THE FIRST SUNDAY OF 2011

So what are you doing this first Sunday of 2011? I'm working on taking down my Christmas decorations.  This year my goal is to get organized, so I am taking my time and organizing as I go
It takes making a mess first to get it organized!
This bin will hold the large Christmas tree ornaments
 The tree is so bare!
I've purchased some smaller boxes hoping this will help in putting like things together
So much to put away...wait I see candy on the table  I might have already eaten enough but hmmm those  look good so maybe a few more
Dishes and glasses to be put in cabinets
Items bought at the after Christmas sale to be stored for next year...

It will take me most of this week to get it all put away but it will be easier next year as everything will be marked

I'm joining The Tablescaper

One tree down and three more to go!
  Always,
Linda

Hi Linda and Happy New Year to you!
I'm doing the same thing - taking down Christmas decorations. I love those little plastic bins that keep everything so neat and dust free. Sounds like you're starting the new year off with a bang!
Thanks for popping in to see my little headers.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

We aren't going to take things down until next week so by that time you'll be finished, right? Maybe you should head over here when you finish!!!

Good for you! I put away a few things at a time as I have had a house full of people and have been pulling off wallpaper. Never a dull minute. I have missed these dear blogs the past few days! ♥O

I was suppose to take mine down today but I procrastinated. Reading your post makes me feel guilty - I better get off the computer and get these taken down :) !!

I'm doing the same thing this week. I've put it off long enough.

Happy New Year~ you will have a head start on Christmas next year by organizing this year.
My hubby and I spent the day driving home from Ky. I hope to post our holiday celebration. I might not though because I am sure everyone has had their fill of Christmas.

You're right, Linda - it will be so much easier next year if we take time to label this year. It will be another week before I take things down - first of all because I traditionally leave things until after Epiphany, and second because I haven't the heart to take a thing down while the grandchildren are here. Plenty of time after they leave.

Good for you...Getting Into Organizing on just the 2nd Day of 2011 !!! I love it that you found Julia Childs Cookbook thrifting...only you. I have scoured every thrift and antique shop to no avail, and I'd really like to have an old one rather than a republished one. I'll keep looking...until then, The Joy is working!

Hi Linda....Chuckled over your post. I'm doing the same...taking down decorations. Took photos, too. You'll see if you visit me later. It's such a chore, isn't it? But what an abundant, glorious season it was. Susan

I feel bad that you have so much to pack away. Would it help if I take those JOY plates off your hands?

kristin said...

I'm doing the same thing! I haven't taken anything down yet, but I pulled out my christmas totes and went through everything that I didnt get out this year and put some things in a bag to take to Goodwill, and a bag for throw away (extra boxes/packaging from new things this year that I just threw back in the box when I opened it.
I want to go through all of my totes and get everything organized better since I know I have some random holiday stuff in some random totes.
I also have a bunch of baskets and tins that I want to use to organize and store stuff but I need to figure out where I want to use them.

Hey, Linda. Looks like you are really dedicated to being organized. I just filled one bin with anything until I couldn't get anymore in, than started with the next one. It will be a disaster of bins when I get it all out next year. lol. You go girl!!

Looks like you are off to a good start. I got the tree down after everyone left yesterday and everything is ready to go back in storage. I plan to finish my decluttering and organizing soon.
Have a great week.

I love buying stuff at sales after Christmas because 1) good deals and 2) the next year, I'm always surprised when I unpack them because I've forgotten I bought them!

Cathy said...

Yes I am thinkingggggg hard about taking things down. You and I shop at the same place I bought the same plates in the photo. They were 1/2 off. Can't pass 1/2 off table. Love your table!!

That is whatI did last year. I hit a good sale at Home Depot on containers and really sorted stuff out and labeled everything very clearly on the outside. This year is pretty easy since, well, I did very little decorating. LOL You will be so happy next year for putting all the time in now!

I should have taken mine down on Sunday! I was going to tonight but got distracted by the computer. :) Maybe that will be tomorrow's project!

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

I am almost done with taking down the decorations, still have the porch lights left to do. You are so organized!

Happy New Year!

I think I may have put my decorations away improperly...it took me about 15 minutes, including eating all the candy. Mind you, my stuff wasn't as nice as your stuff....wow!

I love this Linda! Speaking about this post Christmas that is such a common, yet little revealed circumstance for so many. I have decided to keep things out til the end of Christmas...you know the 12 Days of Christmas and such? I think today is the 11th...Peace

Suzanne said...

You're my hero! Mine are still up and now mixed with birthday decorations. My plan is to put them away nicely like you. Hmmm...guess one can always hope!

Claudie said...

Your just too organized for me. I only put up minimal this year, and right now I'm sure happy about that : )
OK on another note. Did you watch the Bachelor last night? Brad's a dip stick. He's so " ah ok ah no ah thanks for not judging me" Actually the girls were pretty neat, except for the vampire chick. What's with that. I like the N.C. Blondie with the little girl named Ricky. CUTE. I kind of like the Rockette too. She looks like a lot of fun, but too much fun for Brad.
I might start a post about it, but I'm trying to get ready for Mexico. We leave on the 18th... YAHOOOOO
Happy New Year my friend.
The best to you and your family... "GRANDMA" lol

Why is it that to get organized, we have to make a mess first. I am reorganizing my whole house and the shop. There are just not enough hours in the day. It would help if my kitty would stop playing with all the Christmas ornaments. Oh well. She is cute.

Hi Linda,
I spent the weekend putting my Christmas decor away. I still have one thing out, that is my tree, I took everything off it, and now it sits bare in the corner until my son can come over and haul it back into the basement. I better give him a call. ha!
Happy New Year.

Organization - creating it, watching it, reading about it - quickens my pulse. Really.

Susan said...

Good morning, Linda! You're tree does look so bare. Mine looks the same way right now.

It is so true how we must make a mess before the organizing can start. I have an upstairs closet just waiting to be emptied and put back together, tidier and with a few less things in it. Free Cycle may have to be used for this one.

I just love your Christmas dishes. The ones with Joy on them are just so beautiful. The red and white, well, those are my favorite colors this time of year. Very beautiful. And the little houses on the table, so cute.

I hope your organizing is going well and that you have been having a wonderful January 2011 so far. Thank you so much for stopping by CluckleBees and Walking the Fog Covered Road and leaving your words of encouragement and friendship. I appreciate you so much, Linda.

Blessings to you my dear friend,
Susan

So glad this is all finished for me Linda. I took my time and did a little each week. But I do not want to tackle closets now. I am missing stuff..that ever happen to you, I just can't find it/

Romeo said...

Ah yes, the old organizing the Christmas junk. Charlie? Is she still at it?!?! Better go check on her, she might be trapped in a box....or maybe even hiding!

Yep, went through the organization thing here too. Except "she" did it as she was pulling out the stuff and labeled the boxes. It was Dad's assignment to put the stuff away. "She" thought this would make it easier for him....he got tired of missing an ornament or piece of greenery and started stuffing them in little corners around the storage boxes. "She" went and checked it out after he was done....BUSTED!

Happy New Year Linda Sweetie...
What a beautiful share today. I love the idea of all the little boxes to help organize. I tell myself every year I am going to do this, and every year time slips by and it doesn't get done. Thank you for the encouragement by sharing this post. Makes me want to be a little more organized as well.

Love those little gifts already bought for next year.

Did someone say candy?

Have a gorgeous day sweet one. Many hugs and much love, Sherry
