Here we are in July!  I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.  I had a nice time with family and friends!

Update on my SIL Blake
He went to the Dr on Tue and they removed his cast and said he is healing well.  I will spare you that photo  :)
but here is his x-ray!
We can call him metal man!
They put him in an air cast so he will be able to get around much better now.  He and Sara went back to camp and are able to do some work there.  My sweet Tiger loves being outside and all the kids at camp.  On Sunday July 3rd Blake made this post...
My Great Grandma said she was ready to go last year. She stuck around to see her 94th birthday and the birth of two more great great grandsons. Her request to move on along was met this morning. I know she was happy and content with life and death. You will be missed Great Grandma! Such a neat and super woman for so many generations
Please keep Blake and his family in your prayers as they celebrate the life of this wonderful woman.
A few weeks ago Mr ALC and I stopped in this little thrift shop....they were having a half price day...Yippee!   I found this and put it in and out of my cart several times
It is an old jewelry box.  I don't need it
and could not decide if I should get it.
Would you?
The inside was in pretty good condition
It even has the 'vintage' smell
so???  well of course I got it
I decided I could use it to display some of my vintage jewelry.
It was marked $1.97 so at half price
Maybe I will find some more vintage items for it soon!
I'm joining these fun parties today
Rednesday at It's A Very Cherry World
Would You Buy It Wednesday
 with Stephanie at Junker Newbie
You have until July 10th to enter
and I've added this to the giveaway
It's funny and cute and I know you will enjoy it!
 Thanks for stopping by!

Sending prayers to Blake and family. It sounds as if Grandma had a full life and was very much loved. Glad to hear Blake is mending so well.

Would I have bought the box? I have been dealing with the "vintage smell" a lot lately. Things I've been reclaiming from a basement. Unless I had a use for it I would have passed, but the $1 price is tough to walk away from.
Does powdering it with baking soda, closing it up a few days, then vacuuming out help?

I hope it brings you vintage jewel finding mojo!

I know what it's like to hear one say " I'm ready". Although mom was at the cottage yesterday, she sure is struggling to get from A to B. Poor thing.
LOVE the jewelry case. Of course I would have gotten it. Aired it out and put some neat stuff in it. Now, I don't have any room for it here, but you do. And that's what's important right Linda??
Happy Summer.

For one dollar, I'd have bought it! Anything with cute storage potential is a good find, and its perfect for vintage jewelry.

Linda, I am sending prayers to all of you. As a hospice nurse, I know how hard it is for families to hear, "I'm ready." May she rest in peace.

Impressive x-ray! I'm sending good energy to your SIL as well.

Love your finds! I think I would have bought the box!

That is some xray! OMG! So sorry to hear about his great grandmother too. Your vintage jewelry box is really neat and looks big enough to use as a flatware holder too!

Glad to hear that Blake is healing well, my that's quite a pic!!! Sorry to hear about GG-Mom, that was a nice write-up, my thoughts are with you all.

Fun box, gotta chuckle at Mary's comment... the tablescaper in us always seems to sneak out:@)

Glad to hear that Blake is healing nicely, but sorry about his GG. The jewelry box would have been hard to pass up at $1.00...I've read that a lump of charcoal will absorb some of the "vintage smell." Love the GRITS book!!!

My heart is with Blake and his family. I'm just returning to blogging after about three weeks. Two of my elderly cousins passed within a week of each other and taking the time to reflect on their lives and honor them is so important.

Thank you for your kind condolences on my loss and now I send the same to Blake. I also wish him a speedy recovery, that x-ray made me feel some of his pain! Ouch!!!!

Sorry for your SIL's loss.
He will have to remember to tell guards about his metal before he goes thru those detectors. :D

Looks like a tramatic break, sending lots of well wishes for him today. I know it's hard to let go of grandmas but she was ready to leave--what a blessing. Love the jewelry box.

That was my first thought too. No more passing through the metal detector at the airport! It is hard for a family to hear that a member would like to move on, but it sounds like she was a blessing to her family. My sympathy to Blake.

I'd say you got yourself a bargain!

Blake must be an amazing guy. My prayers go out to his family but his great gram certainly enjoyed a beautiful life. Do you know Iggy over at Intense Guy? He lost his granddad. He was shy of his 104th (I believe) birthday when he passed away! what an amazing man! Hugs Anne
