The economy has really touched me here at A La Carte.  I am thrifting less and being much more careful in my purchases.  Until I can sell more of my inventory I will not be buying for my Etsy store.  So all my purchases will be for my use or for gifts.  I have already started my Christmas shopping!
I found these items at my local thrift on half price day
This Hallmark ornament was in the box and so cute.  Santa with a cookie and cocoa will go on my Kitchen tree this year.  The half price amount...$1
This snowman still had his Kohl's tag on him.  This can be used for a photo or favorite Christmas card display.
For only 50 cents I had to get it!

Recently I shared that I had been going to the library more and more as even thrift books can add up.  My Library has a books for sale section, where older books and donated books are sold.  I found these amazing children's books for Tiger....
Penguin Pete is a cute story
Pooh's Colorful Garden is so bright
I paid 25 cents each for these books.  Be sure to check out the sale book section of your library.
Tiger and I have already read this book and he was very interested in the bright colors.
I'm getting some much needed hugs and Tiger kisses tonight.

I'm joining Diann at The Thrifty Groove
for her Thrifty Things Friday party.
Head on over and check out all the ideas for saving money!

Your little Santa ornament is darling. I love snowmen so you know I like that little guy you found. I have a little collection of the photo/recipe/card holding snowmen myself.

I have a soft spot for children's books. You found some treasures!

ps LOVE the books -- and how precious to have hugs from Tiger

Hi Linda,
My library has the most awesome used bookstore. I get recent magazines for .25 cents. I find most of my shell books there to for a couple bucks. I love resourcing books. I'm scaling back my junking as well. It has to be really really good for me to make a buying decision.

What treasures.. they are adorable. Normally by now I've started "thinking" about Christmas shopping, years ago used to have it all done, now I just try to get in gear, more concerned about keeping Mr.P on his feet.. but the days are moving along quickly so I'll have to start doing more than thinking.. hugs ~lynne~

Linda I understand the economy thing! I can tell a difference in the yard sales here. People are holding on to what they have vs buying new. The only thing they are selling mostly is junk that no one can use.
I know I have been shopping more for Christmas gifts than for my self.
I envy you being able to read to that sweet little tiger! He is a beautiful little baby.

I agree with you Linda, I'm barely shopping at all these days. If it's not $1 or under, I keep on walking. Enjoy your Tiger time:@)

Although it is far too early to mention the major winter holiday, it seems ok to thrift those items.
I have a snowman collection (that I need to thin down) so of course I loved that find. But my favorite had to be the Pooh garden book. That is fun just to have out as a display. It makes one smile just to see it.

I doubt that there's anything at my local thrifts for a dollar or less that's not chipped or broken. I love those little Hallmark ornaments!

I can so relate to the cutting back! With us trying to expand our business and hopefully moving into a new hme in the next few months, I am really tightening up the purse strings! You did find sme great things though. And I love the books. I buy mre used books at our library than at thrift stores. The stores are just too expensive. Thanks for joining TTF and I hope you have a super fun weekend! Hugs :)

Cute buys! I cant even think about shopping for xmas yet but im sure the way the year is flying that it will be here before we know it! Maybe i should follow your lead.

Im also being a bit more choosey in my buys, serious lack of space and if we want to move in the near future then i can just imagine my hubby groaning with all the packing ;o) Scarlett x

I have slowed down on the thrifting. Well actually I have stopped. Money was needed elsewhere but I look forward to starting up again soon. You found some nice things Linda. I was just at the library but didn't see any book sales. I will check next time though so thanks for mentioning it.~Ames

Hi there. I know I have been gone awhile. I am going to try to get back into the swing of things, but yes money is tight and I need to sell my house. I was so happy to see that you stopped by for a visit. I was just getting ready to come over and say hi anyway. So a hello from Maine. I hope you have a good weekend. Take care

Isn't life grand when the little ones love books?!?! In the age of digital everything, it is comforting that some still enjoy the simple pleasures. Our grandson LOVES books and I get so much joy out of buying them for him!!! He'll be two years old next month and already he's a genius ;)

Have a great weekend!

What sweet little Christmas accessories you found. Best to get them now while you can still find them at the thrift stores. Those books were such a great bargain for Tiger. Our library always have a good supply of used books for less than $1.

O, Mr. Sweet and I have been watching our $'s, too...really close. I, also, am going a lot less to the thrift stores..I find too many things that I just don't need or have room for.
Love your little Christmas goodies..
hugs, bj

I am addicted to children's books. Hee Hee. Once my hubby sold our collection of Dr. Seuss. I turned around and bought a new set! My kids are 18,20,23,26 and they still love their childhood books. I am thrifty too! My oldest is 35 and she still has most all of her childhood toys! We buy lots of used and gently used items. I love Christmas and I still get excited like a kid! My hubby just gives me the evil eye! I love Christmas so much and i love all the sweet treasures you found! Hugs Anne

Good for you starting your shopping early! I think I have too, but I don't know who gets what!
But I know I don't need all the thing I bought, so gifted they will be!

Linda, Everything is so cute! You are smart to
start putting things away for the holidays!
It is fun to thrift, however, I agree it can
add up. I went to my favorite thrift today and
overdid it a bit! But so much fun!
