Now that all the gifts have been unwrapped and the stockings emptied I can share with you some of the thrifty gifts I gave this Christmas
If you are family or a friend of mine, then you know I thrift and give gifts that I find there. No one complains (well so far none have to my face LOL) and I think I give more unique and interesting gifts then I could find at one of the big box stores. Also on my limited income they get a much better gift this way!
My son in law Blake loves trains...I was lucky enough to find a yard sale with lots of train items

Books are always an awesome and welcome gift in my family. This book 'The Ocean Realm' was a gift to Blake. The Sesame Street Number Cards are going to be used in some crafts but sneaked into this photo
Books for Sara....Seasonal/Holiday books with recipes, crafts and fun ideas for the family

These books for Tiger are awesome and cost a fraction of their retail price
Friends get books also and this fun 'Best Friend' candle.....because you know too much about me..for my friend Terry
My friend Dennis recently got a bread machine so these cookbooks seemed appropriate and 'The Flag We Love' he loved
This gorgeous glass bottle stopper was a favorite gift for my friend Terry~every year I find her something beautiful in glass
These amazing hand made glasses still had tags on them saying made in Okinawa where my friends were stationed when they were in the Marines
This was a fun find for Dennis and Terry
I'm not listing prices but you can bet these were wonderful bargains. I also like being able to find gifts perfectly suited to each person. I shop all year long. Mr ALC received several thrifted gifts also but I haven't photographed them yet.

I too enjoy giving thrifty gifts...I even gave my hubby a recycled gift. It was a great name brand shirt a turkey patten (he is an avid turkey hunter). It still had to original dept. store tags on it. SALE for $6! Going Green in 2012! Love to hunt and the deals...Thanx for sharing. You gave some amazing gifts. Those are certainly my favorite gifts! When my sister and I talked on the phone, we were listing the things we were looking for so that we can both be on the 'look out'! It's MUCH more fun and the gifts are better than anything you can find in the stores. ♥ Those green handmade glasses are gorgeous! ♥
My bestest childhood friend is excellent at giving thrifted gifts... looks like you have that same "gift" of finding just the right gift!

I gave a few thrifted gifts to my daughters - but didn't tell them they were thrifted, LOL! I have asked my family to get me thrifted gifts and they did an amazing job this year, a Lefton girly, a Napco month angel for July, and a pair of brand new ice skates for me to decorate for next Xmas! I have trained them well! :OD

I got some thrifted gifts for Christmas and also gave some - I'm happy and so were the recipients!!!
I hadn't thought of the Sesame Street cards in years - my kids had those back in the 80's!!!

Now that's the kind of shopping we all should do! I think our daughter's favorite gifts are the thrifted unexpected gifts I find for them.
I think what is so wonderful is how personal each gift is. Your friends and family must have been so touched to receive such thoughtful gifts.
I am a crazy thrifter! I love the hunt and finding unique things for those I care about. I have some family members that feel wronged by a thrift gift no matter how much thought went into it or how unique it is to them. The rest seem fine. You found some great things!

Linda that is a great idea and books are such wonderful gifts too! I especially like the idea of how you give your friend a glass item each year. That would be so neat to have a specific "theme" to look for throughout the year for someone. Great finds!
Hi Linda, What wonderful gifts you gave! I like doing this...not only is the hunt fun but the gifts are thoughtful. I found a pair of opera glasses for my daughter who loves opera at the Paris flea markets and finally gave them to her. If i had received those Holiday books when mine were little, like little Tiger, I would have been so happy. Good job thrifty girl:)

All the wise women who raised me (in north Georgia) would be very proud of you for resisting the urge to tell us how much you paid for your gifts. I enjoy finding gifts to fit the person - know matter where I buy them. Happy New Year.

I usually gift my neighbors with homemade cookies, cup cakes and store bought candies at Christmas. However, I did think it would be a good idea to find pretty plates...load them up with cookies and tell them the plate is part of the gift.
You've proven, once again, to be a girl after my own heart! Yes, I give thrifty gifts. Those or something handmade by someone. Thrifty is fun - from the hunt, to the discovery, to the presentation.

I love the unique options that vintage gift giving offers. Stores and shopping malls only offer what is currently on the market, but vintage stores and garage sales offer many years worth of treasures. My sister said that she did all of her stocking shopping at garage sales and found some fantastic treasures for her grandchildren. She found some really fun games and toys for less than a dollar each! What a smart Santa she is!
