Monday I went to my local thrift store and since it was 1/2 price day and a holiday, it was packed! The check-out line was wound around the store...did I find anything worth standing in line for???
You bet I did!
Both of these items have cracks but I think the little creamer for .20 and the sugar bowl for .40 were bargains
I have a pretty large collection of these types of planters. This one is fairly small and for half of .99 = .50 I had to have it...
I love this glaze!
Now a question...would you have bought this???
Oh so dirty and lots of lost paint
It's a planter and no chips or cracks that I can see
Marked USA and only???
.99
Here it is all washed and cleaned up
so yes I did buy it! Turns out it is an old Shawnee Dutch Girl Planter
the 'cold paint' has mostly worn off but I saw them listed on Ebay for over $10
so I think I made a good buy.
I'm joining these fun parties this week
I am heading to YMCA summer camp tomorrow. WHY you ask? My daughter and her husband have worked Y camp every summer for over 6 years. This year they are taking Tiger to camp and Grandma gets to go for the first week to help out. I am excited and looking forward to some time with Sara, Blake and Tiger and some fun time in the mountains! I hope to blog while I'm there.
Hugs,
Linda

Hi Linda! Love your little dutch girl planter! How fun that you can recognize it for its value! Have fun at summer camp and try not to get short-sheeted! lol...hugs..Debbie
I like the creamer. It looks like ironstone, which I love. The item you are calling a sugar bowl looks like a Stangl pottery planter. And the yellow planter is adorable. Do you think removing what's left of the paint would devalue it?~Ames
Yes that is a score Linda, and it's cute! Love the green glazed planter. I have a Yellow one.
Linda that is the thing that is so different about you - you can see past the oldness - the dirt - the paint and then you see something beautiful!
Have fun at camp with your buddy Tiger.
Heck yes! Especially the girl....I have one just like it!
My mother-in-law had lots of little planters like that. I have inherited a few.
Have a great time with the grand-son. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x4
I like all of your purchases. I would buy them if I had a place for them. Being old as dirt I am out of room to display anything else. The Dutch Girl Planter is a steal. Oh congrats on getting to go to camp. I used to do that when my kids were young. Blessings

Terrific buys, Linda and I would have definitely bought that cute planter. I think the paint worn off adds to the appeal. Have fun at camp.
You made some great choices. However, nothing is a bargin unless you need it.
Hi Linda...So glad you found some more treasures while thrifty store shopping. Ohhhhh, have FUN with that little Tiger, the doll baby. Susan
Sure, I would have...you have quite a collection of planters, Linda.
I think the planter is quite charming, I certainly would have bought it. I have a deer that I think would sit perfectly next to it. Good buy Linda!
There's something about the planter that makes me smile, so yes, I think I would have bought it!
Have a wonderful time at summer camp!
Jane
LOVE the dutch girl planter. I have a client who is originally from Holland, so I would have snatched this up & put it in her cupboard to hold pencils, notes, or recipe cards.
Yes, I would buy! I love a bargain! You really found some great items! Have fun at camp!
Blessings!!
You did great at the half price sale, with out charity shops here did half price days, they only seem to do half price on a certain items. Scarlett x
Hi Linda! ~ You found some great bargains! YAY! I do not have a green thumb, so I would have totally overlooked the planters that you bought! But, what a find with that little dutch girl one! Good for you! :) Have fun with little Tiger! I know you will :)
Your finds are always interesting and so inexpensive!
Love the lil creamer would make a great toothpick holder and the creamer could be made into a pin cushion. I am not real fond of plant holders cause I can kill any plant that comes in my house!! lol
I would have bought the little dutch girl planter!! She is so precious Linda!
That little Dutch Girl planter is so cute and even if it had turned out to have no value I'm glad you gave her a new home where she will continue to be loved.
Have a wonderful time with Tiger at camp, sounds like SO much fun!
Hugs
Oh, YES I would buy that planter! How sweet it is! I even like it without the paint. Good buys on all of them!
You made a fantastic buy with the Dutch Girl planter!!! Love it!!! Have fun at camp...enjoy the mountains and time with your family!!!
Definitely would buy the Dutch girl planter. I collect USA pottery.
I think you made a fabulous buy - she is SO sweet! Happy Thursday - Tanya
HI Linda - You have some real gems there, and yes, I would have splurged on them too! Hope that you are keeping well,
Jane
Oh, don't ya just love 1/2 Price Day?!?!?
More fun than a barrel of monkeys.
Well, I really don't know how much fun a barrel of monkeys actually is, but.........
I'm not sure if I would have bought the Dutch girl planter or not! It was a very good buy---just not so much me.
But I do like the green planter and the creamer.
Have fun at camp!!!! I bet you will have more fun with Tiger than all the other campers combined!!!
I would have definitely bought the little planter. In fact, I did buy one almost identical but it did have more paint left and it sold at my booth immediately. Good buy!
Love the other things too and thanks for sharing them at TREasure Hunt Thursday.
Rhonda
Linda that Dutch girl planter is adorable! I love it. And your other thrift finds are great! Have a wonderful time at camp with the little cutie! Thanks for joining TTF and have an awesome day!
Nice finds. I remember seeing many of those planters or similar when growing up.
Have fun at camp, and try to stay cool. :D
I decided this year that if something is only a dollar or two and it makes me smile I am allowed to buy it. Anything under a dollar is a no-brainer. Go for it! Finding out it has a greater monetary value is just a bonus.
My son went to Y camp when he was around 5 or 6. He had fun. I had a blast. Tiger may not appreciate it this year but I know he'll love family time.
Your Dutch girl planter is precious! And yes...we would have fought over her right in the store! lol Have fun at camp...don't let the skeeters bite you! ♥
