Thrifty Things Friday #149

Thanks for joining Diann and I for

I've had a virus all week and so instead of a new post I thought I would show you some of the dishes I've used in tablescapes and that have now been donated.
Re-thrifting is as important as thrifting!

The first set of dishes is on the chopping block, but are still here.  The restaurant ware and the lovely blue and white dishes were donated before I moved.
Some pretty plates in this group...all were donated except the solid green and black plates.
I find solid color plates to be the backbone of my tablescaping after the basic white plate of course!
The orange dishes, most of the Fiesta ware and the Halloween plates are all gone.  Often once they are used I just have to let them go.  The Fiesta was hard to part with, but it is so heavy and I had to downsize.  I still have 'some' Fiesta.
The cherry plates, green plates and white with the flowers are gone.  I still have the solid blue plates, the milk glass and the egg coddler.
The set of Federal Blue glassware was also donated.

I still have a closet full of dishes and glassware.  I'm still working on downsizing, but it's hard as many of you know.  I'm trying to do a tablescape and then donate plates that I don't think I will use again.  One of the hardest sets to donate were these fish plates
I loved these plates but didn't use them enough to keep them.

So what have you been up to this week?

Sharing The Collections!

Clutter and Collections seem to go together!
One of my goals this year is to figure out how to enjoy my collections without too much clutter! That means I am going to limit the collections, sad but true!

I love my orphan S&P collection, but I needed to edit it down to fit a smaller space.
Using this old soda crate, I added all the orphans that would fit into it.  This is in the kitchen on a bakers rack.
Keeping my favorite shakers that were larger I added them to a cubbie located on one of the kitchen counters.  It also holds some of my Waechtersbach mug collection.
A large group was donated and I still have a few I haven't decided if I will keep, sell or donate.
I love this collection and this way I can enjoy them everyday!

Another collection I enjoy
Creamers...This was last year before moving.
Many of these have already been donated as I edited my collection.  Today I worked on my remaining collection
Many of these are restaurant creamers and also some with green on them.
I have another collection of small creamers and need a good way to display them if I'm going to keep them all.
The ironstone and white pottery collection is coming along.
I will continue to tweak it until it is just how I want it.

The cubbies in St Pat's green last year
I'm trying to get the holiday collections to fit into one cubbie...
more green and not so much St Pats!
Its a change I'm feeling good about.

I still have collections to edit and figure out what I'm keeping and what I'm not.  I know it is still a lot of clutter for some, but for me it's downsizing.

I'm sharing this at

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Thrifty Things Friday #148

It's that time of the week when Diann and I invite you to share your thrifty posts with us at

This week I'm asking you what can 25 cents buy?

.25 bought me the little travel game for Tiger and a the small wooden box that I'll use for displays.  It also was what I paid for each of the paperback books!
This cute sleeping bag for Tiger was $3.50 which was a great deal, but not .25
I found these wood blocks at Target 90% off of $12.99 so I paid $1.29...not .25 but a big bargain.  I bought a few sets to paint with chalkboard paint and do some projects with.
I got BOTH of these items for a total of .25
This little mortar and pestle was a great find

Along with this adorable egg cup
It is Devon Blue Pottery made in England.
Ilfracombe is a seaside resort on the North Devon coast of England.  This pottery is well known and I believe they produce many items for tourists!
It's a great addition to my egg cup collection.

Thrifty Things Friday #147

Diann and I are so glad to see you this week for
After a snowy and icy week I'm ready for some fun!

I have two new additions to my egg cup collection I haven't shared with you yet.
This pretty blue and white egg cup is not marked but I love the design and color.

Now this is a great find...
This cute egg cup is marked Japan
Look at the tail...
It's the salt shaker!  How cute is that!
Both of these will be making their appearance soon when I decorate the cubbies with my egg cup collection.  I have missed them and think I'll bring them out after Valentine's day.
Both of these cups were found at thrift shops!

A Lotta Love!

How did it get to be February 10th already?
I finally got out a few Valentine decorations
One of the cubbies mostly in RED!
and one mostly in Pinks!
A couple of Valentines in cute little photo holders
A vintage valentine and a tag from a swap last year.
Of course a Red Eiffel Tower!
I love this sweet gift bag and I think I will frame it.
A vintage pink ring box and a big ole 'diamond'
Just a few little touches here and there for fun!

I got my new shelves in the house!
Love them!  Charlie photo bombing while he checks out this new addition to his home!
I can't wait to get them decorated...but
I have been unpacking some more boxes and just sitting things on the shelves until I decide what to do with them.  THIS IS NOT HOW I PLAN ON IT LOOKING!! :)
One shelf has some ironstone and some white pottery planters.
It needs tweaking but I do like these on the shelves.
This set of vintage dishes might be for sale, so I need to take photos to list them.
The desk will get organized also I promise.
Just wanted to keep it real around here.
I really do not want so much clutter but until I can decide what to keep and what to get rid of I have stuff everywhere!  I really am working on it.  I donated a huge load of pottery planters to the thrift store the other day.  It's a start!
My favorite heart, made for my by my Dad!

We are in for another snow and ice storm so I should have plenty of time to work on the house this week.  My daughter Ashleigh is coming for a visit on the 14th so I have to get the spare room ready for her.  Lot's to do!
