Thrifty Things Friday #138

Welcome to Thrifty Things Friday!
Diann and I had such a great time visiting all you wonderful posts last week!
I can't wait to see what you have to share this week!

My newest thrifty Christmas find
These two adorable Scottie Dog coffee mugs!
I collect Waechtersbach mugs and I found these for .40 each at Value Village!
Love Them!

So many of you commented on my vignette that I wanted to show you a better photo since we had some sunshine...yay!!
I love the wintery feel of this and will leave it up after Christmas.  Everything was thrifted except the pinecone pics and they were on clearance (of course).

Tiger loves this little Christmas hankie pillow made by my sweet friend Judy and keeps wanting to 'borrow' it and take it home.  Grandma wants to keep this one so...
I tucked it on the shelf behind the elf and now we are both happy!

Be sure to link up you Thrifty posts HERE at Diann's blog.  Remember to add a link back to the party.  Thanks and Happy two weeks til Christmas!

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Let's Dish Christmas Challenge 2013

I'm linking this up to Thrifty Things Friday
Here
I hope you will join Diann and I and share your thrifty posts!

It has been so long since I've joined in a Tablescape challenge and this morning found me deciding I would not miss this one at Cuisine Kathleen's Let's Dish!  We were to find a photo of a tablescape that inspired us. Here is mine!
Mary posted this last December,
she called it, Trimming the Tree!
Well inspired I am so here is my version!
I did not try to copy her table, I mean she is the most amazing tablescaper, but I was inspired!
The Christmas tree plates are what caught my eye initially!  I have this set by Staffordshire Engravings called Yuletide.  I found them 5 years ago at a Goodwill.  Love them and they are my everyday dishes during December this year!
I used a Matelasse bedspread and my burlap runner to mimic her setting.
I tied a white napkin with a red ornament and a pinecone and some berries
I bought this little tree for my kitchen at Michael's 1/2 price.  I didn't have a white urn but put the tree in a cut glass bowl lined with white. I hung little red cardinals and pinecones on the tree.  I used one of my aluminum trays and lots of ornaments!
Mary used many of her vintage ornaments.  Mine are still in storage so I used some new ornaments instead.
I really like the little red cardinals.
I only have six that I bought a few years ago at Target on clearance.
Water goblets and some red tea lights in my new votives sent to me by my good friend Sue!
Mary did her table outside and had lovely light, mine was inside
and I tried to add some beauty with some candles!
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
Please visit Kathleen and see how everyone else did with the challenge this week.

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Just A Little Peek!

I've been decorating the cubbies and playing with my Christmas decorations.  I think I like it, but you know how the tweeking will continue!
These new bookcases are so tall but I found some things to add to the top that I like!
Also put some Christmas in the cubbies!
Better light on this side of the room.
So much rain that my photos are less then ideal
One cubbie full of vintage love!
This cubbie has my sweet Lefton Angels and a mishmash of other cuteness!
A few snowmen and some vintage ornaments
Touches of red and woodland
and a stocking to match

My word for 2013~~ JOY

I've been dreaming of a red truck with a tree in the back for a couple of years now but instead
I found this cute $3 ornament at Target and decided this would be a sweet substitute until that vintage red truck comes along!

My Aunt made me this Nativity many years ago and I always display it at Christmas.
I'm still working on the Baker's Rack but the top looks pretty cute don't ya think??

So I hope you've enjoyed a few peeks at my Christmas decorations!  I'm almost done and if the rain will go away I'll get some better photos.
I'm joining these parties
Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Ornament Exchange

I joined Vicky at Life On Willie Mae Lane
for an ornament exchange
I received my package from Lynn who does not have a blog.
She sent me the cutest things~!
Two adorable snowmen ornaments and two cute pads of paper with a pen!  There was also a package of Peppermint Cocoa Mix but my Grandson took that home!

Lynn said this was her first exchange and I hope she reads this and knows I loved it all!
These ornaments are perfect for my pink and white tree!
Here they are on the tree!
Thank you Lynn!
and thank you Vicky for organizing this exchange!
I sent my package to Diane @ Cottage Wishes!

Wishing You JOY,

Linda

Thrifty Things Friday #137

It's that great day of the week when we share all our thrifty finds, ideas and recipes!
Diann and I both hope you had a great Thanksgiving and
we are glad you are back to join us this week!

My thrifty finds this week!
We are big readers at my house and you can never start too soon.  Tiger has had books since birth and is read to everyday.  We have been collecting a few Christmas books to read during this month of December but still only had a few.
I went to a thrift store on Tue and hit the jackpot!
From the 'ABC's of Christmas' to 'The Santa Claus Book' none of these books was more then .79 with many costing .25 and .15 each!
Several books about the real Christmas story and song book so we can sing Christmas carols together!  The Nutcracker Ballet will be read to him as he listens to the music.  Tiger is soaking in all that is Christmas this year!

Do you remember my little elf shoe planter I found?
Mine was minus the Elf!  So I added my own Elf that I found for .25
I like my Elf better if truth be told!

So join Diann and I and share you thrifty posts

Wishing you JOY,

Linda
