H is for Hot, Hot, Hot

It's been a Hot summer already and this trayscape says it all!
Hot Summer Colors!
Inspired by this cute Flip Flop candle holder found at a yard sale for 25 cents
Green, yellow and orangey-red plates
A green glass for something cold to drink!
The bamboo handled flatware was found at GW
I had this one poppy napkin in my stash.  I love these great colors and the price of 25 cents...who knows I may find another one someday!
I topped a glass napkin ring with the bright yellow flower!
With the tealight lit this becomes a very special trayscape for one!
Hot, Hot, Hot!
Don't you agree?

Family Treasures #1

Family Treasures
I think many of us have them
Are they packed away? in a closet? in the attic?
I thought I would unpack mine and share them with you in a series I'll call 'Family Treasures'

For this first post I'm sharing some items and photos from my Dad's childhood.  He was born in 1930 on July 7th and would have turned 85 yesterday, so with him on my mind I started here.
I recently received all these items when my Mom downsized and passed them on to me.
Conrad Paul Buschmann and his Mother, Evelyn
Sweet baby shoes
I especially love the blue hat **correction from my Mom, the little blue hat was my brothers...whoops but it's still cute** and the little sock garters.  Very sweet!
I love these photos.  These are tinted photos.  Before color photography, they would take the black and white prints and tint them.  My Mom worked at a photographers studio for awhile and told me about this process.  This is Dad with his Mother and it looks like a stuffed elephant!
One of my favorite items is this swim suit.  My Dad whose name is Conrad was called 'Connie' by his family.  As he grew older he hated it! In the service he got the nickname of 'Bush' and was called that most of his life!
More photos and a pair of glasses.
These are from the 1930's
I like this photo of Dad and his Mother very much.  She died when he was just 15 and he went to live with his Aunt and Uncle.  He didn't have an easy childhood but went on to make a great life for himself and his family.
Dad's High School Graduation photo and his year book!  I'm really blessed to have these great memories from my Dad's life.
Next post will be about my Dad's Marine years!

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!!
This is a Google Doodle and I'm in love with it!
I made a Pinterest Board with Google Doodles!
What are Google Doodles?
Doodles are the fun, surprising, and sometimes spontaneous changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers, and scientists.
Here are a few other 4th of July Google Doodles I found

and this one!
I think I know what I'll be doing all day!

G is for GRANDMA!!!

Grandma is one of my favorite words now!
It's what this sweet boy calls me
and what this sweet girl will call me when she can talk!
Don't you just want to kiss those sweet cheeks!

I thought I might never become a Grandma but 5 years ago I got the call....and on April 7th this sweet little one was born!
If you follow my blog then you know this little guy has changed my life.  I moved to be closer to him and his family and have loved being a hands on Grandma.
He continues to be my sidekick!
And is now a great big brother to his little sister
Born just this past April she is making me
the happiest Grandma times two!
Life is full of JOY and the love I have for these two will never end!

Finally Finished!

As June is coming to a close, I'm finally finished celebrating my birthday!  I think I've milked it as long as I can this time!
Last week the my friend Sue @Rue Mouffetard hosted a birthday party for myself and Denise (the other June birthday in our group)
She greeted us with this array of appetizers!
Oh my goodness!
I can't begin to tell you how good it all was!
All homemade by Sue!
The table was set with the cutest bird theme!
Vintage china from her mother-in-law.  She used the greens and purples of the cute little bird boxes she found and filled with Madeleine's for each of us.
Purple Ball Jars with candles
Lunch was Croque Monsieur and oh my was it good!!  Ham and cheese gone wild!
A fresh salad with orange poppy seed dressing.
Not much left on any of our plates!

Sandie (Chatty Crone), Maureen (Sue's neighbor and fantastic artist), Me and the other birthday girl Denise!
Rose and our hostess Sue
Dessert!  Amazing Strawberry Cake!

We couldn't leave Sue's without taking a closer look at her new car
Yes, this is a Ferrari!  As close as I'll get to one I'm sure.
It is gorgeous!
Here we are with Sue's husband, 'The Boss' as she calls him.  He is a hoot and we always enjoy his company!

Of course there were presents!
Guess which bag is for me??
You can never have too many note cards, especially if they have the Eiffel Tower on them
(do my friends know me or what)
Sue gave me this cute creamer with a pink bird on the handle and this wonderful kitchen towel
Already hanging in the kitchen!
Sandie gave me this cute bird...love it!
Denise gave me a Starbucks gift card...I can't wait for some yummy iced coffee soon!
Denise and I look forward to this party at Sue's each year!
Thank you Sue!  You rock my friend!

Now a few gifts I bought for myself in the new category (as opposed to thrifty finds)
This awesome tote was found at WalMart for $10 I love it and have used it several times already
I found this fun summer purse at Marshall's
I love it!  Lots of pockets and such a fun color!
Some new clothes and a new pair of shoes and I am a very happy Birthday girl!

Thanks for joining me in my June birthday celebrations and yes they are Finally done.
Wishing you JOY,

Linda
