Thrifty Things Friday #137

It's that great day of the week when we share all our thrifty finds, ideas and recipes!
Diann and I both hope you had a great Thanksgiving and
we are glad you are back to join us this week!

My thrifty finds this week!
We are big readers at my house and you can never start too soon.  Tiger has had books since birth and is read to everyday.  We have been collecting a few Christmas books to read during this month of December but still only had a few.
I went to a thrift store on Tue and hit the jackpot!
From the 'ABC's of Christmas' to 'The Santa Claus Book' none of these books was more then .79 with many costing .25 and .15 each!
Several books about the real Christmas story and song book so we can sing Christmas carols together!  The Nutcracker Ballet will be read to him as he listens to the music.  Tiger is soaking in all that is Christmas this year!

Do you remember my little elf shoe planter I found?
Mine was minus the Elf!  So I added my own Elf that I found for .25
I like my Elf better if truth be told!

So join Diann and I and share you thrifty posts

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

I need to hit the thrifts and start collecting books for Peanut & Sweet Pea (temporary nickname until we know what sex the new grand is). I know Peanut loves books and mom & dad read to him everyday too :-) I love your elf better too!

I love your elf, and I also love your header! Looks great, Linda!

I read a study about the importance of reading aloud to children, and there is empirical research backing it up. I bet Tiger turns out super smart/accomplished because of it!

I like your little elf and I think that I had one of those books long ago...the one with the little cat on it.

My little grandson loves to read with me too. We have a nice collection here, and many more have gone home with him to his moms or dads. This summer I got some library books and we read them and the following week was he ever ticked off that I took HIS books back to the 'store'. He told me not to sell HIS books at the 'libary' any more !! :)

Your elf in the shoe is just adorable! I'm always amazed at how many children's books I see for similar prices. Children need more books and less TV, IMHO, LOL! Sharing at TTF too.

Those Christmas books were such a wonderful find. I always love the graphics in the older books. I know you and Tiger will enjoy reading them together. Love your little elf, and I agree, it's better than the original. laurie

I read to my kids every day too when they were younger but I especially loved reading them Christmas books since we only got to enjoy the stories once a year. Looks like you hit the jackpot for sure!

I actually have the little pixie and shoe planter but I kind of am liking your homemade creation a little better :-)

You have some great finds this week. I just don't get to the thrift stores that often and rarely ever see a yard sale.

I love books! I especially love CHEAP books. If you saw my house, you'd know what I mean. I need to do a bit of culling, but that's for another day. Thanks for hosting TTF.

That's a great haul of Christmas books that you got for Tiger! I read to both my boys too, from when they were newborns. It is so good for children to hear the spoken word from a loved ones voice...to hear stories and the flow and cadence of words. Makes them so smart and gives them a love of reading! Love the elf you found for the planter - perfect!
