Bargain Clutter
It is exactly what it sounds like! Bargains, I mean aren't we all suckers for a bargain. I got this awesome 'fill in the blank' for pennies and it normally costs dollars!
I've always loved bargains. I go straight to the clearance aisles in the stores. So do I buy things I don't need? You Betcha!!
How many note cards and pads of paper does one gal need?
Or if it's such a good deal you buy multiples when one would do??
So all this (and much more) ends up as clutter!
When I discovered thrifting I kind of went ...
well....CRAZY!
Such bargains and I bought and bought and bought! Told myself it was for my ETSY shop, and while I did sell a little bit it really wasn't my thing! Or it was for my blog...I mean I needed something to share on thrifty days and then...
I discovered Tablescaping!
Which resulted in this and so much more!
Two Drawers of Napkins
and Three drawers of place mats and tablecloths!
Napkin rings, flatware and on and on!
So where did I store it all? I had the dish closet and (drum roll) a basement!
It was way to easy to just 'take it to the basement' and I did!
Now that I've moved to a two bedroom duplex I have no room for all my stuff aka Clutter!
So I was forced to make some hard decisions.
I started with dishes!
This is just a part of what I donated! I had to get brutal with myself. It was hard and it felt like I was giving away money. I mean I paid for these items and now I'm just giving it away!
Then I had an epiphany!
Thrifting and the thrill of the hunt were fun!
It was (and is, lets be honest here) entertainment for me!
Others might go to movies, concerts, out to dinner, etc and they don't have anything to show for it. So it was 'ok' for me to donate items and let go of them and consider that it was entertainment and not a waste of money!
So donating place mats, table cloths and so much more was easier....really it was and is!
I'm still donating as I pack and purge!
I have taken to the thrift shop over 6 trunk loads of stuff! Not just dishes but clothes, collectibles, books, holiday decor and junk!
The more I donate, the easier it is!
I still love my stuff and believe me I have more then I need, but I am working on it. When I thrift shop now it's with a different 'eye'. Things I need, stuff for Tiger and some collectibles but not nearly as much. My space is limited and so I am having to make decisions. If I buy something there must be a place for it or something else has to go. REALLY it does!
