Charlie Visits The Vet

Charlie is 16 years old and I decided it was a good idea to have a complete checkup with blood work to check on his health.
Charlie was not impressed with the request to get in his travel tote.
I 'talked' him into it!
I found a great Vet at the Dog and Cat Clinic
Kasey Stopp, DVM is fantastic!
Charlie did NOT get a gold star, he was not a good patient!  The Vet and her assistant were so good with him, trying to calm him down.  He had vaccinations and blood taken.
He is in pretty good health but does have a few issues.  His Thyroid is sluggish and so he is on meds and we will recheck his levels in 4 weeks.  He has a slight heart murmur and his kidneys aren't working at 100%...both could be side effects of the Thyroid condition or old age.  She is hoping that he will improve with the meds, but if not we will continue to monitor him and see how he does.
I was most impressed with her compassion and friendly manner.  It is always wonderful to find a caring Vet for our fur babies.

This cutie had a spend the night with Grandma and we were having our 'coffee' together.  Tiger has his special mug he drinks out of when he is here.

My Mom turned 84 on Saturday and we had a family dinner.  It is so amazing that she is now living near me.  I am so happy and I think she is setteling into her new home and lifestyle OK.

So much to do this week but the sun is shining and all is well in my world!
Thanks for sharing it with me.

Joining Kathe @ You're Gonna Love It Tuesday

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Sounds like you've been taking good care of Charlie. He's made it to a ripe old age with nothing much wrong with him. And hopefully he has lots more to go.

Brenda said just what I was going to say. He is a result of good care and lots of love. Sending him a hug. I am off to the vet with Kane now. Hugs, Deb

So happy that Charlie checked out so well at the Vet, especially considering his age. It is so wonderful when we have a great Vet when we are concerned about our precious fur babies. This morning Lily's Vet called to check on her. She has been under constant care since July 22 when her heart disease was diagnosed. She is a 9 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and of course she is my Love Bug! So happy for you and Charlie.

Sounds like Charlie is in good hands both at home and at his vet's. He is one lucky guy to have a furbaby mama who takes such good care of him! Hoping the meds will make a difference for him! Happy birthday to your mom!...hugs...Debbie

It's always so stressful for them to go to the vet. Glad he got a pretty good report

I don't think Charlie is too impressed with his bandage!
I love the way Tiger is drinking with his pinky extended...he looks English!

Glad Charlie is doing well. How nice for Tiger to spend the night. Just got home from the coast and had the grands with us for the weekend. Great time but I am pooped!

Charlie is too cute! I had a cat that was 16 and she had some kidney issues, typical for cats of that age. Charlie sure looks healthy, hope all is well. I had to laugh...cats and a trip to the vet do not mix, do they? Mine meowed the whole time.

Tiger is pretty sweet too, but you know that, lol. Glad your Mom is settling in.

Well it is good that Charlie is pretty much in good health, at the age of 16 some health concerns are normal.

I'm sure he's forgiven you by now for taking him to the vet. Hopefully his new meds will keep him in good shape and he'll have many more years with you. What a cute coffee cup and Tiger looks so proud to have one to call his own.

You can hear our cat Azalee all the way outside when she has blood drawn - it takes three to do it. I am glad that Charlie is in good health for his age. Tiger is a cutie.

Charlie is so cute ... glad you are staying on top of his health issues.
Cannot believe how much Tiger has grown. He is one handsome boy and seems so grown up for his age.

Sounds like Charlie is a healthy boy for a kitty of his age. It's such a blessing to have a vet you trust to help you care for him. Tiger is a love, of course ... please pass along birthday wishes for you mom from me.

Happy Birthday to you Mom. Tiger is so adorable drinking from that mug. I bet you had a great time together. Take good care of your kitten, she may be 16 but looks so good. Glad you are on tp of things for her.

Hi Linda. Catching up on blogs. Happy (belated) birthday to your sweet Mom.

Glad you are monitoring Charlie. Honey Cat had the thyroid stuff going on, too. The last year of her life she was not herself at all----was still brave, though-----but eventually the bad health caught up with her.

I still miss her with all my heart.

But I'm so glad you still have Charlie.

Tiger is a darling doll. Susan

Charlie has a few good years left in him yet! My old cat is 26 and I keep saying he is on his way out but he hangs in there and even catches the odd mouse.

Aw...Charlie get well soon buddy! LInda, what do you fed him? I am always worried I give my pets the wrong choices. Someday I will send private e mail and tell you the tale of Rose, that lil girl gave us a scare. The vet bill scared us nearly to death! LOL but we did what we had to do! We had to go to the emergency clinic with her and they were wonderful but the new vet we have is good as gold too! They crawled on the floor for 45 minutes with Stella, Jeremy's rescue girl, in order to earn that doggies trust. The compassion was amazing! I am not sure I know any cat that makes a good patient! Rose was mad as heck when she got home! Her front legs had to be shaved to run IVS etc. She looks so cute though like she has ruffled pantaloons on! She isn't impressed! HaHaHa! I said to Nick, "Remember that pact you and I made regarding Rose (he had been with me when Boots passed away)? Welll.......you better start getting straight A's cause you are gonna need a million bucks to repay uor kindness to Rose! She had a UTI! Darn it! These pets are P H A M I L Y too! Had to do what we can to keep them well. God Bless Charlie. He is a beautiful fellow. Hugs, Anne
