PASSING THE GARAGE SALE TORCH!

Many of you are followers of the fabulous Debbie at Debbiedoos!   Today Debbie has announced that she is taking a blogging break.  I will miss her a lot but I do understand and support her reasons for this break and wish her well!
Debbie has been the hostess of two fabulous linky parties, Garage Salen ParTay and the creative Before and After!   Kim at Savy Southern Style will be continuing the Before and After party and  Debbie has done me the honor of allowing me to continue the Garage Salen ParTay here at
A La Carte!

If you are a reader of A La Carte then you know how I love bargains!  If they are found at thrift shops, yard or garage sales, Estate sales or flea markets that is my kind of shopping and I always call it 'Junkin'.   I am changing the name of the linky party to JUNKIN FINDS!  I hope you will all come back Friday and join my first linky party!  Debbie has graciously given me her button for the linky party and added the new name!  She is such a sweetie!

I know yard sales are more seasonal so this JUNKIN party should cover anything you find second hand!  I will have the link up Friday so hope to see you then!!

Debbie you are the best and I will really miss you.  Take care and enjoy your blogging break!

Always,
Linda

A HONKEN HUGE PUMPKIN!

Mr ALC and I stopped to visit the Birmingham Botanical Gardens on Thursday!  We had a fun time on our mini photo shoot.  At the start of the gardens is a cute gift shop and they had plants for sale.  I enjoyed the fall displays.
I had to take this shot with the flamingo
Gorgeous Mums!
I love the pumpkins and other squash among the flowers
These orange pumpkins really pop on the blue planters
This was my favorite vignette of squash and flowers
I love this rack!

This caught my attention and made me smile

He was all by himself and 25 cents
Isn't he cute!! \
Another orphan S&P
This funny little guy cost 10 cents
Marked made in Japan
He makes me smile!

I also picked up
This bowl for 25 cents
It will be great for Thanksgiving
These metal leaves were 50 cents
I am sure they will be used in a tablescape

I picked up this squirrel several times and finally bought him for 50 cents.  Not sure what he is for but I just could not leave him!

TURNING 80 CAN BE FUN!

Turning 80 can be Fun!  We decided to have Mom's party at a local Chinese Buffet Restaurant.  All the family was to gather there and then come back to the house for cake. Mom was in for a big surprise when we arrived.  Her sister from Corpus Christi, TX had driven up for the party and her brother from Calif had flown in.  I don't think I have ever seen my Mom so surprised as when she walked in and saw my Uncle Jim!  We all about cried she was so happy!  All of Mom's surviving siblings were there and it really meant so much to her.  There were her children, her Grandkids (except one...my Sara who lives in GA and couldn't make it) and all three of her Great Grands were there.  Add some nieces and friends and it was quite the gathering!

My Aunt Betty (left) who also lives in Houston
Then my Uncle Jim from Calif and his wife Sylvia!
I hadn't seen them in over 30 years!
My Brothers wonderful children
Amanda and Marshall
I was so happy my beautiful daughter Ashleigh was able to make the trip.  My Mom was thrilled!
My sister in law Sherrie in black and next to her my cousin Karen
Mom opening cards!
My nephew Marshall, his lovely wife Lacy
They have 3 gorgeous children
Brenna, Kobie and Mia!

This is really a small portion of our very large
extended family!
I want to thank my cousin Heather for taking some of the many photos you have seen here...
