BEAUTIFUL THRIFTY WHITES

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

I have found some beautiful whites to share with you today!

This little restaurant teapot was found yesterday at one of my favorite thrifts...I wasn't going to stop in but it was half price day and well...so glad I did!  $1 after the discount!
This sugar bowl and creamer were found at two different thrift shops and I was amazed to find they matched
Marked Federalist Ironstone each piece was 99 cents
I love the simple lines on them
These two were found at a little thrift shop in Murphy, NC last week.  Mr ALC and I took a mini vacation to the Smokey Mountains
This coffee pot does not have a lid but I think it would be lovely with flowers or even a green Christmas arrangement in it and....get this, both pieces were only $2
They are marked J & G Meakin England
Classic White
This pretty glass jar isn't vintage but I love the design

For right now it sits on my dresser

Not bad for some pretty classic whites!

WHAT'S ON YOUR CHRISTMAS LIST??

Sunday, November 28, 2010

I don't know about you but I did not leave my home for Black Friday.  I decided instead to shop in the CSN Stores with over 200 online stores to choose from!   There you can find anything you need whether it be a chic handbag, tv tables or even awesome cookware!

The wonderful folks at CSN have offered to let me review a product for them.  I'm thinking of this...

How cute is this pan with a rooster handle

Or this red bag, just in time for Christmas

not sure what I will choose but I will let you know!
It might even be something like this
After all I do have that new Grand baby coming in April!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and please plan to join me for Junkin Finds Friday this week!

Happy Junkin,
Linda

PINK CHRISTMAS ENCORE!

Friday, November 26, 2010

Hi Everyone!  I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I am working on getting all my Christmas out of the basement, up those stairs and placed just so in the house.  Until then I wanted to share an 'encore' post from last year.  It's my Pink Girly tree!
I have always wanted a Girly tree and this year I bought a 3 ft white tree for the Pink room. I bought as inexpensively as possible pink ornaments, some from the thrift, some from Ross and some from the Dollar Tree. I think it came out so cute!!!

I put a special decoration on the tree. On my first Birthday that Mr ALC and I were together he gave me this princess crown and I loved it. Wore it to work, cause I am THE Princess! So of course it has to go on the girly tree.

I had to take several photos of this most valuable tiara...(yes I know it's plastic and for a child...but it's MY princess crown).

The little snowflakes were from dollar tree, 6 for $1! The small pink ornaments are from the thrift and the pink spiral I had.

Of course the Girly tree has to have cute things underneath it.....a pink snowman stocking, pink box with a gift and a doll. I needed a tree skirt but didn't want to spend a lot of $$ so I got a cute baby blanket for 50 cents and I think it looks perfect.

Now this sweet little angel doll was in a bag of Christmas goodies I bought at the GW. I didn't realize how cute she was until I opened the bag. She has a little bit of a pug nose, gives her character.

I don't have a lot of fancy decorations, but the one's I put up I enjoy. The larger tree in the living room is where the older ornaments and things the children made are displayed. I've not quite gotten that tree up yet...hmmmm, it's how many days until Christmas? Wishing you all the best this lovely Christmas season.

This post makes me want to get my trees up and I will be working on that this weekend!  Until then I hope you enjoy this little peek of pink Christmas!

I am joining in these fun parties this weekend!

THANKSGIVING 2010

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

Tomorrow is the day!  The table is set and the menu has been chosen.  Early tomorrow the cooking will begin.  Thanksgiving 2010

This year will be a table for two!
Mr ALC and I will enjoy a more casual setting
I am starting with this wonderful burlap table runner
This was made for me by Debbie at Confessions of a Plate Addict when I won her giveaway!
I used green leaf shaped place mats and these Metlox dishes that I found at a Salvation Army.  This pattern is called Woodland Gold.
There will be coffee to go with dessert
I love the leaf colors on these dishes
We will be using Mr ALC's family silver
This acorn bowl will hold gravy this year
My Pilgrim S & P are so cute and from the
Publix grocery store ad...these were a limited edition and  now a cute tradition on my table.
We will have turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes & gravy, rolls and an apple pie for dessert.
I found this matching water pitcher at another thrift shop
Amber water glasses and green wine glasses
A simple centerpiece with the candles lit
These leaf shaped votive's will add a glow to the meal
I am really looking forward to tomorrow!
I am so grateful this year for my many blessings.
Family, friends, home and health.  A Grandbaby due in April and the joy of watching my daughter become a Mother.  Life is good!

I am joining Suzanne

FALL DAY IN CHATTANOOGA

Sunday, November 21, 2010

I am sharing a post from last year.  A trip to Chattanooga Thanksgiving Day 2009!

On a recent trip to Chattanooga, TN I took some photos in the park. Had a wonderful time even though it was cold and the wind was really blowing.

This photo of the walking bridge over the river was my favorite
shot of the day.

I loved the blue of the steel girders of the bridge and the design and shadows they made.

A view of the carousel building through the bridge

Most of the trees were bare because of so much rain and the wind, but this beauty against the blue and cloudy sky caught my eye.

This photo is from my yard and looking at the hydrangeas that have turned brown

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving Week!

JUNKIN FINDS FRIDAY #4

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Welcome to Junkin Finds Friday!  I can't believe this is the fourth party I've hosted!  I am enjoying this so much and thank each and everyone of you that take the time to link up each week!  FYI ~ next Thursday is Thanksgiving and I know most of you will be busy this week with cooking and family time.  We will not have JFF next week but will resume the week after!

Please add your links below.  Be sure to link up your post not your blog.  Please have a link back to the party here in your post so others can join in!  That's it and have a great week!
Today I am showing a new addition to my cubby
This beautiful little Fenton vase was found at The Apple Barrel Antique store in Breman, GA
The shape and the color grabbed me as I walked by it
Holding my breath as I checked the price...$6
Wow, it's mine!
This large chip is why the low price, but on my shelf it doesn't show and it makes me really happy!
Vintage Christine showed some of these beauties on her blog recently and so when I saw this I was thrilled!
Unless I am short on time I always check out the books
This one was $2.50 at the Goodwill
I love having reference books to help me with all the goodies I find!  This one is by the fabulous Gene & Cathy Florence
I have several of their books and they are wonderful!
I also found this collected works of William Shakespeare
again $2.50 it was published in 1937

So join in and show me your junk and your bargains!

Happy Junkin!
Linda
