'The Island' and other happenings!

I finished reading 'The Island' by Elin Hilderbrand right before leaving on my vacation.

I enjoyed this book set on Tuckernuk Island off the coast of Nantucket.  It is not my favorite book by this author but still an enjoyable read.  I like the sister relationship (two generations) and the island is an interesting location, primitive and isolated.  As Elin Hildebrand does so well, it's told from the perspective of many characters and it does move the plot along pretty well albeit sometimes a little slowly.  I would recommend this book to fans of this author and those who like 'relationship' stories.

I am in Cali and my daughter had her wisdom teeth out yesterday.  It was a hard day but she is doing much better today.  The weather is gorgeous here but they are in the middle of a drought and need rain so badly.  I arrived Tuesday evening and guess what???  My luggage didn't make the transfer of planes with me in LA.  I had to laugh (for those of you who don't know my luggage was lost going and returning from Paris last year).  I must say that SouthWest was very helpful and called me that night that it was at the airport and could be delivered the next day or I could pick it up and they would give me a $50 voucher.  Ashleigh lives close to the airport so we picked it up.  Not much else going on right now.   Just enjoying time with my girl!

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

So glad you got your luggage. Better late than never!

I've not read any of that author's books, though I think my sister has. I'll have to check her out, Linda.

I'm glad to hear that Ashleigh is feeling a bit better today, must be because of the great care she's getting. Oh no, not another round of lost luggage. I think you might have to start mailing your luggage to your destination, lol.

Your luck with luggage is not the best...lol! I don't think I've read anything by this author, but I have heard of her. Sounds like a good read! I need to start another book...I've read a few this summer and enjoyed it so much. I don't read a lot during the school year, but I am going to try to change that this year. I'm happy to hear your daughter's oral surgery went well and she is on the mend. Enjoy your mother daughter time! I'm going to Tally to visit my girl next weekend and can't wait.

Blessings, Vicky

Good heavens, Linda..you are not all that far from me. Southwest is a nice airlines to travel on. I used to get a kick out of the crew..they were always so funny..and when we would land the pilot would call out.."Whoaaaa Nelly!" Made me laugh.
They would also sing "So long it's been good to know you when we left the plane. LOL..still makes me laugh to remember.
We actully got RAIN tonight! Did you get any?? It went on for a good half hour! Now we are on a flash flood watch! Good grief!
:)
They have brought luggage right to the home..did they deliver yours??
Have a wonderful time.

Know your daughter is thrilled to have you with her and helping her out!! Flying just isn't what it use to be!! Glad that your luggage arrived in a timely manner. Weren't you a while without your luggage in France? Take care Linda and have fun!!!

I love your, "oh well" attitude about the luggage.

I don't know if it rained where you are last night, but it poured all night here. It was wonderful to have rain after months of no rain in this drought.

Hope your daughter is well.
