One year life was so different then it is today! Mr ALC and I had just bought our house together(May 2009) and wham!  I lost my job August 2009. I was hurt, dazed and confused!  It wasn't easy to let go of my working life and move on.  I was lost without my daily routine, my friends and my work.  After spending a couple of months reading, watching TV and feeling sorry for myself, I made a decision.  A decision that has changed my life for the better.  I decided to BLOG.  Now I have to admit I already 'had' my blog A La Carte.  I started it for family only and really did not post much at all.  This time I reached out to strangers who like/love the same things I do: Junkin, decorating with thrifty finds and getting those good bargains.  I met new friends and found kindred spirits aplenty.  Many who were going through their own rough times.  I learned so many new things; links, posting photos, downloading and editing and the list goes on and on.  I am still learning.  I found my 'niche' and yet I have followers who don't thrift and I follow others who's blogs are completely different then mine.  It's wonderful.  I am happy and content and love blogging.  It's a creative outlet for me, for my photos and thrifty finds.  Who knew there was such a thing as 'tablescaping' and 'giveaways' and especially friends (most who have never met you in person) who reach out to you in good times and bad.  Who pray for you and help you celebrate turning the big Six-0 and a first Grandbaby on the way.  Who cry, laugh and rejoice with you. Who share your ups and downs day in and day out.  Friends who change your life!

So to all my wonderful followers, readers, family and friends, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  Blogging has enriched my life, taken me on trips to Paris and Rome.  Shown me the beauty and wonder of the United States and Canada and countries far away.  Taught me new recipes and how to make sweater pumpkins.  I've even been so lucky to meet some of you in person.  I hope someday to meet many more of you.

To thank all of you I want to have a giveaway!

My wonderful friend Jane whose blog
is a delight, makes these amazing hanging bags for flowers and so many other uses!  She has graciously offered one of my readers this one!

  "She's Lost Her Mitten"
It is made out of striped Ralph Lauren Fabric
with this adorable red mitten safety pinned on!
These are lined with plastic so you can use them for flowers but I've seen them used for wine bottles, baby items, just let your imagination soar!  This one is perfect for Christmas!

Jane has been in Paris for a few weeks (lucky girl) but she will be sewing away and there soon will be many new Flora Doora's in her shop for you to ohh and ahh over!

For this giveaway
Just leave me a comment!  That's it!
(sorry limited to USA & Canada this time)
This will be open until Sunday Nov 7th midnight
I will pick a winner using
Winner will be announced on Monday Nov 8th

I am one blessed lady!

Linda!! Thank you for sharing a bit of your life with us!! When I read your story it helped me to keep life in perspective. On how many things we often take for granted ie: our jobs, family when all of a sudden it can be gone.
However I am a firm believer when a window is closed two doors open.
I enjoy your blog so much and you are so faithful in coming to my blog and commenting;\

Please enter me in the giveaway for that beautiful bag!!

The bag is adorable, and your friend was sweet to offer it as a giveaway on your blog. Love the fabric and the little mitten.

Love you and your blog...

Just and year! And look at all you have accomplished! I appreciate what you said you have found in blogland.

It is fun to follow many people who don't do the things I do or have the same interests, yet their writing is so wise and witty, that it would be a shame to miss them. Keep on keeping on. You are having such fun in this new phase of your life! Cheers!

Congratulations on a year, I am 6 months in and have so many of the feelings you do. I know the first time I saw "Giveaway" I thought, what an unsophisticated word! It is such inspirations to see what other people are up to, and connections to people i have never met, My son calls them my invisible friends! I love my invisible friends!

A Hopeful Heart said...

Well, I am glad you are in the blogging world...otherwise, how would I have met you?!!

I began blogging back in 2006, but took a long break in 2009/2010. But through my years of blogging, I have made several wonderful friends, who have greatly enriched my life. And also, blogging has helped me as I have ended my homeschool journey. It has given me something else to focus on instead of the fact that my kids are done with high has given me an opportunity to reach out to a number of hurting women through prayer and cards. In short, through blogging, I have found a ministry that I enjoy.

Deb said...

You are one of the first ones to reach out to me so I thank you for that. I have enjoyed getting to know you, Linda and still use the beautiful cards you sent me for my birthday. You are a fun, caring, thrifty lady :) Hugs, Deb =^..^=x5 Cute give-away.

O, darlin', I can so relate to your sweet post. Blogging is just wonderful for me. It came at a perfect time in my life..back when I was working, I didn't think I had time to do anything other that work. Since we are both retired, my grands are all teenagers except for my baby girl..she's going to be 9 in Jan.
So, I have more time and ....I just flat LOVE it. Love everything about it.

Your giveaway is just the cutest thing. Please do add my name to your list and thanks so much for giving us a chance to win something so cute.

I would love to be entered in the drawing. I never saw a bag for flowers before. See another thing I learned about from a blog!

What you wrote was so very heartfelt and honest, and that is one of the reason why I love you so. You are genuinely you. I am glad that you decided to blog. Ironically, if Debbie hadn't started a blog, I wouldn't be here. She is where my blogging journey starts. I owe thanks to her for leading me to you and other wonderful people. Good morning, Linda,

What a lovely post. It made me feel so good to read and I couldn't agree more. Blogging has been such a wonderful way to meet new people and visit places near and far. I'm so happy you have found your niche, and I'm so happy we've met via our blogs. You are a very dear person and I'm so happy you found something to bring you contentment after the loss of the job and routine you loved so well. I feel blessed for having gotten to know you a little better. I look forward to the years that come and all the posts that will follow.

Oh, and thank you for having this very sweet giveaway. The bag and mitten are darling. I'll have to swing on over to Jane's blog and check it out as well.

Blessings to you,

I have picked up so many ideas and useful tips. Never knew how much fun thrifting could be until now. Thanks for inspiring me! I don't have a blog myself, but who knows, one day I just might. Loving that cute little bag. I would love to have a chance to be a winner.
