Pink & Blue For You!

Since I am still at my Mom's house in Houston and away from all my tablescaping goodies I decided this week to share a table I set last June with you!
My Mom is improving every day and I'm hoping to be back home in Ga in a few weeks!

I am a thrifty junker!  I love to set a pretty table also but don't want to spend a lot.  Most of my tables are bits and pieces picked up in thrift shops, yard sales and deeply clearanced retail items.

Summer morning breakfast for two!
Inspired by the denim table runner embroidered with dragonflies.  I found it  1/2 price in a Texas thrift store last year and it was .50
I used white place mats ($1 ea at dollar tree) and added the pretty blue Fiesta plates that were .75 ea at Goodwill
The clear candlewick plates were a huge bargain at $1 ea at a little thrift shop we found last year on a trip to the Mountains.  The flatware is some I've had forever.
I choose the pretty napkins .25 ea to add some pink to the tablescape and used pink bird napkin rings bought last year on clearance at Hobby Lobby 4/$1
We Southerners love our Grits so I added this pink Hall ramekin $1 ea
This butterfly plate was .25 at a yard sale and adds another touch of pink.  The tomato server was a giveaway I won.
Breakfast tea served in this Fiesta teapot
(the most expensive thing on this table at $10)
along with a vintage pink sugar & creamer that cost $1 each
I used pink teacups and Boopie juice glasses that cost .49 ea

So that's my thrifty tablescape.  My grand total was $22.25 with $10 of that being for the Fiesta Teapot

Weekend Fun With Tiger

While I'm here in Texas I am (of course) missing my sweet baby Tiger!  This weekend my girls, SIL and Grand are in South GA celebrating with family!
Here are some fun photos of Tiger that they have shared with me!
Tiger enjoys 'drawing' with crayons if we can keep them out of his mouth!
The drive south gives Tiger time for a nap!
Pool time with cousin Aria in her cute pink tutu!
Waving?
Summer fun....South Georgia Style!

Wishing you a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

I'm joining Seasonal Sundays!

Holiday Thrifting

On my last large thrifting/Estate sale outings I scored some items for several holidays and seasons!

St. Patrick's Day
The little bell (.50) will go in the cubbies and the cute shamrock tealight(.39) can always be used!

Easter
These items were found at a yard sale
The cute bunny box will look great with my rabbit collection (.25) and the great glass eggs were in a box with lots and lots of goodies that I only paid $2 for

Halloween/Fall
At an Estate sale I picked up and put down this grapevine pumpkin several times, but finally paid the $3 and I'm soooo glad I did!  The orange planter (.60) looks great with it!

Christmas
I have so many Christmas decorations that I only buy something if it REALLY speaks to me and all of the above did!
The two ceramic elves were at a thrift shop and I fell in love with them, $3 for the pair I had to get them!  The little ceramic deer was .99 and the Penguin tealight holder was .50
But the knee-hugger elf for .25 was my best find!

It pays to shop out of season for Holidy items!

My Amazing Daughter Ashleigh!

My oldest daughter is 33 today!
Happy Birthday to my Amazing Ashleigh!
I am blessed to have spent several days with her in Las Vegas for
Mother's Day weekend
We stayed three nights at the Mirage
This was my first visit to Las Vegas
It is an amazing place!
Our first day we took a sightseeing stroll down Vegas Blvd!  I loved it, hot but not too hot! Glad we went in May.  We stopped at the Bellagio fountains...they are truly amazing!  One of my favorite things in Vegas for sure.
The Botanical Gardens in the Conservatory of the Bellagio were gorgeous!  I showed you a few photos already but here are some more!
Amazing colors and the fragrance was lovely!
The glass roof in the conservatory...love these hanging umbrellas!
Everywhere you looked there was something amazing to see!
I love carousels and this was so charming!
Sadly no rides allowed!
I could not stop taking photos!
Ashleigh also took me to an exhibit at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art....Claude Monet!  It was awesome and we both enjoyed seeing these amazing works of art!
No visit to the Bellagio is complete without a stop in their lobby to see the amazing chandelier called Fiori di Como by the glass sculptor Dale Chihuly
This stunning piece is composed of 2000 hand blown blossoms.  I have been lucky to see some of his work before, but this one was magnificent!
(are you tired yet?)

