While taking photos of some of my thrifty finds I realized I had lots of whites so I saved them to share today!!

I found this very cute soup tureen

 She is daring me to put chicken soup in here though! 

 only $2.50

All of these items were found at a Thrift shop on Sr day (30% off)

I also found 6 of these white napkins

 pink edging and design for $5

Brand new and a Cynthia Rowley design

Teacup with a very sweet design .50

and the cat creamer .75

My BEST find of the day!

I love this grape vine design

and only $4.00

LIFE magazine dated June 5, 1950

Dated just a few days before I was born!

Life magazine was a humor and general interest magazine

published from 1883 to 1936 

TIME magazine founder Henry Luce bought the magazine in 1936 solely to acquire the name

He launched it as a news magazine with a heavy emphasis on Photojournalism published weekly from 1936 to 1972

Such a difference in then and now!  It is fun to look at this magazine and the ads (LOTS for cigarettes and Liquor) and see

Just how much things have changed in 60 years!

 LIFE  magazine came back in 1973 and published special editons

It is the magazine published between 1936-1972 that are collectibles

THRIFTY FINDS #2

Time to share a few of my thrifty finds from this week

I found this great bag/purse at the Thrift for $2

Vera Bradley and in like new condition!

Cute coffee mug for 50 cents!

Another egg cup for my collection 50 cents and this very cute tiny teapot for 75 cents

Now for my worst find....you know how sometimes you think something is a good deal and then it's really not

AT first glance, very cute especially if painted white

It's a little crooked...oh yeah while photographing I noticed it had been broken and poorly glued back together, it will still be cute when painted white but I paid a $1 for this!

oh well...

My best buy of the week made up for it!

This fabulous hand painted creamer

Be still my heart!  

While this is not "Blue Ridge Pottery" it is from The Cash Family Potteries made in Erwin, TN  and was the earlier business before being bought by Southern Potteries.

This shape was called a 'buttermilk pitcher'

And a much better buy for $1

SEE HOW THEY'VE GROWN!

Several weeks ago I showed you the pots I planted for my deck.  Thought I would give you an update on how they are doing!

Here is the photo I took on May 14th of one of the planters

 A few weeks later and lots of rain

I am happy with how it is looking.  The plant in the front is an ornamental sweet potato vine and I love the color

Well this one just did not make it!

Not sure what happened but it died and all the others lived

I did buy clearance plants so maybe this one had something wrong with it.  I will try again with something new.  

Overall I'm pretty happy with my first attempts at container planting

My friend Dennis is helping me with some tomato plants this weekend and I will see how I do with those!
