Simplify #2

I got serious in the dish closet this week!
This is how it looked at the beginning of the week
I got busy and it is now like this!
This still looks like a lot of dishes but lots of spaces are now empty and dishes that were elsewhere are now on the shelves
This really makes me happy!

I was able to find homes for some of my stuff
All of this is going to a friend who has a vintage booth.
All of this was free for pick up and many of my friends took things.
This bin full of dishes and other glass items is going to the thrift shop this week!  I would call that a successful week!
I still have this shelf to go through.  The three teapots are for sale, but so far no takers.

I can't tell you how good this feels!  I'm trying to work one room at a time, but wanted to make a big dent in the dish closet this week...and I did!
Now I'm working on the shelves in the living room and the dish hutch in there.  Lots of glassware has already been donated but I want to do another round of purging.

One of the hardest things to edit are my 'collections'
Birds and Egg cups!
I started downsizing my egg cups.  I had even more then in this photo and I realized I didn't Love them all and they were crowded and not being enjoyed.  I gifted a few to friends and came down to these in the cubbies.
I mixed it with a few pieces of pottery that I love and now it's perfect.  I have a few more egg cups in the Paris cubbie and some blue and white on another shelf.  This way I can really enjoy them more.  The birds will be edited soon!

So that is my week 2 of project Simplify!
How did you do?

Wishing you JOY,

Hi Linda! Oh, everything looks so good and organized! I was going to do this too after Christmas but then I had to fall! ;) It does feel so rewarding to get organized! Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Linda, what a great decluttering and gifting you are doing. So glad you are sharing, you are providing motivation.

Gosh Linda i know from experience that was a big job - you did good!!!!

It does feel good to let go of things that we don't LOVE! I'm still working in the craft room and then I started the linen closet. I don't seem to stay focused on 1 project at a time! Hooray for you!

It's so hard to do that and I have to put things in a box or bag that I can't see inside or I will take things back out! haha! But keeping things we love is the key I think! Enjoy your week, Sis! Hugs, Diane

Do I see empty shelves? You did good, Linda, and I know it must feel so good too!

Good for you! I know it feels good to have some empty shelves! I am hoping to get to that point this year! I have done so good staying away from the thrift stores and I am trying to be more intentional in all my purchases. I'm also trying to use things up before replacing or buying candles, perfumes, hair products and so on. I am bad about wanting to buy "new" scents and so on before I use stuff up. Anywho, keep up the good work my friend!

Hugs, Vicky

Would you come do my dishes...I just can't make myself do it!!

I have just done some of that and had to pick and choose. I never saw so many egg cups before! It does take time to do thinning chores.

This is such a hard thing to do, Linda! You've done very well! I'm clearing through things, too, and have taken loads to Goodwill! -xoNellie

Wow, you really have been busy, Linda! I bet your home is feeling lighter already! I know just what you mean about it being hard to edit special collections. Just think of all of the people you've made happy, by sharing your treasures with them!!

Always a great feeling of achievement when tidying has been done! Love the egg cups.

You did a good job of editing and I like that you gave things away in addition to taking to a shop.

I love your egg cup collection.

I hope this month is going smoothly for you after the December you had.

I wish I had a dish closet! Do you know I gave away every one of my egg cups. Just so many little things that needed to be dusted.

If I had such a closet my darling daughter would want to go through it and throw out most of the stuff because she would think it was a waste of space and just clutter

Hooray, Linda, I am so proud of you! Your space looks nice and organized now. I know it's so hard to get rid of beloved items, but don't you feel a little "lighter" now?

Always nice to edit collections and share! I am doing that now, too!

Terrific progress Linda! Yes, collections are the hardest. I do sell some tablecloths but it is so difficult to decide which I will part with. I'm still cleaning out my craft space, and working on the storage room. Slow and steady wins the race, lol. Like how you are donating, giving to friends, and selling. :)

It is a wonderful feeling to sort all of that out isn't it? I bet you feel a lot lighter.
Good luck with the rest,

Wow, Linda, that is well done! Of course the hoarder/collected part of me thought 'more room for more bits and pieces!' when I saw your empty spaces!!
I thought of you this week, as I dusted my jug collection and took down the wee one you sent me, and washed it. That was so sweet of you!

Great job Linda! I haven't done too good this week. Monday being a holiday for my crowd got me behind. Hopefully next week I'll clear out some stuff! Happy Wednesday!

Ooooooooo, you are making progress, Linda! More than me. ha haha I started working in my home office, though. Figured at least 10 to 15 minutes at a crack should help. But trust me, I have a LONG way to go. I love so many collections. Isn't it terrible? ha! Have a good day. Susan

I know that this has been difficult but also very rewarding! I hope you are doing well, that you have managed to avoid sickness this winter. I am home from school today, we were supposed to get snow but al we have is ice. Probably will go to school tomorrow but i am organizing stuff for the booth that we have in our house. We have 2 booths now and are hoping for a 3rd. We have done very well and enjoy it so much!!!!I would be interested in any of your egg cups that you do not want, I have a friend who collects them and she has asked me several times if I ever see them to get them for her. Just let me know f you are interested in selling them.

I wish you would come to my house and make me get serious. I am terribly sentimental and have a hard time giving things away even though I know I should ;-( Love your egg cup collection!

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

Wow, I have not gotten as far as you have destashing my collections. Love the Roseville collection. I find January a great time to shop on eBay - sellers are willing to reduce bids.

Have a wonderful week. Hugs!