Our next stop was the Paris Hotel
A trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower replica was so much fun!!  It is done to 1/2 scale using the original plans.  The view is awesome!
Ashleigh said we would come back at night to see the view with all the lights!
I was enjoying this so much and kept saying  "Probably the closest I will ever get to Paris and the Eiffel tower!"
The next few days include sitting by the pool, spa day with massage, manicure & pedicure and a couple of great shows, including a
Tribute to Frank Sinatra by Clint Holmes
With Vincent Falcone conducting the Vincent Falcone Orchestra.  It wasn't an impersonation but a tribute...same arrangements the Frank did with the same conductor.  It was awesome!

Ashleigh told me we were changing hotels on Sunday (Mother's Day) but she surprised me by taking me too....
The Paris Las Vegas Hotel
I was so excited!  Loved it!  Our room was awesome and had an incredible view!
After some shopping and a nap, Ashleigh said we were going to the Eiffel Tower to see the lights!
She got us express passes so we didn't have to wait in line...she is so thoughtful!
Photo from the hotel as you wait for the elevator!
We were just in time for the amazing show from the Bellago fountains...Viva Las Vegas was the song and it was so much fun!  We then moved around to the other side so I could take some photos of the strip!
After taking this photo Ashleigh and I just stood there looking at the lights.  I told her this was such a beautiful view.  She put her arm around me and said, "you will have to tell me how it compares with the real thing" and handed me an envelope!
I must admit it took me a few seconds to realize that my wonderful daughter was giving me a trip to Paris, France!  I cried and was speechless.  This has been at the top of my dream list/bucket list since I was a teenager and I had pretty much decided it wasn't going to happen.  But dreams can come true and thanks to Ashleigh this one will!
I am still stunned in this photo!
She had also arranged for us to toast this great day with champagne!  I think this was the biggest (and in my opinion best) surprise she has ever pulled off!  Ash does love to surprise us and does it well but this was above and beyond!
A girl named Amanda took this photo with her camera and emailed it too me!  That was so sweet of her!  I kept saying it was the BEST Mother's Day ever!
We went back to our room and had room service dinner with this amazing view!
Truly a Mother's Day I will never forget!

I will plan my trip to Paris after things are settled with Mom, maybe in the spring!

So my friends if you've stuck with me here to the end of this saga, thank you!
I am truly blessed to have the most loving and wonderful daughters in the world.  Ashleigh thank you for giving me a chance to fulfill another dream!  Being a Mother was my first dream and you being the oldest made that also come true!
I hope you have had a wonderful birthday my dear daughter, I wish I could have spent it with you!

Thankful!

Today on Pink Saturday I am so Thankful!
For Family and Friends
For Wonderful Medical Care
For My Mom
For a Loving God!

I am staying in Houston with my Mom until she is able to drive and be alone again.  We go back to her Cardiologist June 12th.  Until then I am making sure that she rests, doesn't move too fast and lets that pacemaker incision heal.  I am so thankful she is doing well.  The Dr's are all amazed at how she has bounced back!
She is a very Strong Woman!
We will be making some changes in her living arrangements in the near future...I am hoping to move her closer to me in Georgia!

The flower photos were taken at the Conservatory at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.
More about my Vegas trip soon!

Let's Dish ~ 5-16-12

I'm joining Cuisine Kathleen for our weekly
Let's Dish Party!

While I'm out shopping I find items that are related and a tablescape starts to take shape.  When I was in Miss visiting my friend Sherry at Back 2 Vintage, we went to several Estate Sales, Yard Sales and her Booth in an Antique Mall
These items sorta jumped into my hands and are the makings of a future tablescape
Clear glass apple dishes!

I was in line to check out at the first Estate Sale when I spied this divided Apple dish for $1 so I picked it up
The next Estate sale had the two larger apple bowls for .50 each...I was on a roll
I found the small apple dish in a thrift shop on the way home for .69

After buying the apple dishes, Sherry tells me she has a snack set for sale...yep in the apple shape
I got 4 plates and cups for a bargain price!

So sometimes my friends, a tablescape finds you!

I promise to show it too you soon!  I am still looking for other 'apple' items...or are they looking for me??

Please stop by Kathleen Cuisine for
Let's Dish!

**I am in Houston with my Mom and she is doing great!  I will have a new post with more info soon! Thank you for all your prayers and good wishes**

Hugs,
Linda
