Gratitude Sunday #3

Welcome back to Gratitude Sunday

Thank you all for joining in!

This week I am so grateful that we still have our sweet kitty boy, Mr Toes!
Mr Toes found us last summer and as we fed him and came to love him we decided he had found his forever home.  After being neutered we tried keeping him inside but he is very rambunctious young guy and so we started letting him go out during the day.  He is always home and inside before dark.
Yesterday when Mr ALC went to get him in he was on the screened porch.  He came in and was acting funny.  He hid under my bed.  He let us pet him but did not want to move.  Even worse he vomited several times during the evening.  He would not eat or drink.  We knew something was wrong.
First thing this morning Mr ALC took him to the Vet...thank goodness we did
The vet found a wound and shaved the area to find this....someone shot Toesie!
An XRay showed this
A pellet!  Someone shot my sweet kitty with a pellet gun.  They did more tests and felt like he was OK, no internal bleeding and it looked like it missed the organs but he does have a sore rib.  At this time they aren't going to remove it.
Several shots later (antibiotics and pain) he came home and is resting!
Toesie is a very sweet cat and we can't believe someone shot him with a pellet gun.  He will no longer be an inside/outside cat.  He will have to just be happy with the screened porch.  As the vet said, 'he dodged a bullet' literally!
I am so Grateful for my sweet Mr Toes!

and before I forget....

wow he looks so much like my tina, How sad people are mean like that...Tina does go outside but she is older now and cannot get out of the yard, she just hangs out on the deck and the walls keep her in and safe from rotten things happening...so happy you got your baby back...

Oh Linda, I am so GLAD your sweet kitty is okay. Surely that was an act of evil and meanness. How can anyone hurt an innocent animal? Terrible!

But most important is that he's going to be okay. Thanks to the Lord for that.

Take care and have a lovely Sunday. Susan

Poor Mr. Toes. I am glad he is OK and resting. What a terrible thing to do, shooting pellets at animals. Lots of crazies out in the world. :( xo

Linda that is just plain WRONG!

Linda- That is TERRIBLE!!What is wrong with this world?? Shooting a neighbor's cat - any animal for that fact - needlessly! Exactly what Chatty said - WRONG - so very WRONG!! I'm glad that the vet found out what happened and he's being treated!

Oh Linda - your poor kitty. It just makes me sick. I have a male cat (neutered too) and I can't keep him in. He doesn't get out for long each day but I hope he never runs into an evil person like Mr. Toes did. Thank God you got him to the vet in time. I hope you reported this to the police and mentioned it to your neighbours in case anyone has any info to help find the criminal. j

Mr. Toes is a lucky boy to be recovering, and he is a handsome guy too.

Oh dear. It sounds like you have a neighbour who does not like cats on their property or a kid that likes to bully animals. I would surely keep him in too, Linda. That is quite upsetting. Hope he feels better soon.

Oh poor Mr. Toes! Thank goodness it wasn't worse. Oh people make me angry sometimes! Hugs to you and to your precious kitty!

I am so glad to know that your darling baby is okay! How horrible for you all. I will never, ever understand how some people can be so cruel to animals.

Big Hugs,

poor Mr Toes. It's sad how some people will treat an animal. I'm glad he's going to be ok.

Oh Linda! This makes me so mad. I am so sorry to hear your poor kitty had to go through this. I worry about this kinda thing as well since I too have outdoor kitties. I hope he will be feeling well soon!

That is terrible. I've had that happen years ago...kids admitted they were just playing around. I wonder where those 'kids' are today. Glad your kitty is OK! Happy Sunday!

Oh my gosh Linda that is just cruel! Poor poor kitty. Our own Baby has a broken canine tooth. We took her to the vet and he gave us antibiotics and Tylenol for her until her appt. at the Vet Dentist. I hope Baby and Mr. Toes are not in too much pain. Our poor fur babies. Take sweet care of that sweet Mr. Toes! Hugs, Ames

Oh Linda, how sad for your kitty. How ignorant and heartless must a person be to do that. I'm so glad it turned out ok. Your really do have something to be grateful for today. Mr. Toes is beautiful.

Lucky Mr Toes to have such a loving family and a good vet and very sorry that he was hit by a pellet. Poor little dear.

I am grateful that I have time to work on projects.

I cannot believe someone would shoot a helpless kitty - do you think it was a kid with a BB gun? I hope Toes is all better very soon, sending my love to him. Thanks for hostessing the party, I'm taking forever (with these computer issues) to link to parties and then to get things working enough to link back on my blog. But I'm finally up to date for your party. Mary

Oh no! Who could do such a thing? I'm so happy you noticed right away and got him to the vet in time. He's such a sweetie and I'm sure he'll make a full recovery with all the love he has.

He looks so much like my Boots! Why someone wants to harm an innocent pet is beyond my comprehension! Glad he is resting and getting better each day!

It is a Sunday of Gratitude that Mr. Toes was not harmed more. Thank you for sharing.

Oh my word! I'm so glad you are going to make him an indoor cat from now on! Whoever did that should be in jail. That's terrible.

Now Mr. Toe's nose will be out of joint for a while, but you're the boss. It's not safe for him out there.

I'm glad he's ok!

Oh, Linda! I'm so sorry to hear this. How could anyone shoot a helpless little kitty? That just makes me mad. I pray Mr. Toes recovers. I know you must have been torn up about this. Mr. Toes is such a pretty little cat and I don't blame you, window watching for him now.
Thank you so much for drawing my name. I'm so excited and just sent you my address.
You're the best sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Dollars to doughnuts it was an adult who doesn't like cats pooping in their garden. If all the cats are kept indoors, I wonder how those same people will feel about the rodents that will be out of control. Luckily, my village is country enough that the neighbours see cats, feral and pets, as working animals. Poor kitty!

Some people are so cruel to the most innocent among us -- children and animals. I'm so glad Mr. Toes is on the mend, and I'm sure he'll appreciate his new daytime home on the porch!

Jane and Chris said...

Please give Mr Toes lots of healing purrs from my boys and girls. All ours are indoor cats, they are perfectly fine indoors,as long as they are played with. It's not safe for ours to be outdoors....and it's not safe for little critters like birds for our cats to be outside.

Awww! That is just so wrong. :( I sure hope he continues to heal.

Linda, This is terrible. I rescued a dog that was used for target practice, and was tethered with a barbed wire collar. Mr. Toes will survive, but I hope his tormenter comes under fire himself.

Oh MY GOSH I would murder someone who hurt my at. OK, maybe not, but I would be hysterically furious. Poor baby. I'm sooooooooooooo thankful he is ok. Bless his heart. I bet it was a kid. Kids shoot pellet guns. Well anyway, Praise the Lord, he is alive to bring you many years of joy still.

What the heck is a matter with people?!?! We too are VERY grateful that Mr. Toes is going to be okay. Just makes my fur stand on end to think of someone being mean to him or any animal. Grrrr..... Glad you have a screened in porch. We had one added a few years ago and it's been a wonderful thing for me, being the outdoorsy type myself.

Sending you healing purrs,

Romeo

It is just unbelievable that someone would shoot a helpless animal, especially knowing it was someone's pet. I'm happy that Mr. Toes is resting comfortably...Rosie sends her best, and he's now going to be an inside/screened porch cat! XOXO
