Thanksgiving 2013

This year I enjoyed a special time with my family!

Monday I had dinner here at my new place with both my daughters Ashleigh & Sara, my SIL Blake and of course Tiger! 

I set a very simple table this year. 

 With a toddler you want to make sure little hands can't grab too much!

I used my vintage Fall dishes Metlox Woodland Gold!  I've been lucky to find enough plates to serve 4 and a toddler! Vintage green water glass and a brown wine glass complete the setting.

Tiger had his own special flatware and a tiny 'wine' glass.  He enjoyed toasting to the family with his Sprite!  I must say we had a great time! 

My plans were to join my best friends D&T for Thanksgiving but a nasty cold has changed my plans.  I'm staying home and getting well.

So I set a tray table for one! 

I had leftover ham, a baked potato and stove top stuffing.  I toasted with yummy apple cider to my family and all of you! 

There are many ways to spend a holiday and today even if it's just me and Charlie, I know I am loved and I am so thankful!

Progress In The Living Room

I've made some progress in decorating the living room of my new home! 

You have seen my couch which was the first thing I bought and I choose a neutral so I could change my decor as often as I wanted too!

I wanted to add more seating to my small space and like the look of slipper chairs.  I have been looking at them in stores, sitting on them and decided that was what I wanted but at a bargain price.  Yes this is me we are talking about! 

I found several chairs on sale at Target online

I fell in love with this chair but wasn't sure!

By the time I decided to order it was sold out! 

SAD FACE!

So I kept looking and my next choice was still available and it was even clearance priced for more then 1/2 off~ $68

Here it is!  I love it and the colors are perfect! 

Then I realized, they are Charlie colors! 

Thanks for my new chair Mom!

Thanksgiving is almost here!

I will be enjoying Turkey dinner next week with some of my best friends! 

I love to display this vintage children's book and read it with Tiger before the big day!

The Halloween decor is gone and in it's place a few Thanksgiving pieces! 

The creamers were both thrift shop finds.  

Amber glass and a few little dishes along with my favorite Publix Market Salt & Pepper Pilgrim shakers just make me happy!

These cute little birds on a pumpkin were bought on clearance at Cracker Barrel last year.  I love it on top of two Bibles that belonged to my Dad

My daughter Ashleigh will be here this weekend and we will be having some great family time!

Thrifty Things Friday #135

It's that time of the week when we gather at Diann's to share all our thrifty finds and ideas with each other!  Last week I had some things to share but never got them posted when Tiger fell and broke his arm. He is doing great and so this week here are my fun finds.

I found this adorable piece to add to my collection.  I love the color on this Shenango restaurant creamer and it was only $1.50

These candlewick s&p shakers caught my eye.  One is cloudy and missing a top but the other one is perfect and for $1.25 they came home with me!

I love this wine glass and since I have two others like it I was thrilled to add this one for .50

My favorite find...

This Shawnee pottery planter is such a fun find.  I love the elf shoe and it was only $1 since it is damaged.  Once upon a time there was a little Elf attached to it.

 I still love it as is!

I will add one of my knee hugger elves to it at Christmas!

Fall In The Mountains!

I want to thank all of you for the kind comments about little Tiger breaking his arm.  He is doing great and not letting it slow him down much at all!

Last week I took a trip to the mountains to enjoy some Fall weather and pretty leaves!

We stayed in this great little motel in North Carolina!   It was nice and so reasonable!  

We had breakfast and headed out!

This was our first time driving this skyway and it was so pretty!

The Cherohala Skyway (Tennessee State Hwy. 165 and North Carolina 143) links two small towns and follows a mile (1.6-kilometer) high ridge in the Unicoi Mountains. Designated a National Scenic Byway shortly after it opened in 1996, the skyway is the costliest road in North Carolina. It took more than three decades and $100 million to build, but many say the views along the route are worth it. You can complete the drive in as little as two to three hours, but take your time. This route was built for sightseeing. The highway clings to four peaks over 5,000 feet (1,524 meters) in elevation and nine peaks above 4,000 feet (1,219 meters), offering—when the often-fickle weather permits—amazing views of mountains, foliage, and waterfalls. The Cherohala Skyway climbs high into the Smoky Mountain air, ascending from an elevation of just over 930 feet (283 meters) near Tellico Plains to 5,390 feet (1,643 meters) at the road's highest point, the Santeetlah Overlook. Nearly half of the elevation change comes in the ten-mile (16-kilometer) stretch after Tennessee–North Carolina state line.

We were past the peak of the leaves, but still lots of pretty colors to enjoy!

We took our time and stopped at many of the pull offs to take photos!

Such a gorgeous view!  My photos don't do it justice.  We took a picnic lunch and stopped and ate cold fried chicken and it was so good!

The sky was so blue!

Mr. C and I had a great time! 

We are thinking of going again in the Spring!

What A Day!!

Forgive me for being so late to post, but this has been a really LONG day!

I kept Tiger today!  We had a great morning!  We went to the Mall and rode the little train around the mall.  We played on some cars and we rode the escalators up and down...twice!

We bought some new pj's, pants and a shirt for Tiger!  We had a great time! 

Came home for a nap time!  

Then I hear a crash and crying! 

Tiger fell off his bed! 

I called his Daddy and he took him to the Dr.

He broke his arm!

He was so brave as they put on his cast!

A 'sorta' smile! 

So not a thrifty post but I promise I have some fun things to share next week!
