A Favorite Thing~Blue Decanter

This week I'm sharing one of my treasures.   It's not a childhood item or a family item but one that I have had for almost 40 years
This amazing hand blow blue decanter!
Here is it's story...
Back in the early 1970's I lived on Cape Cod.  A boyfriend and I were helping clean out an apartment after a friend had moved out.  This blue decanter was left there with ugly dried weeds in it.   The boyfriend found it first and said 'oh I'm keeping this'.  I fell in love with it at first sight and told him I really really wanted it.
The boyfriend said I think it's old
and I really like it!
I said I love it!!
Of course he teased me awhile but finally said I could have it but I had to promise not to sell it or get rid of it ever!  The boyfriend is long gone but the lovely blue decanter remains one of my favorite things!
For many years I had no information about this decanter.  I 'think' it is an old piece of Blenko glass.  All I know is...I love it!
I am really excited about this new party at Mockingbird Hill Cottage!
Each Saturday we show a 'favorite thing' and tell it's story!  This is only the second party so I hope you will pop over and visit Claudia and join in all the fun!

Hugs,

Linda

Linda I love your new fall header. I have never seen one of the heirloom blue pumpkins in person, only photos.

Love your blue decanter. I have some favorites too that I could never get rid of.

Goodness, it's beautiful, Linda! That shade of blue is so lovely. No wonder you had to have it. (Glad you won out in the fight over who was the rightful owner!)

Any you did keep your promise to him.

Thanks so much for joining in!

I love the decanter! Such a pretty blue, and the story behind it is fun, too. The link party idea sounds like fun, too. Unfortunately we are at the lake watching it storm, so I can't participate this week *sadface*

Oh my gosh ... I love this! And I love the history of it. The color is just magnificent.

I find things with a history (aka used) are so much more interesting than any new thing, don't you?

Visiting from MHC party.

I love your header too - all the fall colors.

And I love the blue glass - you know a girl loves her diamonds- they are a girl's best friend.

Cute story, Linda. I think I may have it's twin ~ a wedding gift in 1975. ;-)
We still have our piece and I use it for serving water, though sometimes it holds flowers.
Off to visit the new linky party.......Sarah

That must look gorgeous when the sun hits. Almost like a sun-catcher. I'm glad you won out..a guy would just lose it or trade it for a beer.

Oh what fun!!!! Love that you still have it after all these years!!! Tell Charlie to bring it to the purrty and I'll fill it up with cat snacks and catnip ;) He might not remember a single dancing cat, but he can be assured of a very good time ;)

Purrs!

It looks like Blenko to me - gorgeous! If I had to choose between an old boyfriend and that piece of glass, I'd definitely be the proud owner of the glass!
