hear you finally got to meet her...Sue.

Hi Linda,
Wow, you are now an official celebrity yourself....rubbing elbows with Mary Kay Andrews, one of my favorite authors of all time.
She seems so down to earth and friendly. I know you had fun with your friends and had a lovely day.

Nice goodies offered at the show as well. Wish I could have been there.

One of my dreams is to go to Scotts so if I ever make it over there I'll let you know so WE can meet! Lulu Redstar has been a goddess and inspiration to me for years and I am soooo jealous you met her, so that's another reason to go. What a fun fun day for you!!!!!

I'm kind of a grammar freak. I ought to have been an English major!!

Anyhow, there needs to be a way to edit comments, instead of either deleting them and re-writing them or doing another one like I'm now doing.

My last paragraph should read "now I know" insted of "know I know." Just had to fix my mistake.

What an adventure! Few things can be as s satisfying as spending time with your favorite people, doing your favorite things.

Sounds like you had a great time. Did you pick up any new and exciting thrifting and bargain-hunting tips and techniques?

How totally cool! What a thrill for you meet a blogger buddy and your favorite author. I love the photos, and in fact, I think I'll go up to Scott's next month and see if I can afford one of those courtroom chairs from My Cousin Vinny, one of my all time favorites!
Thanks for your comments on The Red Sweater. Things are better! I'll be home from Miami tomorrow, and I hope to add some photos, so if you have time, check back for the visuals - if I can get them posted in some sort of fashion that makes sense with the post!
