Sharing The Collections!

Clutter and Collections seem to go together!
One of my goals this year is to figure out how to enjoy my collections without too much clutter! That means I am going to limit the collections, sad but true!

I love my orphan S&P collection, but I needed to edit it down to fit a smaller space.
Using this old soda crate, I added all the orphans that would fit into it.  This is in the kitchen on a bakers rack.
Keeping my favorite shakers that were larger I added them to a cubbie located on one of the kitchen counters.  It also holds some of my Waechtersbach mug collection.
A large group was donated and I still have a few I haven't decided if I will keep, sell or donate.
I love this collection and this way I can enjoy them everyday!

Another collection I enjoy
Creamers...This was last year before moving.
Many of these have already been donated as I edited my collection.  Today I worked on my remaining collection
Many of these are restaurant creamers and also some with green on them.
I have another collection of small creamers and need a good way to display them if I'm going to keep them all.
The ironstone and white pottery collection is coming along.
I will continue to tweak it until it is just how I want it.

The cubbies in St Pat's green last year
I'm trying to get the holiday collections to fit into one cubbie...
more green and not so much St Pats!
Its a change I'm feeling good about.

I still have collections to edit and figure out what I'm keeping and what I'm not.  I know it is still a lot of clutter for some, but for me it's downsizing.

I'm sharing this at
and

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Hey girl - I remember from the past some of your cubbies and I know you love them all! I am also learning how to downsize like you did. Doesn't it feel good once you start though? I am feeling better - lighter - like the house isn't ready to pop. I think you would be surprised.
Anyway I love your cubbies and you are getting ready for St. Pat's!

I think they really look nice grouped together and changed for the seasons or holidays. You have the knack for making things look good with the way you arrange them! Sweet hugs Sis!

Linda, I hope you don't get rid of your cubbies. Love the cola crate too. Clever way to display a collection, and the white ironstone group is awesome.

I'm doing the same, Linda. It's not easy but feels so good when you finally do it. Keeping only the most 'loved' things makes you feel lighter and happier. Have fun. Deb

I have given away a lot of stuff too, every time a new occasion comes up and the bin comes out, something goes. It does make you feel good!

It is so hard to whittle down our collections when we love them so much. I just sell things off and then forget about them. I definitely hate getting rid of ironstone, though. xo Laura

Hi Linda....Well, the collections you showed in your post look nice and neat and organized.

I know what you mean about "editing." Need to do some of that myself. Susan

Linda,I'm just doing the exact same thing at the moment. If we like to collect then we have to cull too,I think. You have some nice collections there. I am visiting from Kathe With an E

You have such cute little collections! I really like the restaurant creamers. We have been thrifting some for the booth. I am moving to a bigger booth this weekend, it is twice the size of our existing booth. I hope it is a good idea. Have a wonderful week!

It is difficult at times but, it sure feels good and nice lightening of the stress of it all. Good job girl!

I like the idea of the cubbies. For creamers, I like them hanging on hooks so they are easy to get at and use.

Looks good Linda, I'm sure you'll get it to where you want it and just keep what you love:@)

But, it's so hard to pare down those collections. I bet the thrift store loves you though with all your donations!

The "orphans" look great in that soda crate. I agree about limiting-- you gotta have room to breathe, right?

Linda, the package arrived yesterday. Thank you so much for the lovely apron, tea and note cards. I haven't reached a point yet where I am editing my collections. Although I know I should. I could select by color, shape or type of design. Good luck. Have you hugged a tiger today?

Linda, I downsized a couple years ago when we moved across country. I still have a few things but, have found that I like it better with less. And, I am always changing my mind as to what I want to collect. Right now I am in to birds .... Love all your collections they are so lovely... Cathy

love the cubbies . . . love the collections . . . love the orphans.

I had some single salt or pepper shakers, but didn't think to keep them as orphans.

It must be hard deciding which ones to keep and which ones to pass along; they're all so cute. I love your ironstone and white collection.

Oh, I can imagine how hard to go through all of your pretties and decide which ones to keep. I love them all!
Be a sweetie,

I know exactly what you are talking about! Editing collections is a necessary part of collecting ... otherwise it's hoarding, not collecting.

I think more people should use soda crates to corral their stuff. They have vintage character and the things in them look organized and styled without much effort. I use one to hold my spices in the kitchen.

What wonderful little collections! I especially enjoyed seeing your creamers. I have several of the little creamers that were part of my Great Grandmothers collection. (she divided them between all of her greats.) I know it must be hard to choose what to keep and what to donate.

I admire you for doing it, but it has got to be hard!
