J'adore Paris

Paris
If you are a regular reader here at
A La Carte
Then you know that my oldest daughter gifted me a trip to Paris.  I've decided that 2013 is the year I will go!!   I am so excited as I start to plan this trip!
I have started this year with a new favorite thing!
This amazing sign was made by my good friend and fellow blogger Jenny Matlock!
She has a great Etsy shop
Where she makes great signs.  You can buy from her samples or she will do a made to order as she did for me! I asked her to make me a Paris sign and requested pale pink and black, after a few emails back and forth she had it!
It came out better then I could have dreamed!
I love it.  Pale pink with a charcoal Paris and an Eiffel Tower....Perfect!
This is going to hang over my bed as I dream about my trip to Paris!
 Thank you Jenny!

As I make plans I will be sharing some of that here on my blog.
This is a trip of a lifetime!

I was in Target the other day and saw this....
Isn't it just too cute!  In the dollar spot at Target, of course I got one for me...but I also got one for you!  Well one of you!
I will be adding little items to it monthly as we lead up to the trip.  I'll do a giveaway before I go and one lucky reader will get the bag and contents AND I will buy them something in Paris!

Paris Update~January
My cousin was planning to be my travel partner on my trip, but unfortunately it's not to be.  A few weeks before Christmas she went to the Dr about a persistent cough.  While there he realized she had Afib and Immediately sent her to the hospital emergency room.  She ended up spending almost 4 weeks in the hospital and there were some touch and go moments.  She is home now but wearing what they call a 'life vest' that monitors her heart.  She cannot drive yet and since this appears to be a long term problem has reluctantly decided she cannot go on this trip.  I will miss her company but have decided I will continue my plans to make this trip in September!
My first big decision will be where to stay.  I am looking at staying in a studio apt so I can have a small kitchen.  I will be staying at least 10 days so this seems a good idea.  Anyone who has been to Paris and has recommendations please share with me.  I am open to all suggestions!

I'm joining these parties

Wising You JOY,

Linda

Congratulations!! You'll love it. I lived in Versailles for four years and then the west coast of another four years. All of my husband's family live in France. Please feel free to pick my brain about neighborhoods, museums, cultural issues, anything!! My in-laws have a cute one bedroom in Montparnasse. It just sits there empty, but they have never rented it out. I wish I could just send you the keys!!! I can't wait to hear all about your plans!!!

I hope you enjoy your trip. I was there many years ago and was not so impressed. Things are very expensive and found the people rude.

Sorry to hear about your cousin's health issue. You should definitely continue with your plans, even if you make this trip solo. It will be amazing. I'm working on my list of recommendations for you.
I'm stopping by Target tomorrow to see if they have more of those darling bags. ;-)

Very cool Paris sign. I have never been to Paris or Europe or the Eastern Hemisphere. If I was to travel though, I would pick England, Italy and France.

I've stayed in rented apartments three times and it was great. Loved shopping in the little markets. My favorite was the Marais. I've also liked staying in hotels and meeting folks at breakfast. What a wonderful trip to plan for. Can't wait to follow all of your plans.
P.S. I'm your newest follower, stopping by from Beverly's Pink Saturday.

It's too bad about your cousin. I wish I could be your travel companion, lol!.

As you know, I had high expectations about Paris and it more than surpassed every single one of them. I just want to go back again and again!

I highly recommend the following book:
http://www.amazon.ca/Eyewitness-Travel-Guides-Dorling-Kindersley/dp/0756684099/ref=pd_sim_b_4

We took it everywhere. It's chockfull of vital information and maps.

Just watch out for pickpockets, lol!

Love your frenchy finds, Linda! So glad you are having this chance to go, but sorry to know that your cousin can't join you. I think I have already sent you my Paris plans...let me know if I haven't. An apt is a good idea since eating out is so expensive there! Try to find one in the 7th arrondisement...my favorite...near the Eiffel Tower! :-) Hugs...Debbie

Linda, what a coincidence...I am going to Paris this year too! I'm planning on September to go with friends and can't wait. This trip has been on my Bucket List for some time and I had hoped that my daughter, Erin could go with me, but they are adopting another little girl from China (yeah, another Grand!!) and won't be able to.
I have been reading a book "Paris Bon Appetit--Shops~Bistros~Restaurants" and can't wait to explore! Maybe, we'll run in to each other, XOXO

Love that sign! We've two daughters who have been to Paris a number of years ago, perhaps in August of 1996. Then one of them returned to France in 2002 with her husband and they drove around the countryside. I send along good health wishes to your cousin! xo Nellie
