K is for Keene

I think most of us have read Nancy Drew Mysteries!
They were my first mystery books and I loved them.  I could not wait to read more and more.  Mostly I checked them out of the library but my parents did buy me a few.
Over the years I acquired a few more until this was my collection!
Carolyn Keene is a pseudonym for the author of the Nancy Drew Mysteries and also the Dana Girls Mystery Series.  These were written by several authors including Mildred Wirt who wrote many of the first 23 books in the series.
I found some interesting history about the series here.

How many of you read Nancy Drew as a girl?

Joining Jenny at Alphabe-Thur
(I am so late with this post)

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

I can remember where they were in my library...in the front door, to the right and right again! heehee! I read so many of them...not sure how many. I didn't have any books growing up. Well, except one. (a big story book) But I could walk to the library from my house so I read all the time growing up. Love your neat collection. (I have a few too) Hugs, Diane

Linda, absolutely! My sister and I both read the series. I think she still has all our books. I need to ask her.
Thanks for sharing the link. Interesting.

Linda, I read all of the Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Cherry Ames Student Nurse (as well as the Bobbsey Twins). The local library had strict 'age' rules for the books and Cherry Ames was on that 'list'. I loved that little library, upstairs over a store, two rooms of books. Good memory.

Thanks for the memory jolt! Nancy Drew was my favorite, I think I have read every one of books at least twice. Nancy, Bess, George and Ned were always getting into mischief!

I can remember feeling SO grown up when I was able to start reading the Nancy Drew series. What fun adventures they had in those books! I always wanted to solve a mystery just like Nancy, but unfortunately the biggest mystery we had in our house was who was emptying the cookie jar.. (ME!)LOL

Oh, yes! My sister and I were big Nancy Drew fans. Years ago I found a special edition set and gave it to my sis for Christmas.

I'm so sick when I think my mother gave our set away. I've been collecting them in the new edition, but it's not the same as the well-worn ones I had:-D Lucky you!!

Summer was always spent going to the library and hauling home 3 Nancy Drews at a time...♪ http://lauriekazmierczak.com/the-knack/

Hi Linda...Oh, I LOVED Nancy Drew mystery books. There was one about a secret mansion, I think. Oh gosh. They kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved them. You have a really nice collection! Susan

Would you count Hardy Boys? I think I had them all. I know they were a common birthday and Christmas present for a while. Franklin W Dixon was the pen name for their authors and also for one other series, but I cannot remember which.

Both Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew are very good sellers at my booth.

Oh, Linda! How I loved reading the Nancy Drew books! I have a couple myself. Also loved Donna Parkers and The Hardy Boys! As a little girl I remember on the original Mickey Mouse Clubhouse there was a Hardy Boys serial. I think it was the Hardy Boys! OH, I love this stuff.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Great post! The summer after fourth grade, I discovered that my next-door neighbor, who was several years older, had ALL the Nancy Drews and was willing to let me borrow them. Heaven! I gobbled them up as fast as I could -- what a memorable summer!

When I saw the title of the Nancy Drew book, I thought how ironic that I just bought a craftsman bungalow. I couldn't resist... so, I ordered a used copy from Amazon.

I have heard of them often but never read any perhaps because I'm from the UK
