I got home late last night! Long drive from Houston to Atlanta! Very tired but sooooo happy to be home. Charlie and my Honey Honey are glad I'm back also! Spring has Sprung! Flowers starting to bloom and lots of pollen. Resting today after unloading my car. Thanks for all the prayers during my drive, much appreciated!

HAMMERED ALUMINUM
I love the hammered aluminum pieces that were so popular during the 1950's. I started to see them in Antique/Vintage malls a few years ago and the prices on them were more then I wanted to pay. I have been lucky to find several pieces at Thrift Shops and use them often. Since I am still 'on the road' I have this one piece that I found at a Goodwill in Houston, TX.
This piece is not in the best condition, but I love the lid
This looks to be a Rodney Kent piece with a tulip finial
So many of these pieces were not marked and it takes some research to try to find out makers. I love the look of these pieces and the different designs on them. I will do another post soon showing you more of my collection.
Today's 'trivia' information is how to clean these aluminum finds.
As with so many things cleaning is a matter of taste. These are not expensive items so use your own judgment in cleaning. Once the patina is gone it takes years to build back up. That said some folks like the shiny look that can be brought back with some work.
- Wash your pieces by hand using warm water and mild dish soap
- Shine the surface of the aluminum with a steel wool pad or a soapy scouring pad like Brillo or SOS
- If your pieces has a lot of patina many folks swear by mag wheel polish sold in auto parts store to achieve a bright shiny look.
So for $1.99 this was a great find
Now be sure to go and visit

HOMEWARD BOUND
I have had a wonderful time in Texas, but it is time to go home!
I think this is the longest I have ever been away, a whole month! I have spent time with my Mom and we have talked, reminisced, discussed the future and most of all just enjoyed each others company. I have seen Aunts, cousins, a niece, a nephew and his family and my brother and sister in law. It has been a glorious visit!
But Charlie has been sitting in the window waiting for me to come home
Yes Charlie, Mama loves you and I'll be home soon!
Oh and Mr. A La Carte misses me also!
If I don't have any posts for a few days, don't worry I'm
ON THE ROAD AGAIN......
Always,
Linda

STAGECOACH INN PART DEUX
I hope you enjoyed my first post about the Stagecoach Inn and
KNICKKNACKS, if you missed it, you can read it HERE
I have more photos of this wonderful Stagecoach Inn in Chappell Hill, Texas. It is also a Bed & Breakfast and has a small Antique Shop. The bedrooms were wonderful so I wanted to share more photos of this amazing Inn.
Beautiful textiles on all the beds
This room was one of my favorites in the main house and if you look closely you can see the telephone. This is the owners bedroom.
This bed was in a large upstairs room that during the time it was used in the 1800's would have had bunk beds for travelers
No closets, just pegs....would not work for me!
This room is very small and was one of my favorites..lots of light
Very nice bedding
This is a large piece of original wall where travelers would write names....old time graffiti....
The owners have framed it and left it on the wall in this room
Another photo of the dining room mantel
This framed Ge'alogy Record on the wall was very interesting
Love this chair
This chest is beautiful
This room with the desk was one of my favorites
Behind the Inn are two buildings that were moved to this property and are the rooms that are rented out. This is the Coach House.
This one was occupied so no photos inside
This is the Weems House and has a room they rent and also their antique store
This bed was beautiful and the fireplace across the room would make this a romantic getaway
These items were for sale
I enjoyed my visit to the Stagecoach Inn
