VINTAGE PINECONE

Welcome to Tablescape Thursday hosted by Susan at Between Naps On The Porch.

I found myself enjoying the cooler days here in Georgia and it inspired this woodsy themed table.

First a Vintage Postcard to welcome you with Christmas Greetings....

I used a two tiered wooden nut dish to make the centerpiece. I put a birdhouse with a cardinal and pine cones in the top and surrounded the bottom with greenery, pine cones and red beads. The runner is a dark green felt with snowmen decorations. I found this at a Thrift Shop in Sanibel Island last year. Picked up the colors I wanted to use for this table.

I had snowmen salt and pepper shakers on the table along with red tea lights each place had a pine cone in the bowl....

I used red placemats, brown napkins and my everyday stainless

To start the layers I used a large cream plate with a vintage plate made by Stetson China Company on top of that. The design is called Pinecone and also was made in blue. I love the colors of green and brown on the plate.

I added a square glass bowl, found at the thrift shop for $1 each. They have an interesting texture and you can still see the pattern through them.

I had a matching small bowl and plate in the pine cone pattern and Libby green glasses to complete the place setting....

Hope you enjoyed this vintage pine cone table. I have several place settings of these dishes found here and there over several years in thrift shops and Antique stores.

Happy Thursday Everyone!

REDNESDAY - SANTA'S ANYONE?

I am joining Sue at It's a Very Cherry World for REDnesday!

First of all I will apologize for the quality (or lack of) in these photo's. Just because it's Red Wednesday did not mean I planned all the photos to have this reddish tinge...

That said....I found this cute Santa In a sleigh at my local Last Chance Thrift Shop on 1/2 price Monday. So I paid only 99 cents! Now this is some lovely vintage plastic.... Merry Christmas is written on the sleigh...

And the best part.....

The Santa's are coasters! Four of them....I fell in love with this and could not wait to get them home so I could share with all of you. So 70's I think, but just guessing.

Keeping with the 70's theme...

In the early 70's I went to my first Day After Christmas Sale...My cousin took me to a Hallmark store. I was so excited. I found this cute stuffed ornament....Santa of course...Can't begin to remember what I paid, but it couldn't have been much. He has hung on my Christmas tree every year since then.

Another item I bought that day at the Hallmark store, were these cute Santa and Mrs Claus salt and pepper shakers. They were never used as shakers but have been displayed each year as decorations. Guess my excitement when at a yard sale this past summer I found the same pair for a mere 25 cents wow. So now I have two sets....This started my love of "Mrs Claus".

She just looks so calm in the face of all the Christmas excitement.

Hope you all are having a fantastic Wednesday and getting your Christmas decorations up.

Thanks for stopping by my blog during this crazy Christmas season.

DAY TRIP TO CHATTANOOGA

On a recent trip to Chattanooga, TN I took some photos in the park. Had a wonderful time even though it was cold and the wind was really blowing.

This photo of the walking bridge over the river was my favorite
shot of the day.

I loved the blue of the steel girders of the bridge and the design and shadows they made.

A view of the carousel building through the bridge

Most of the trees were bare because of so much rain and the wind, but this beauty against the blue and cloudy sky caught my eye.

This photo is from my yard and looking at the hydrangeas that have turned brown

It was a fun to take some photos as it had been awhile since I had done so. I am not the best photographer, but I do love it and hope to continue to learn and improve.

Thanks for taking some time to view my attempts!

SHOW ME SOME BLUE

It's Friday and that means show and tell Friday over at My Romantic Home.

On a recent Goodwill stop (it was Sr discount day) I found these great "blue" finds. A set of four plates from Crate and Barrel ($2.96), 3 water glasses ($1.51), cute pink and blue napkins ($1.91)
and this great blue creamer?....($1.21) then of course my 25% discount.

Sorry the photo is a little washed out, we actually had sunshine this day.

I love the pattern on these plates!

Just love this color and the lines of this creamer.

So these were my bargains and they will show up in a Blue tablescape one of these days!

Happy Friday Everyone!

CALIFORNIA STRAWBERRY'S

I'm linking this up for Tablescape Thursday...

On Black Friday I went into a Goodwill in Chattanooga, TN. I was there when it opened and walked in looking for Christmas decorations. I saw this large pile of dishes and went straight to them. I was so excited I almost could not pick up all 52 pieces of this fabulous dinnerware. I loaded them into my buggy and quivering with excitement checked out.

The dishes are Poppytrail-Metlox made in Calif, and the pattern is California Strawberry!

I had to set a table with these lovlies and it was a perfect after Thanksgiving lets enjoy leftovers before Christmas tablescape.

The set has so many serving pieces and they are in fantastic shape!

Teapot, sugar and creamer. The strawberry's on top are just too cute.

This covered dish is one of my favorites!

Two oval platters and a small round serving plate were also included.

There were some plates and bowls missing, but I got a complete set of 4 place settings in addition to all the serving pieces. I looked on line and these were produced in 1961 by Metlox Potteries. The best part of all, the price. $29.99!! That's right! I looked at china replacements on line and one of the serving pieces would cost as much as my whole set.

This is one of the best deals I have ever found at a Thrift Shop. It was a Good Friday for me! I love these dishes and will use them year round. This is an early Christmas present to myself!

Thanks for stopping by to look at my fabulous find!
